JmOz
Idea is simple: As part of the magic system the character must take RSR on all spells When he goes to cast a spell another mage can (Using there Spellcasting Power Skill) screw it up It goes to a Skill vs skill contest, basicaly the dispelling mage rolls there dice, the level of success becomes a penalty to the first mage's skill roll. The system does require a Side effect to spell casting and I am also thinking of making the dispelling mage suffer a side effect if they fail the spell casting roll (But not if they succeed in giving a penalty that the other mage overcomes) so the question of is this a -0, -1/4 or a -1/2 lim
Hugh Neilson
Re: Dispell Magic My gut feel is a breakeven. Your spells can be frustrated by opposing spell casters, but you get the ability to frustrate opposing spellcasters for free. How often do you expect the skill vs skill contest to replace the usual RSR roll? It seems reasonable for the limitation to fall somewhere between the base RSR roll, and the limitation for skill vs skill RSR, tending more to the one you expect will be relevant more often. See I can't find a SvS RaR (6th edition)...seems to me their was one in 5th edition thinking that if I allow other spellcasters to compliment the roll, then that might balance with the SvS aspect
Sean Waters
Re: Dispell Magic I agree with Hugh - it is a wash unless the character is going to take a much higher Magic Skill than average.
Sean Waters
Re: Dispell Magic One option would be just take RSR as required then tack on an additional limitation to the spell 'Can be disrupted by an opposed Magic Skill Roll' and make that -1/4 (or -0 if spell casters are rare, -1/2 or more if they aver very common). That way your spells cost less and you get what you want
Hierax
Re: Dispell Magic In 5e RSR that was subject to a skill vs. skill contest was worth -1/4 more of a Limitation on the RSR. It isn't in 6e but easy to add back in as a Custom Modifier. Besides Dispel it also makes a good way to simulate Magic Resistance and/or Saving Throws vs. Spells. Too useful of a tool not to have in the RSR toolbox.

prestidigitator
Re: Dispell Magic It seems 6E dropped Negative Skill Levels as well. That's a bummer. I thought they were a very promising and underused mechanism. Hmm. Change Environment....
