Folks (And I do mean more than one, not trying to single ANYONE person out, but this seems a good thread to bring it up...again) Only in referring to cancer (the medical condition, not the poster) And COVID (In the Coronavirus thread) are we supposed to use a certain F word on these boards. The Admins have in the past reminded folks that while we tend towards older demographics we want this to be a family friendly board over all. SO... I mention this now and then, and yet still if I do a search, folks ignore it..a lot. So far my options appear to be... Start issuing warnings and infractions Clear them up only to have them happen again …

We've got threads for catsuit pics, funny pics, big-breast pics, wallpapers...but sometimes I run across pics that don't fit any of those categories. They may be pics of good-looking anime girls, neat maps, sleek aircraft, or whatever. Since there is no real "matching" thread/topic for things like that, let's create a catch-all for pics that you find "neat" that doesn't fit one of the other categories. I'll kick it off with a panoramic map of Mars. There is a larger, higher-res version available here if you want it.

We have threads for Major League Baseball, the NBA, the NFL, college football, etc. But there are other sports that, let's face it, not enough people follow for a thread of their own. Cycling, tennis, ice hockey, football/soccer, curling, that sort of thing. And we have the Olympic Games coming up soon. So here's a thread where we can talk about some of those lesser-known / lesser appreciated sports. Go nuts.

Everybody likes jokes. Here is a thread to post your favorite or most recently heard jokes. Here's one I heard today: A woman takes a lover home during the day while her husband is at work. Her 9-year old son comes home unexpectedly, sees them and hides in the bedroom closet to watch. The woman's husband also comes home. She puts her lover in the closet, not realizing that the little boy is in there already. The little boy says, "Dark in here." The man says, "Yes, it is." Boy - "I have a baseball." Man - "That's nice." Boy - "Want to buy it?" Man - "No, thanks." Boy - "My dad's outside." Man - "OK, how much?" Boy - "$250" In the next few weeks, it…

I feel the need to spew random thoughts onto a public board from time to time so I thought I'd start up a thread to do it. Of course everyone else is welcome to spew here also--the only rule is that you cannot reply to someone else's post. Each post should have as little to do with the others as possible.

OK...it's unlikely that we'll be able to get away without any political discussion taking place in the forums (despite the fact that the forums are for an RPG and there are plenty of other arenas for political discourse) -- so we're going to make a dedicated spot for them to take place. With rules that will be followed. Before I get into the rules, a little bit about self-policing. You guys are a good group. I'm assuming that, political differences aside, you'd like to keep each other around. So you're going to be the first level of checks that will take place. This is the ONLY US political discussion thread that is going to be around. If you see someone start a…

Well, it looks like we had our first spring training game last night, so the new baseball year has officially begun. Let's kick it off with an amusing little article from college baseball: LOOK: LSU designated hitter Hayden Travinski uses pencil bat Maybe he can land an NIL deal with Ticonderoga.

In memory of Tom Tyler, aka Vincent Markowski, of Hamtramck, Michigan, whose birthday was today, 1903. His family was Lithuanian. One of his film roles was the World's Mightiest Mortal, Captain Marvel, widely regarded as one of the finest serials ever produced. He also starred as The Phantom, and appeared in more than 150 movies. A champion weightlifter, he qualified for the 1928 Olympics, the same year that he won the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) heavyweight weightlifting championship, lifting 760 pounds (340 kg)—a record that stood for fourteen years. Tom developed a rare disease, scleroderma, costing him his looks, his marriage, his livelihood and his life.

Here's the deal: We'll start with a topic. I will post something matching that topic that begins with the letter A. The next post will be something matching the same topic that begins with the letter B. The next one will be the letter C, and so forth. Whoever posts the answer with the letter Z picks the next topic. Let's go. Topic: Modes of Transportation Aeroplane

I know almost everyone has Winamp (or the equivalent) cranked up most of the time when they're online. So, what are you listening to? Right now, I'm listening to: "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash. "My name is Sue! How DO you DO? Now you're gonna die!"

I just finished viewing Dog Soldiers, a soldiers versus werewolves movie. I found it liked it at lot, parts made me laugh, parts made me shudder, and parts made me say "that's not right...." I highly recommend it. I also watched The Wizard of Oz over the weekend, for the first time. Rather fun, with some highly enjoyable sequences -- the flying monkeys were great! -- and the musical numbers are catchy. I also found it amusing to sort of "count" all the lines that have remained in popular use. What have you seen recently?

Not quite time for this, normally, but there is significant news that impacts college football. The Big 12 chancellors and presidents approved the proposed settlement in the NCAA's House case...the big one that was a class action lawsuit seeking back pay. The settlement is for $2.7 billion...because the potential liability was several times that amount, due to triple damages as an antitrust case. The other terms also mean the schools may optionally set up direct revenue-sharing payments...we're talking $20 million per school for the big boys. The Athletic noted, in a story from earlier this morning, that this is also going to broaden the divide b…

Well, it's a tad early, as training camps don't open for a while but... In what some are calling explosive but I'd call predictable... James Harden *blasts* Sixers GM Daryl Morey and vows never to play for an organization of which he's a part. Even doubled down on it, in case people didn't get the message. ESPN story says he's upset about not getting a long term max deal...poor baby. Only signed a $35M extension...in order to facilitate a trade, but he turns 34 this month. Consistent comments from analysts during the playoffs were, he's lost a step. He was completely MIA in all 4 losses to Boston...12 for 55 from the field, 3 for 24…

I brought my headphones to work tonight so during the slow parts (almost the entire night) I have been able to watch some videos on Google Video. I figured I'd start a thread for people to share random videos.
