Fnord23
Looking for input on this. How would you make a character that has a power that is always on except when he is using some sort of dampener. One example is DC's Human bomb. He explodes on contact with anything unless he is wearing his protective suit. A similar idea is a Ghost like character who is always desolid unless he is carrying his personal protoplasm alignment unit. So the idea I have is the char has some power that is always on, but has a focus of some sort that allows them to turn the power off. Is it a limitation on the power, or a seperate physical limitation? What do you think?
Koshka
Re: Help W/ Human Bomb and similar Char Design I'm cat-sitting at a friend's house, but once I get back to my home computer let me take a peek on the drive -- I may have a Human Bomb sheet. Lord Liaden
Re: Help W/ Human Bomb and similar Char Design The way I recommend doing this (which is currently rules-legal BTW) is to calculate how many Character Points your character saves on the Power construct by applying the Always On Limitation, adding that number of points to the character's sheet (essentially "buying off" Always On), and then Limiting those points by whatever reflects the Special Effects of the method the character uses to turn off the Power - in this case, Focus. Also Powers with the Limitation "Always On" can, with GM aproval, be turned off. If your GM is ok with you being able to turn it off regularly and for long periods of time. You could just simply buy a End reserve witha Limitation like "only for turning 'off powers" at a Minus 1 or 2 depending on the nature and effect of your powers. That way you could buy and end reserve with 1000 end and 20rec for just(at the minus 1 value and Focus lim such as OAF) 40pts. And if you use the formentioned idea those points might be very easy to come up with. La Rose.
CrosshairCollie
Re: Help W/ Human Bomb and similar Char Design A curious build (I've seen it in 4th Edition products, not sure if it's rules-legal now) is Multiform. You define one form as the 'protected' form (probably the true form), then build the 'powered' form as a second Multiform with the limitation 'Original Body Remains Behind And Comatose', as done with the Astral Projection form of Desolidification. Could work for the Ghost-type character or someone like Wildfire/NRG from DC ... in this case, the 'body left behind' is actually a lifeless suit.
