Nice work Storn!

Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread.
I goofed on Ganesh originally, he was supposed to have 4 arms. Here is the updated, corrected version. And another antognist for the global guardians. These works are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 License.
Babar? I just can't get that out of my head when I see Ganesh. Maybe it is the 10 month old nephew, but I'm not seeing a superhero there.
Nice work though Storn. Still love your stuff.

Re: Iron-Man Movie!
The main problem i see is who going to play the bad guy. It gets boring if it turns out Stark builds the armor and the govt. tries to take it.I also can't see the Mandarin in this one. People might get him confused with Ras al Ghul in Batman begins.
I don't see that happening. I for one hope it is the Mandarin.

Thanks Neil for your involvement!
Here is the HDC file for those who are interested. Enjoy!
I forgot there is an error in the Anvil HDC file, which I intend to correct when I get home. I'll upload a revised copy at that time. His Lack of Weakness is against Physical, not Mental Find Weakness attempts.

Thanks Neil! Maybe I should have explained more from the get-go?

If you got a few extra dollars lying around, you can buy the PDF version of PRIMUS from the online store, then sample the picture. I think I recall a pic in there, though I'm not sure it's the same one from the original PRIMUS & DEMON manuscript.
I'd check, but my copy's on my computer at home.
Blue,
If you could check I would much appreciate it. I supposed I'd buy it (again) for that one piece of artwork if it wasn't too expensive. The only reason I can't scan the darn thing is that my scanner is broken and I'm not able to afford a new one right now.
Thanks!

I don't think anyone is going to respond, at least not in this forum, as the current crew likes it's copyrights...
I'm not sure what amounts to photocopying a single page from a book is copyright infringement. I'm just looking for something I can send to Storn Cook as a reference point for an illustration I want him to do for one of my characters.

I was wondering if anyone in the Hero community has a scanned image of the Iron Guard illustration from the old P.R.I.M.U.S. and Demon supplement? I would really appreciate it if someone could post it or e-mail it to me.
Thanks!

Vorvodoss,
I think you and caris misunderstood me. What I was driving at is that there should be no difference in your mind whether the battlemat is present or not. I don't see how having the mat there suddenly makes people think of their character as a chess piece unless they think that way regardless.
In your example I could clearly see the combat in my mind, because I have a vivid and active imagination. Some people will not be able to imagine the same detail...no matter what you do to inspire that kind of experience.

I know when I'm playing with miniatures I'm thinking of my character as a piece on a board, and trying to optimize based on that. If the combat above had been presented with miniatures, I'd be thinking "Where's the tactical options? Where's the combat movement?"
Therein lies the problem most opponents of miniatures have. You need to learn to think differently when looking at a battlemat IMHO.

Yeah, okay well maybe I am trying to change some minds.

Not that I'm trying to change any minds here, but I've played it both ways and I don't understand how I ever played w/o miniatures. If you want to see a really dynamic example of how we use miniatures in Champions, and you're going to be at Origins, sign up for or watch one or both of the following events...

Date Friday, June 25 - 09:00 PM
Length 5 hours, 45 minutes
Location TBD
Game System Hero System Fifth Edition/Champions Current Edition

We drape a mondomat over the gaming table and all combats are tactically displayed, and we had some of the best role-playing I've seen by groups of complete strangers in my entire life. When I hear people say that use of miniatures detracts from good role-playing or are distracting in some way, I just can't understand what they must be doing when they use them. The use of miniatures enhances our games immeasurably.

Sorry, my mistake. I don't know what I was thinking. My point should have been that the cost of high DEX covers the use of the maneuver you describe. That's what I get for trying to do about five things at one time.
Originally posted by Hugh NeilsonI think a good game provides an in-game reason for heroes to follow the genre, such as penalties for all out attacks which discourage their constant use. For example, why don't supers carry weapons and wear bullet proof vests? The rules could say "Equipment is purchased with money. But superheroes shouldn't wear bulletproof vests and carry flamethrowers because that's not the way the comics do it." This would, of course, be a load of crap. Instead, the bok says "Superheroes must pay character points if they want to carry equipment around. This is why few supers in the comics carry large amounts of gear, even though it would seem sensible for them to do so." Thus, there is an in-game reason why Tiger-Man does not carry a flamethrower, despite the advantages it would give him in combat.
I've said just about all I am going to on this topic. Someone a few posts back said, and I agree with him, that no game can faithfully simulate everything with 100% accuracy. IMO it is up to the players and GM to follow genre, not the rules to force them to. The Shade doesn't carry a RPG Launcher because it wouln't be genre or in his concept, not because the rules would make him pay points for one.
