gamerguy Posted October 6, 2003 Report Share Posted October 6, 2003 How would one model the Massive Damage power from SILVER AGE SENTINELS in HERO? I have a player who wants to be able to do much more damage with thrown knives than a base throwing knife would do. Skill levels so as to better hit certain hit locations does not work, neither does energy blast defined a "throwing knives". We are looking for a good way to tack-on extra damage to a mundane weapon. dugfromthearth Posted October 6, 2003 Report Share Posted October 6, 2003 simple buy extra damage with the limitation OIF- weapon of opportunity (since you can use it with any weapon not just one weapon, if it is with just one specific weapon it would be OAF) this is in the martial arts book for guns. so being better at doing damage with weapons +1d6 rka [15], OIF- weapon of opportunity [-1/2] AP: 15, RC: 10 doing more damage with your daggers then normal people +1d6 rka [15], OAF-daggers [-1] AP:15, RC: 7 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The Combat Skill Levels, along with Martial Arts and Str, could no more than double the DCs of the base attack (the dagger). Otherwise they could work just fine for this. Pattern Ghost Posted October 8, 2003 Report Share Posted October 8, 2003 Of course, you could build the knives as Hand Killing Attacks with the Ranged Advantage. Pretty common write up of a knife. Just set the damage to taste. If he can use the damage with any thrown knife, not just his own, then buy them as OIF. 0 END is also good on weapons. Something like: Xd6 HKA, Can be thrown (+1/2), 0END (+1/2), OIF, Knives of Opportunity (-1/2), Range Based on STR (-1/4, I think). Of course, if he's really good with the knives, you could put on some Autofire, AP, etc. Of course, if they're only useful for ranged combat, go with RKA.
