Unorthodox AVAD defenses

IndianaJoe3

Question

Would a Characteristic be a legitimate defense against an AVAD Power (for example, the target's CON acting as a defense against a disease or poison)? (Presumably, a Characteristic would be a Very Common defense.)

In a similar vein, would it be legal to have a Power (or set of Powers) with a given FX act as a defense against an AVAD attack that is not all-or-nothing (as an example, consider a necromantic bolt that is lessened by divine power (holy FX spells))?

Can an AVAD attack go against one of two (or more) defenses? (Presumably, always going against the higher would be limiting, and the lower would be advantageous.)
