Re: A skeletal CU from 1st Ed Champions

Personally, if I were going to rewrite the world's history of the past few decades with something like UNTIL in it, I would introuduce the "having had the very existence of human civilization threatened on several occasions by alien invasion, extradimensional horrors, and megalomaniacal psychpaths with the powers of gods, the nations of Earth began to act rationally for a change and decided to form UNTIL, an organization that would safeguard the planet against such threats while remaining above mere Earthly politics."

Or something of that sort.

Which jibes (in the main) with how I visualized UNTIL when I read 1st Ed

those years ago. I always had images of Maj Martinez being much like

Lethbridge Stewart (except in rank of course) and the organization itself

as a cross between UNIT (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce) and UNCLE

(United Network Command for Law and Enforcement). With heavy dashes

of SHIELD thrown in of course. :D

And VIPER was (to me) always more THRUSH (Technical Hierarcy for the

Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity) than HYDRA.

Probably due to the whole Serpentine central computer system, which

echoes the central computer THRUSH uses (referenced in at least one

novel (The Dagger Affair)).....

Yeah, I realize I'm pulling stuff in from non-1st Ed sources. Shrug. :ugly:

Just my $.02US.
