KingsTears
I feel *so* noobish.... I cannot remember how to build a simple force field. Been gone too long from the game, and I ran back in the 5th when it was a basic package. Now I've got access to the cool HD6, but cannot fathom how to just build a force field that I turn on. I did figure out how to simply buy some rPD and rED and then round out by buying the rest off the Characteristics page. This is somehow very unsatisfying compared to just getting a FF. Hugh Neilson
Re: Aaaagh! Force Field The plain vanilla 5e force field is just rPD and rED that costs END. Season to taste - if you want an invisible force field that you turn on and off at will, then that's just rPD and rED (rather than a Force Field, 0 END, Persistent, IPE, which was way more costly than just buying rDEF). If you want it to shut down if you're KO'd, but not cost END, then it's rPD and rED with Nonpersistant (a bit cheaper than standard rDEF, unlike older editions where the 0 END field cost the same, but went down if you did). You could make it Visible, if you and your GM agree there is a drawback to the field being obvious which is sufficient to justify a limitation. You culd buy some of it nonresistant if you think a large force field is appropriate, but complete invulnerability to killing attack BOD is not. Removal of Force Field as a separate power solves a lot of comparative costing issues, since it really is just a special effect for defenses. As well, since many/most "force fields" in the source material seem more like force walls in mechanical terms, removal of the specific powers in favour of "barrier" and "sfx for resistant defenses" will hopefully alleviate some of that confusion.
