  1. Re: The cranky thread

Ouch. I can't imagine who...

See, to me, if I'm actually angry enough to call someone that...I actually go for something more insulting than just vulgarity. From my mother, as I mentioned elsewhere. People's hot buttons are not pressed by that sort of thing. And I do know a few hot buttons I could press on you and others, and if I were actually moved to that level of vitriol, you'd know it.

OTOH, it takes a lot to get me that angry. Angry, not much actually, despite appearances, but not that angry. Also, actually, I'm not at all likely to get angry at people that I know as friends. Family, close loved ones, co-workers...that's where my fuse is.

I've been called worse. And I can't say I'm surprised or impressed. I know the curse words, too. Ask Jack. I got asked to stop using them for a character I was playing a couple of years ago. lol

  2. Re: A Thread for Random Musings

You know, I'm wondering if people actually read posts. I'm trying to figure out how I was trying to get someone to be quiet on a subject when I said no such thing.

This isn't the first time I've had a disagreement with someone and they've reacted to things I've never said or even implied or intended and got all indignant over a figment of their imagination.

Are people really that unstable that a disgreement causes hallucinations?

Sorry, been in somewhat similar situations, though not quite.

Anyway, if I may intrude...your case will stand up better in general if he's been through some sort of formal warning and "opportunity to improve" process. If he hasn't been, that should generally happen first. We require those at work (except of course for extreme situations) and while it is a ROYAL pain in the butt, it not only protects you and the company, but it even can be a key event in turning an employee around.

That's all been done and documented in my report.

  4. Re: The cranky thread

I just spent the huge majority of my evening writing a very detailed report as to why a man who's been with the company for fifteen years needs to be fired. Complicating matters: He's a known misogynist AND hater of gays. Needless to say, he and I have butted heads on numerous occasions.

So, I have to make sure that no hint of personal prejudice enters into the report. At all. Numerous edits were needed, as I would get upset and let my feelings influence what I was typing.

Kara was a huge help with that. Thanks, love. :)

I really wish people would start their threads without invitations to flame. Especially when they will act all surprised and innocent when the flames come.

Proofread your posts before you hit the "Submit" button, people. It's not a difficult concept!

Think how you would react if the side you're on was substituted for the side you're slamming. A lot of the strife here would go away if people would take a moment to do this simple thing instead of racing to get posts out as fast as they can. It's not a race. There's not a prize for posting a reply first.

Hell, if you can post rationally you generally come off looking better and getting more respect.

Why is this such a problem?

  6. Re: The cranky thread

Hell, after reading Klytus and gewing's posts, I've decided that my cranky post is small potatoes. Think I'll go post it on Random Musings instead.

Hope you gentlemen are feeling better soon and that tests find the problem to be something minor and easily taken care of.
