Matt Holck
I've got this variable Energy Bolt It does a base 4d6 and than I roll 3d6 and subtract the roll from 16 and add the number of d6 (+8d6 max) For Example, if I roll a 12, the attack does 4 base + (16-12=4) = 8d6 total I buy this power using limitation on parts of it 20 4d6 Energy Bolt 4 +1d6 activation 15- -1/4 (5*4/5=4) 3 +1d6 activation 14- -1/2 (5*2/3=10/3) 3 +1d6 activation 13- -1/2 (5*4/5=10/3) 2 +1d6 activation 11- -1 (5*1/2=5/2) 2 +1d6 activation 10- -5/4 (5*4/9=20/9) 2 +1d6 activation 9- -3/2 (5*2/5=2) 2 +1d6 activation 8- -2 (5*1/3=5/3) 38 points on the low average, this attack does 9d6

Hugh Neilson
Re: I've got this variable Energy Bolt I have a genie-type character with a Magic VPP. It has "change with no roll, 14-", "change as half phase action, 11-" and "change as zero phase action, 8-". If he wants to change the VPP, he stops to think about it. On 8-, he snaps up the answer in no time. On 8 - 11, he changes it, and has a half phase left to act. On 12 - 14, he changes it but uses his whole phase in the process. On 15+, he keeps thinking and loses the phase to no effect.
Matt Holck
Re: I've got this variable Energy Bolt I once did something similar with a duplication. The guy got at least 2 duplicates and up to 5. Well I'm considering a time janitor that sets a point in the present that he must travel back to in the near feature. I would simulate this using duplication and danger sense ..the duplicates would be the character from the future ..and the danger sense would represent the character have some idea of what's going to happen ....(having traveled back in time and thus changing the time stream the near future is not entirely predictable) I could see his duplication on an activation roll 15- for one future self 12- for two future selves 10- for three future selves 8- for four future selves
