If a focus is attacked specifically, does the person using the focus take any damage from the attack? Particularly if it's a case where the focus is attached to the character, but removeable?

 

Typically no, he does not, but ultimately it’s up to the GM to make the call. This is definitely something I’ll have to delve into more in The Ultimate Gadgeteer.

 

How is knockback treated in such a case? Does it matter whether the focus is accessible or inaccessible?

Generally in those cases Knockback is ignored, but if desired the GM could use the BODY rolled for the Knockback as a Disarm roll, with the gadget’s owner rolling his STR dice to see if he can hold onto the gadget in the usual manner for Disarms.
