Every year the Pumpkin King rose from the darkest pumpkin patch to stalk the darkness, breaking in and killing their playmates. This year the children have had enough. They destroyed every pumpkin patch in the district, stole the strongest plants and planted them in holy ground. Then they lit a smokey fire with pumpkins (which are wet inside and therefore make thick black smoke) on the day of a weird solar eclipse* making it dark for an hour or so. Every child know the spell to keep the Pumpkin King away for a little while, and if they can keep up the chanting he'll be trapped until light comes. Without a sacrifice and in a churchyard he will die forever. Unfortunately the forgot about the local preacher, who is suspicious of their activities. Will he know a chant of protection from a chant of summoning? Even if he does will he let them be to complete the ceremony? * Notice how the "moon" is dark in the centre but light all the way around?
