  1. Re: FANTASY HERO Sneak Peek #1: The Cover!

Since we have red-and-gold as the Champions colors (based on the MMO logo and trade dress)' date=' using green-and-gold for Fantasy seemed like a natural step. ;) Fred and I haven't started discussing SH yet, but perhaps there'll be some gold there too, to link them all together. :hex:[/quote']

Actually, there I was thinking of using the blue of the core line and replacing gold with something more cold/space/starlight in feel. But we'll see. :)

  2. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive

That might be the problem, but I live in Phoenix Arizona.

I'm almost as far from the east coast as the warehouse is, if not a bit more south. :D

Honestly, I'd say you should contact Tina right now. She definitely won't mind, so don't hold off out of some misguided "I don't want to be a bother" thing. You're a customer!

  3. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive

However my question still stands' date=' for those of us who ordered at Gencon, at what point do we need to start looking into this? I love Hero Games, and I've never been displeased with their results... I also know things happen, stuff get's misplaced, or even misdirected... I just want to know the theoretic "when would it be prudent to start asking more questions."[/quote']

My guess is that at least some stuff got shipped via Media Mail. Media Mail to the east coast can take weeks from the warehouse in the middle of the Nevada desert, sometimes (I live in Maryland), so I'd at least give it to the 21 or 28 day mark.

But like someone else said, Tina is on this site and able to answer your question if you PM her.

Just wish there was some way to see if it was shipped or know whether to expect UPS or USPS. It was a GenCon order so that explains the lack of an entry on the user cp' date=' right?[/quote']

It defies my understanding of website store software that an order that wasn't placed through the website store would show up on the website store's order page. I'm *guessing* that explains it, but I'm not an expert in terms of how the GenCon orders were implemented.

  5. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive

Someone on these boards dropped a tip about searches including an "H" before the term - the HERO Hex is actually an H character so if you're looking for a power or limitation or most of the headers typing in the H first' date=' like "Hflight" instead of "flight" is a fast way to get to the definition of the power. I can't remember who gave the tip, but I owe them rep - it has saved me a ton of time.[/quote']

Oooh, I had no idea I was embedding a hidden feature there. :)

  6. Re: And 6e print books start to arrive

Heavier than you might imagine. The whole package came in at 8 lbs' date=' which should tell you something.[/quote']

Yeah, I sent a pair of them down to Steve just the other day, and I double boxed 'em to make sure they'd survive transit. Package was around 9 pounds. Easily two of the beastliest bludgeoneering books I've ever laid out.

And, of course, I'm pleased to see that the format of HERO 5er wasn't messed with but, instead, massaged toward greater greatness.

Honestly, it didn't make sense to wholly reimagine the layout. HERO's presentation is more about function than form, and the function has been pretty well targeted at this point. After a few minor adjustments to improve informational presentation & digestion, it was just a case of giving the existing function a mildly modified, modernized coat of paint. I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out.

Boy...these suckers are lovely. The layout and format is compact and I think very easy to read. I also LOVE (note the CAPS) the indexing that shows in the binding/leaf. VERY nice touch that really makes them useful.

The index design was at least partly inspired by some work I'd seen layout guru Adam Jury do on the Shadowrun anniversary edition index, which uses color coding to index multiple books across the entire product line. Really freakin' clever, that Adam Jury, which is why I'm happy to chase his aura as he streaks across the skies of layout like a comet.
