Basil
http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap081006.html There are some pretty impressive cliffs on Mars, in the northern ice cap. Note that the picture is ~1km across, and shows a drop of ~1 km. Since the cliffs take up about 70-75% the width of the picture, that adds up to an impressive average drop. One hypothesis relates the formation of Chasma Boreale to underlying volcanic activity. Active vulcanism on Mars would be almost as newsworthy as life. BobGreenwade
Re: Solar HERO: Cliffs of Mars Forget about mapping Mercury. There's more than enough stuff in just mapping Mars to make a right decent Solar Hero campaign of just exploring that planet.

Makes for easier mapping.
RadeFox
Re: Solar HERO: Cliffs of Mars Nice photo, just got some new ones of one of Saturns moons yesterday too, complete with an ice eruption. Pretty cool how active the solar system is.
Steve Long
Re: Solar HERO: Cliffs of Mars Pretty cool how active the solar system is. And heck, that's without us being able to see all those aliens moving around out there, plotting to invade Earth. Stoopid cloakin' devices.... Stoopid cloakin' devices.... [/quote'] Ah, but not always! There are zillions of astronomical photos where you or I see only a fuzzy blot at the limit of resolution, but the lunatic fringe sees clear and indisputable proof of alien artifacts and installations. Naturally, as an adventure seed, the Game Master need only to postulate that a given photo is actually a snapshot of an alien gizmo, and work from there.
