Golden Age: a Team F-Up Limited Series

When my regular Sunday night gamers showed up to play my Team F-Up campaign

They were handed new character sheets and miniatures. Their collective “HuH?” was only by the words

 

Europe, 1945

 

Since Team F-Up’s newest member was going to be a legacy of a previously unknown WWII character, I wanted to establish the original in the campaign. One of the PCs was very active in the 1940’s so I wanted his player to recognize the legacy’s name when he appears in our regular game set in 2057.

 

The characters are:

 

Captian Mysterion (Billy Benedict), a teenaged orphan sharing his body with an ancient demigod.

 

American Ace- Hot shot pilot, marksman and the War Department’s favorite recruiting poster.

 

The Gauntlet (Sgt Denny O’Murray), a US Army Sargent in possession of a magical gauntlet which grants him great strength and invulnerability.

 

Hotspur (Constance Avery) , the fastest woman in England.

 

With them is Cpl. Sandy Hamilton, US Army.

 

The Story so far:

 

Billy’s “uncle” (Cab Elliot, War Department) visits him at Eton to send him to Alsace-Lorraine. He is to meet up with the rest of the team and inform them of their mission. They are to capture a German scientist and his research data before the Russians find him. Under no circumstances is the team to allow any data to fall into the hands of the Soviets.

 

Captain Mysterion flies to France to meet the team. He finds them at a field hospital where they have just dropped a group of rescued allied POWs for treatment. After informing the group of the mission, they hopped into American Ace’s captured Messerschmitt Me 261 and headed toward the Alps…

Has a nice GA feel to it. Oh, and BTW, read your freakin' PMs.

 

Sidenote: I'm having real problems with the good doctor. If you can help me out with some suggestions for a base....

Episode 2:

 

American Ace flies the Me 261 "right up the Kaiser's schnitzel hole". He tells the rest of the team to bail out as the anti-aircraft fire gets bad. He aims the plane at Dr Strauss' castle/labotatory and jumps.

 

Hotspur's chute doesn't open and she plummets toward the ground. Billy says his magic phrase and is turned into Capt Mysterion. He catches Hotspur in the air and sets her down safely.

 

The team regroups on the ground. Hotspur scouts ahead and reports soldiers everywhere. Gauntlet notices a figure in the woods. It's Red Star, a Soviet superhero. He chides them on their less than subtle arrival and fades back into the woods.

 

The team presses on. Capt M uses his claisentience to scope out the castle. He sees the Doctor supervising the loading of an uber-zeppelin. The rest of the team hears a loud clanking and crashing from the woods. Hotspur reports a human tank is approaching. It is decided that Capt M and Gauntlet will hold off the tank man while American Ace, Hotspur and Cpl Hamilton go ahead and steal the blimp.

 

As the Panzer crashes into the clearing, Mysterion and Gauntlet rush him. Mysterion punches him, knocking him down. The Panzer opens up on Capt M with his guns, sending him flying. As Mysterion struggles to his feet, Gauntlet rushes forward. Panzer jumps up, grabs Gauntlet and thows him toward Mysterion. He misses.

 

Mysterion tags the Panzer with his solar blast. Gauntlet gets up and runs toward the Panzer. As he gets near Mysterion, he signals him. Mysterion scoops Gaunltet up and tosses him fist first into the Panzer. The 'KLANG" is heard for miles as Gauntlet KOs the Panzer.

 

Meanwhile, Ace, Hotspur, and Cpl Hamilton find their way blocked by Die Valkyrie, Ace's frequent enemy. She taunts Ace and is tagged by a surprise flurry of punches from Hotspur. As she opens her mouth to use her deadly scream, Ace knocks her out. They tie her to a tree and move on. As Capt M and Gauntlet catch up, the team finds the way blocked by twenty German soldiers.

 

Cpl Hamilton says "Maybe we shoulda been sneakier?"

 

"We're Americans, son", says Ace. "We don't sneak. GET 'EM, BOYS!"
