Defenses vs. Armor Piercing

Are all defenses added together before being halved or is each defense halved before being added together? In other words, do you add your resistant PD with normal PD and then halve, or do you halve each one and then add together? For example, if you have 5 rPD and 5 PD, do you subtract 5 ((5+5)/2) or 6 ((5/2)+(5/2)) from the attack?

Just add 'em together. There's no need to multiply the bookkeeping in this game.
