STAR HERO Review

Darn, I was just coming to spread the word myself! Oh well, if the creative Big Kahuna of the company sees fit to mention it himself, I shouldn't really complain about being beaten out. :)

Brand Robbins usually gives thoughtful, balanced reviews, and this one is no exception. It's very positive, and hopefully will raise the profile of Star HERO a little higher.

However, this isn't the first time that Mr. Robbins has mentioned in-game use problems with the layout in Hero books, with game stats not clearly separated for easy reading. Don't know how other players feel about that, but IMO it's a point worth considering.

There was a previous review of Star Hero which swayed my decision to purchase the book. I find that most of the rpg.net reviews are well done. I was a bit confused, the review was labeled as a playtest review (as opposed to capsule review) so I was expecting less a review of the book and more how the information aided in play. It was a good review showing the strengths of the book though.

Thanks for the kind words all.

As for it being a playtest review it was, but most of the details of the playtest will be in the review of Terran Empire, which should be out either this Friday or next Monday.

(I also tend to not fill reviews with Playtest details these days, unless the playtest made me notice something specific that needs a word so that others playing the game can be on alert for it. All of my playtest stories in past reveiws tended to be taken the wrong way, and the conversations about them often detracted from the attention given to the product, so I curtailed the level of detail.)

Posters on rpg.net take things the wrong way? I don't believe you. Actually, that is one reason I post here as opposed to rpg.net. I read some of the forums there and the people who post the most seem to be jerks who end up ruining threads after page 2. The forums here are much better for civil discussions.
