The Brigade Universe

Campaign Description: This is a Standard Superhero campaign. The Player Character's are superheroes in a modern day world populated by Metahumans. They will fight against supervillains, villainous agencies, criminals, terrorists, etc… All the Characters Reformed Supervillains.

Importance of the Player Characters: The Characters should be able to work with ______ and the local Law Enforcement Agencies .

The Campaign World is identical to our own except for the presence of superpowers. It is both a brighter and darker world than the one you know. Advanced technologies have made old power sources obsolete and the environment is recovering from decades of abuse, but super powered megalomaniacs, terrorists, and armies have made the world a more dangerous place.

The PCs are the most important heroes in the campaign. Supers are people with powers, not the other way around. Normals are just as interesting as supers. There are more heroes and villains around than just the ones with superpowers.

Every PC, NPC, and Agency should stand out as a unique entity. Diverse ethnic, natural, and religious backgrounds make for memorable realistic NPCs. In any conflict between realism and fun, Fun wins. The best campaigns tell a story.

World Description: The Brigade Universe

Local Relations:

CAMPAIGN TONE

Morality: The Brigade Universe is mostly a four-color campaign, and for the most part the morality of the campaign will be four-color as well. However, there will be some crossover between good and evil, and thing will not always be black and white. Characters will find themselves making difficult decisions, but should always try to be good guys.

On the other hand "bad guys" will vary between being good guys working at cross goals to being extremely evil. Some times the character will be faced with scenes of extreme violence.

Realism: Strong, but the heroes will be expected to make ridiculous efforts and take huge risks to accomplish their goals Character death is a reality. If that is not enough to keep a player character alive, then they had best hope the rest of the team likes them.

Outlook: While the outlook will be mostly positive, there will be many dark moments and many challenges outside of combat.

Seriousness: While the overall tone of the campaign will be very serious, there will be time for a certain amount of light hearted banter, or comic relief. The heroes will be Granite City's best defense against the direst of situations. This does not mean that there is no room for humor. Witty repartee, creative use of powers, and the way you play should provide plenty of humor in the midst of even the direst situation.

Continuity: The game will be entirely serial. Player actions in one scenario will have effects on later scenarios and continuity will be enforced. Adventures will move linearly through time. Bad guys will remember who you are and what you did to them, and the press will print your exploits for the world to see.

Episode 1: The Recruitment

Sun., Aug., 09th, 2009.

Unnamed Metahuman Prison

Prisoner # MAB26313

Ragnar Constantine (aka Adamas)

The electronic alarm blares at me for a few seconds I wake up disoriented, wondering where I am, what's happening, and then I remember. The pain in my neck aches where I slept on the Power Suppression Collar. I have not had a lot of experience with prisons, but from what the other convicts tell me this one is nicer than most, especially for Metahumans like us.

Every morning its the same routine, wearing the same cloths, eat the same foods, and listen the same conversations over and over again. Today things are different, at 1300hrs I have a parole hearing meeting. I try not to get my hopes up, but in here its hard. I have waited four years, forty minutes shouldn't be a problem. Killing time is what we do.

The Guardsmen arrive at my cell in full tactical gear and sonic rifles at the ready. I follow their instructions to the letter and they escort me to the meeting room. I can not black out the taunts, cat calls, and whistles of the other convicts. We arrive at the conference room, but when I look up and around all I see is one person sitting at the table. His cloths and demeanor scream Fed. When he looks at me he smiles and butts out his cigarette.

I was a little in shock and missed most of what he said, but the gist of it was for one years service my sentence would be commuted an I would be a free man. The Department of Metahuman Affairs was building a Superhero Team for Granite County, New Jersey. Its intent is prove to the public that former Supervillains can be rehabilitated and could serve the people well. If I agreed I would be transferred to a DMA Academy where I would be trained as a Federal Agent for six months and then transferred to Granite City to join my team.

The final nail in the coffin

Introduction of Corsair and Vindicator Vingette's

Misunderstandings with Rebel

While on patrol sees a woman thrown out of a window into the street. A foul mouthed leather clad biker walks out of the bar in pursuit. Rumor attacks and discovers his opponent is a Metahuman and alerts Adamas on monitoring duty. He in turn alerts alert Corsair, Vindicator, and Agent Stone directing them to their access points for Dr. Ingenious's Subway Transport System and races there himself.

Meanwhile Rumor continues to battle his Metahuman opponent to little effect. He manages to rescue the unknown woman and sends her to their base via a the transport system without his opponent seeing it. Then Adamas arrives, he gets Rumor to distract opponent and Adamas leaps behind him striking him from surprise to little effect.

The suspect continues with the foul mouthed insults and demanding to be given the woman. Adamas identifies himself as a DMA Agent and informs him he is under arrest. The suspect strikes him, but Adamas rolls with the blow. Rumor continues trying to stab him. The suspect them kicks Adamas so hard in the sweet spot that he flies into the air and then tosses Rumor a couple of blocks away.

I broadcast an waring, declaring the suspect a Paragon Level Threat. at this point Corsair and Vindicator join the fray and try to subdue the suspect. Corsair with a Telekinetic Strike and Vindicator with a Nero Stunner. This distracts the suspect, but he continues to manhandle us.

Agent Stone identifies the suspect too late as Rebel, unacknowledged son of Paragon, an Omega Level Metahuman. He orders us to break contact.

Adamas orders the others clear and act as rear guard. I blitz and miss, but Vindicator distracts him and I blitz again. The impact cause a shock wave, but when the dust clears Rebel stands unfazed Adamas's throat in his hand.

He casually tosses the stunned Adamas into the harbor. He then pursues Vindicator and interrogates him.

Rebel realizes his mistake convinces Vindicator to show him to their Secret Base and take him to the woman.

When they arrive Agent Stone meets them. Chagrined Rebel flies off to collect the rest of the Granite Brigade.

He finds Corsair skimming along at street level towards the base. He picks him up, apologies roughly and flies back to the base at supersonic speed.

He finds Rumor skulking across the rooftops and does the same for him.

Lastly he finds Adamas slowly trudging along the bottom of the sea floor towards shore and repeats the transport.

Once everyone had returned to base he demanded to see the woman. Agent Stone agrees, but informs him that the woman was dead. She committed suicide biting down on a poison tooth.

Rebel finally explains that the woman had posed as a teacher at his childrens private school and had stolen DMA samples from his children. A girl age 13 and a boy age unknown.

Adamas searches the body and finds two small metal sample containers with hair follicles inside. Rebel takes them, incinerates the samples and crushes the tubes violently.

Rumor comments that the woman's trade craft sounded remarkably like that of The Crimson Claw. Adamas preforms a preliminary autopsy, chemical analysis on the poison, and scans the body for later examination by Dr. Ingenious.

Rumor declines to take more of Dr. Ingenious's nanites and Agent Stone takes him to the hospital. Meanwhile Corsair and Vindicator head back to the battleground to aid cleanup and introduce the press to the newest members of the Granite Brigade.

* Bomb at train station.

* Gamma radiation blocks Rebels tracking ability.

* Plans to draw out the people behind it the stolen DNA samples of Rebel's kids. Leak that are still out there somewhere.

* DMA Agents take the body to be autopsied and whined up dead, their vehicle destroyed, and the body taken.

Diner at Dr. Ingenious's house with his wife and little girl (Child Prodigy).

Port Authority Police Chief requests the DMA's assistance and they dispatch the Granite Brigade. In a warehouse dock we meet an Atlantean named Mercurious, Captain of the Border Patrol.

His people had tracked a submarine that had attacked an Atlantean archeology dig and had stolen several relics from the site. A Crown, a Mirror, a Scepter, and two Skulls.

He warned that if the relics where not returned immediately that King Neptune would order the Atlantean Army to find it.

He also indicated that the Atlantean diplomatic break with the United States was due to internal pressures. That the return of these Relics would go a long way to repairing the break.

Agent Stone advises Adamas through the commlink.

Tracked the submarine to one of two Dockyard Warehouses and selected the most likely one.

Rumor scouted and located the Submarine, attacking the sailors with Gas Grenades and engaging one in combat.

Vindicator attacked from underwater. Disabling the Submarine and beaching it.

Relics returned to the Atlanteans and the beginning of normalized relations between Atlantis and the US.

Dr. Ingenious's

Epilogue:

The Crimson Claw recovers his dead Agent and resurrects her.

The Good:

Character Points Awarded +3

Rumor rams Rebel with a Semi Truck to little effect.

When Rebel tears himself free. Adamas's player cries "Optimus! Noooooo!!!" GM cracks up

Vindicator's neural scrabbler seemed the most effective against Rebel.

The Bad:
