  1. Re: Musings on Random Musings

I think people who refuse to see the people that blew up the two towers' date=' make up Hamas, Al-Qaeda, and other terrorist organizations are muslim, usually of Arab or Persian blood (Iraq and Iran are actually more Persian than Arab) are in denial and are allowing their attempt to try to be fair to all people crowd out reality.[/quote']

I moved this over to the proper thread.

    Denial?

If we're going to generalize, let's generalize, shall we?

The greater majority of serial killers are white men. Should we just assume that all white men are serial killers?

The greater majority of people of Arab/Persian blood aren't terrorists. The greater majority of followers of Islam have done absolutely nothing related to terrorism.

Which way of generalizing are we going to use here? Small minority as example of majority? Or majority as example of majority?

Or do we only use minority samples when we're not a member of the minority?

  2. Re: They did it to me again...

Depends on your definition of fear.

Hmmm... I should hope that you actually like Dragonball Z, then, you would make an ideal critic for the book when I'm done writing it. I can see it now... red marks all the way through with scathing wit written in the margins.

Scathing wit? lol I've been accused of that a time or two. Especially at work.

Not at all familiar with Dragonball Z.

  3. Re: They did it to me again...

Ha, I should sic my quotes page on you guys and, to paraphrase keyes_bill, show you fear... in four pages of dialogue!

I verbally fence with Mightybec and Kara.

You don't know the meaning of the word "fear".

    lol

  4. Re: They did it to me again...

Well, I'm back... was just going through my book and finding all the dialogue that I thought was just damned cool, and realized that I've got four solid pages of quotes that just totally rock. I must be doing SOMETHING right, I guess!

Now if I could just get the REST of the book to be this cool...

... even if MB and Rachel are giving me s*** about it.

I wasn't giving you s***. lol It was well written.

I was just describing the most horrific of the levels of hell the character could be sent to.

Original series' date=' [i']The Doomsday Machine[/i]. Commodore Matthew Decker (William Windom) took command of the Enterprise from Spock while Kirk was on the Constellation. Wouldn't that make it 12?

EDIT: Or are we just talking those who had orders from Star Fleet to be captain? :)

My wife is such a geek. lol

  6. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

Oh my... those poor kids. My mom was born Dec 26 and my Dad on Dec 29. No one ever came ot their birthday parties' date=' and they rarely got bithday presents on their actual birthday, and even then it was usually just some Xmas presents that were [b']labeled[/b] as birthday presents.

We're very careful about that. Christmas presents in the morning. Birthday is in the afternoon. :) We're thinking about having their birthday party a week early so friends from school can make it.

  7. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER

Gah! I can't imagine spending my birthday doing something quite so intensive as child-birth. Now then' date=' if labor were to start the day [b']before[/b] and the baby delivered at exactly 12:01am July 23, that would be the best of all worlds :)

She gave birth to the twins on Christmas day. lol

  8. Re: GGU Email Server Down... Again

I applied the script to the website's Staff addresses just over a month ago' date=' at your request.[/quote']

Those addresses are on lists that are getting passed around. Maybe some kind of minor change in the addresses would work.

  9. Re: GGU Email Server Down... Again

Jack, have you re-created your own personal address yet?

And when you create the Webmaster address, please modify it somewhat to throw off all the spam & virus senders. Drop me a line as to what the new address is, and I'll update the website.

Good point. I set my e-mail to retrieve the liaison mail, and had a spam/virus message waiting for me.

Unfortunately, those addresses will be on the website, whatever the address is. They'll end up getting the same spam. We seem to be a popular site with those programs that mine e-mail addresses.

And, according to post #20 above, he has re-created his own personal address. :)

  10. Re: "Essential" Graphic Novels / Trade Paperbacks

Anything by Will Eisner is good, but they're not super-hero related. His graphic novels are very enjoyable reads.

The Spirit Archives are pricy at 49.95 each, but they're worth every penny.

Not being a true comic book fan, that's about the extent of my comics reading. lol

  11. Re: GGU Email Server Down... Again

The following @globalguardians.com email addresses have been restored:

    Luis Garavello

    Mitzie Bowman

    Kara Benson

    Rachel Benson

    Jack Butler

    Rebecca Butler

This means that the Player Liaison is back in business. Any of the GGers who feel they need the services of the liaison can contact me at:

    rbenson@globalguardians.com

Anyone interested in the GGU who have questions about us, can send me an e-mail at the same address.

  12. Re: The cranky thread

I crapped out part-way through gaming last night. My headaches *have* been slowly fading in their intensity... but I was just not able to think very clearly or coherently. My character was not nearly as sharp or clever as he normally is... he was an idiot as a matter of fact. That was my cue to bow out and just crawl into bed.

    Damn. :(

I hope you and the doctors can get a handle on this soon.

  13. Re: GM's "rights"

For the record, my calling him blackmoor was sarcasm, given that they both share the same aim of badmouthing me every chance they get.

As for the page, its been there all along. Of course, its also been a .html page until I poked Steve in the ribs and told him to convert it. But its been there.

And before the "reboot", the Credit Where Credit Is Due was on the first page of the site, at the bottom.
