He solves mysteries and crimes through reasoning and logic and with the help of friends and nifty gadgets. Conan is really a 17-year-old famous high school detective, Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo). While investigating some suspicious activity, Shinichi was knocked over the head by a man dressed in black. During his semi-conscious state, an experimental drug was forced down his throat that was meant to kill him. Instead, Shinichi was shrunk into a 6 year old little kid. In order to prevent the men who did this to him from hurting his friends and family, Shinichi changed his name to Conan Edogawa and now lives with his girlfriend, Ran and her dad, Kogoro (Richard). Some of Conan's characteristics may seem to be a little high for a 6 year old boy, but that's the only explanation for some of the stunts he's pulled off in the anime. Virtually every skill listed has been used at some point in the anime, or it can easily be extrapolated from what he should have. He is one of the most brilliant detectives in anime. His Super Sneakers allow him to kick any object from the size of a can of soda up to the size of a car tire. The range isn't strictly based on Str since he has greater than what a 5 Str can give, but it's much less than the 125" that 5d6 EB would normally give. His Bowtie allows him to mimic any voice with complete accuracy. When he solves a case, he usually uses his hypodermic watch (which shoots out a strong anesthetic) to put Kogoro (Richard) to sleep and then uses the bowtie to mimic his voice. This is the longest running anime that I know of. There have been 370+ episodes and 8 movies, although only about 50 episodes have been shown by the Cartoon Network so far. SKJAM!
Re: Character: Conan Edogawa I created the "Angel of Death" Soc Lim for characters like Conan. The longest-running anime I know of is Sazae-San, which must be approaching 2000 weekly episodes by now. It's about a typical Japanese housewife and her multigenerational family, all of whom are named after seafood. Sazae might qualify as a Competent Normal.... nexus
Re: Character: Conan Edogawa I've seen "Angel of Death" mentioned a few times, but never seen it described. How does it work exactly?
SKJAM!
Re: Character: Conan Edogawa It's on the Master List of Limitations. Basically, no matter where the character goes, people are murdered or crimes are committed, requiring the character to solve them (which is a social limitation since it cuts into the time he could be using to do other things.) Basically' date=' no matter where the character goes, people are murdered or crimes are committed, requiring the character to solve them (which is a social limitation since it cuts into the time he could be using to do other things.)[/quote'] This would not be a limitation for Conan, though, because he lives for the challenge of solving crimes. In his mind, it is his reason for being and the one thing that keeps him sane in his current altered state. If he had to act like a normal kid all the time he would go nuts. Gary
Re: Character: Conan Edogawa Of course Conan is singlehandedly skewing the homicide rates of all of Japan, especially Tokyo. If you figure 1 homicide per episode on average and a bunch per movie, thats over 400 homicides in what is supposed to be less than a year. SKJAM!
Re: Character: Conan Edogawa Still counts as a Social Limitation, though, because it affects how other people act around Conan and his surrogate family. (True, they think Mouri is the one who has it, but still.)

She not so secretly loves Shinichi and worries about him during his absence. Ran is very strong willed and a great karate athelete. She can beat the crap out of virtually anyone if she isn't scared or semi-unconcious, although her timidness works against her. When the chips are down however, she usually pulls herself together. Ran cooks for Conan and her dad and when she's not around they starve or go out for food. She is also the responsible one between her and her dad. In game terms, Ran can do up to 10d6 damage if she uses her 2 skill levels for damage. She has been known to punch or kick through solid oak desks, thick steel decorations, iron railings, car doors, and she has also kicked a knife and snapped its blade while it was being held by an armed assailant. She is a very formidable young lady and both Conan and Kogoro as well as her opponents are suitably impressed when she pulls a stunt like this (Imagine the presence attack done by a frail looking young woman who does 10d6 damage in the presence of normal people!). She is tender and loving, but she has a solid core of steel in her.
Michael Hopcroft
Re: Character: Conan Edogawa Very good. It would probably require a lot of digging to come up with the infromation on them, but the Kaitou Kid and Ai (aka "Sherry") would be very interesting characters to write up.
