Positive Change of SPD in the Middle of a Turn

Christopher

Question

Situation:

Character A has SPD 5 without any Limitations.

In the middle of his turn (Segment 8) he activates a Power that gives hims +1 SPD (SPD, full phase to activate or something the like).

Later in the Segment he is hit by enough AID SPD to give him another +1 SPD, for a total of 7.

As I understand it, if the Game does not use the optional SPD change rules, he continues to act at SPD 5 until the end of his turn. The same as if he always had SPD 7 normally but choose to act at SPD 5 for this Turn.

My question concerns what happens if the game does use this rule:

Is the player forced to increase his "acting SPD" to 7 (potentially loosing phases)? Or could he choose to continue too act on SPD 5 until he find a convenient time (like post Segment 12) to use his improoved SPD?

Re: Positive Change of SPD in the Middle of a Turn

Once a character’s SPD is increased, he can’t ignore that and act at a lesser SPD. He’s always free to skip a Phase if he wants to, but that’s not the same as “acting at a lesser SPD.” If the GM feels this causes some sort of inequity due to the way changing SPD works, he is, as always, free to make some other ruling.
