beastialwarlust
Ok a newbie question here. I'm looking to design the power push hands for tai chi. Now the way I want to use the power is as more of a redirection of force but I can't seem to design it the way I want. My first thought was to use the absorption ability to use the oppenents strength against him. but I don't see a way to make the d6 amount variable and get a active cost. here's how i picture it to work: Attacker A throws a punch at a pc with Tai chi. they both have to make attack rolls assuming the defender is successful the attacker still rolls his stun damage but it applies to himself as the Tai chi practioner "redirects this force against him. I wants this so that it changes depending upon the attackers str and not a set amount. so if one attacker has a 15 str it would do 3d6,if another had a 10 it would do 10d6,etc... Here's some Idea's on how I would build this power. absoption with the knockback advantage or HA with the damage shield advantage with the following limitations : - 1/4 power stops if character is stunned/knocked out -1/4 requires successful atttack roll -1/4 not when grabbed I hope I explained it clearly . Your help is appreciated.
tesuji
Some large dice of HA Damage shield continuous 0 end IPE (because it is not visible that you have this defenses up) with disadvantages for requires a to-hit roll -1/2 limited to no more damage than the attack would do -1/4 probably you do not get anything for not when stun/ko since a non-persistent ds would not work then by default

But I don't rememberoff hand what it's worth.
KA.
You may want to look at the Counterstrike maneuver from the Ultimate Martial Artist. It does STR +2d6 and must follow a successful Block. Most likely your Tai Chi master will either have some damage classes and/or STR so that you can do as much damage as the incoming attack would have done. You could put in a Limitation that the Counterstrike can only do the same dice of damage as the incoming attack. As far as game mechanics, it should work more or less the way you want it to. Guy attacks you, you both make Attack rolls. If you win, his attack is Blocked and then you do that amount of damage to him. Not perfect, but not too bad.
