Mark Rand
Gotham City, New Jersey exists in mamy realities. In this one, the Waynes had a daughter, Barbara, not a son. Additionally, they had a maid and butler to care for their mansion. Their daughter, Marie, became Barbara's maid. The two girls were best friends as they grew up. They loved watching Westerns and dressing up like cowgirls. One fateful night, they stood together and watched in shock as Barbara's parents were murdered. Later that night, with only God and Marie as witnesses, Barbara pledged her life to the fight against crime. In the years that followed, while Marie learned about caring for Wayne Manor and Barbara's clothes and appearance, Barbara traveled the world, learning to hone her body and mind. While in Japan, she was introduced to her sensi's American cousin, who was also studying ninjitsu. The two became close friends and agreed to keep in touch. Now, Barbara is an adult and, as Batgirl, fights to keep Gotham City safe. Since she prefers the stealthy approach, the Batmobile, although armored and full of weapons, sensors, computers, and communications gear, looks like a Lamborghini Murcielago. Batgirl is easier to get along with than any version of Batman. She gets along well with law enforcement officials, but keeps the "creature of the night" style. Keiko, the ninjitsu student Barbara met in Japan, is the daughter of one of Wayne Enterprises's vice-presidents and a skilled gymnast. She serves as Batgirl's engineer and, for relaxation, drives a Corvette in races sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America. Barbara keeps trying to get Keiko to join her in the field, but she refuses, saying she's too busy. Her current project is turning a five foot radio-control model of a Bell 222-B helicopter into a spy drone.
Mark Rand
Re: Batgirl: TAS, version 2.0 The universe this Batgirl lives in, like the mainstream DC Comics universe, has Amazons. These, however, are Xena-style Amazons. In 150 BC, according to their legends, 200 of them faced 2 Roman legions while their sisters disappeared into the world. All 200 died, as did half the Romans. The sisters that disappeared into the world married, had children, and taught their daughters their way of life. Currently, since there are Amazons in many countries, governing is done at the local level. The queen, currently Nancy Sterngood, a ceramist living in Perfection, Nevada, only gets involved when she has no other choice.
Mark Rand
Re: Batgirl: TAS, version 2.0 In the fifth century AD, Ambrosius Aurelianus commanded a force of Romano-British and Celtic men and women in a group of battles against the Anglo-Saxons. The last battle was at Badon Hill. Assisting him in these battles were three other leaders. They were Gwenhwyvar, the Celtic war leader, who could take any lover she wanted, her father, Taliesin, the bard and Archdruid, or Merlin, of Britain, and Vivianne, high priestess of her goddesses holiest temple and Lady of the Loch. After the war, Ambrosius became king. He and Gwenhwyvar had a hill fort constructed on Cadbury Hill. Over the centuries, stories about their battles grew. In the twelth century, they were written down by Geoffrey of Monmouth. In his works, Ambrosius became Arthur, an English king. Gwenhwyvar became Gunievere, whose affair with Lancelot ruined the round table. Taliesin became two people, Taliesin the Bard and Merlin the Magician. The Lady of the Loch became the Lady of the Lake, and their timber-frame hill fort became Camelot, a stone castle.
Mark Rand
Re: Batgirl: TAS, version 2.0 In June of 2003, the city of Sunnydale, California, collapsed into a crater. One year later, Sunnydale Crater National Park was founded on the site. Besides the picnic area, the park contains the last vehicle to leave Sunnydale, a school bus. Three days after the dedication, Los Angeles was attacked by weird aliens and dragons. Local heroes, assisted by the Justice League and the military ended the attack. Snowy Falls, in Colorado's Heurfano County, is a town too small to show up on most maps. The Tipsy Q Ranch, now the Tipsy Q National Wildlife Refuge, is just outside of town. On it is a herd of unicorns. The refuge's managers are Samuel and Libby Quarrels Coldpony, the ranch's former owners. Most of the unicorns stay in the mountains. However one, Phyllis, a sturdy mare, stays with the horses. She's tamer than the other unicorns and lets only Libby and her step-daughter Alma, an Ute shaman, ride her. Mark Rand
Re: Batgirl: TAS, version 2.0 Henry Hayes is the President of the United States and a former air force officer. His wife, Kathryn, is head nurse at George Washington University Hospital's eye clinic. Their daughter, Holly, is married and they both work for the Ross Brothers Circus. Holly trains the big cats and her husband leads the band. Edward Martin, the Vice President, is an African-American. His wife, June, is an eye surgeon and a professor at the George Washington University Medical School. Like Kathryn Hayes, she usually wears dark-blue scrubs. Their daughter, Ronna, lives with her mother's parents and attends high school in Sommerset Township, which is across the river from Gotham City. Mark Rand
Re: Batgirl: TAS, version 2.0 I'm contemplating two different looks for Batgirl's costume, the "Barbara Gordon" look, with flats instead of heels, and the "Cassandra Cain" look. Any suggestions?

Mark Rand
Re: Batgirl: TAS, version 2.0 Barbara has, finally, talked Keiko into occasionally joining her in the field. This will let Keiko field test her own gear. Her masked identity is Black Scorpion. The Scorpionmobile, like the Batmobile, is a highly modified Lamborghini Murcielago. Black Scorpion's costume, like Batgirl's, started out as a figure-hugging, armored, black leather jumpsuit. Both women wear utility belts, which are combinations of multipowers and VPPs. Black Scorpion wears a bracer on her right arm that carries a climbing line and stunner. Also, her gloves have retractable claws that are designed for fighting, not climbing. The ladies are planning two more vehicles, a van to carry the radio control Batcopter and a full-sized Batcapter that's based on the Bell 222-B. Eosin
Re: Batgirl: TAS, version 2.0 Hmmm..... Are you running this game world or are you designing it? I can't tell. I am trying to figure out why the Arthurian and Amazonian stuff is in play .... and the JLA.

I am trying to figure out why the Arthurian and Amazonian stuff is in play .... and the JLA. I'm designing a world that I hope to run. The Arthurian and Amazonian stuff is there to give players a few ideas for character background. The Justice League of America exists, with Batgirl being a member. Wonder Woman doesn't come from Themyscira. Instead, she's an Amazon that Artemis, the patron goddess of the Amazons, empowered. Nancy knows who Wonder Woman is and has given the heroine her blessing. Mark Rand
Re: Batgirl: TAS, version 2.0 One of Batgirl's allies is occult expert Jason Blood. From him, she learned about vampires, Slayers, Watchers, and related items. Although dealing with vampires is someone else's job, Batgirl carries a couple of stakes in her utility belt, just in case she catches a vampire feeding.
