AnotherSkip
So I have been running a campaign for a while now and I think there are a few plotlines the characters have run through or developed/resolved to a point where they wont visit it again. Do any other Gm's also have thes for their camapaigns? For example: the team encounters a DNPC being posessed by a pirate ghost. demanding: ship (s), treasure and wenches the team folds this into a quest to find quality poker players to win a hammer away from a dwarf and prevent a supervillian returning/reoccuring. they take him to treasure island in Las Vegas and he posesses the ship. Excellent flavor for a Vegas adventure and a possible future plot for a future vegas superheroics. but not this camapign, with this group, since they allready 'know' the 'secret'. BoloOfEarth
Re: Future Plot Hooks Well, you could revisit it, making the heroes' knowledge of the 'secret' be intrinsic for solving the new plot. For instance, long after the Las Vegas adventure, mysterious thefts of gold Kruggerands, silver dollars, rare coins, etc. (but always coins and jewelry, no paper money) happen in various locations in the US. Each time its an inside person doing it but all claim they don't remember stealing the coins/jewels/etc. But when it happens to a hero's DNPC, it goes from being a curiousity to requiring the heroes' attention. They discover the DNPC had travelled to Vegas (he has no memory of this) after the theft, and find security camera footage of him dumping the coins in the pool where the pirate ship is. Yep, the pirate is making road trips to build up some booty
BoloOfEarth
Re: Future Plot Hooks As far as in my game, I ran an adventure arc where the son of a team DNPC was kidnapped by VIPER and held in a private school out of state. They were using the kid to get the DNPC (a politician) to introduce certain resolutions and vote their way on things. Once the heroes discovered the kidnapping, located the school, and rescued the kid -- as well as uncovering the secret VIPER base underneath the main building and publicly revealing VIPER's connection to the school -- it pretty much made that whole location and setup unusable. It was in a remote enough location that if anything that happens in that area, the heroes are likely to check out that school "just in case."
