  1. Stormwatch and the Authority I haven't read either of the comic story lines. The only thing I remember are fragments from what I read when I accidentally came across it. There's a lot of interesting comic story lines I haven't read come to think of it. Need to work on that. Glad to know you can run a campaign you feel follows the pulse of the comics.
  2. Re: Campaigns bases off alternate sources. That sounds interesting. I didn't include StormWatch, because from what I read, it went on to become the Authority, which has it's own RPG.
  3. Working on characters Alright. I'm working on helping my friends create characters for our first Champion style game, and introduce them to Hero. In it, they are going to be the first superheroes in a world where comic books and such exist, so there are no laws to have superheroes to have contracts and such for their heroic identities. All of them are planning to have Secret Identities. One of them, K, is planning on having her character be a personal shopper, and wants to have her heroic identity fund a homeless shelter, which is along the lines of DNPC, multiple people. I was thinking about this a moment Me: How do you plan on paying for this anyways? K: I figure I can have access to the same money I do as my personal shopper. (A point I can't argue, but this gets included) J (a friend and another player who was listening): *Cough* Uh... There's a problem with your check...
  4. Alright. So it seems to me that most of the champions games played that are talked about seemed to be based on the Marvel Univers, DC Universe, or the Champions Universe. Some to a lot has been changed to fit the players and be more original, but these are the main sources Does anyone run or has considered running a campaign based on an alternate source? Image or Mirage comic universes for example. "Soon I Will Be Invincible" is a book based of comics, but has a strong comic style to it. Wanted (the graphic novel, not the movie) and Watchmen could be material, though more for Dark Champions then regular. You get the point though.
  5. the dehydrator I don't quite now how this would be set up, so I'll give you the basic concept. Basically, the person can make dehydrated fruit. I know it would require limitation (fruit only). "Behold my power!" creates a dehydrated strawberry.
  6. Re: superuseless superpowers Talk to cats. That could lead to some major problems in the wrong hands, *Looks at his* Person: Okay fluffy, what happened here? Cat: Well, I ate, licked myself, took a nap, then chest a beam of light on the wall. Couldn't catch it though. Once it disappeared. I laid in the sun and enjoyed a nap. Person: But who broke in and robbed the place? Cat: Oh, I don't notice small things. I have more important things to pay attention to.

    Build A Kaiju

Eat PETA If the story DOES include PETA, and they do try to save the creature and it habitat as an endangered species, can we have them be eaten? Or just have them be first? I mean what better way to start then a nice PETA snack?
  8. Can't see through your clothes I was talking to a friend about his potential champion character, which he plans on making like a mix between Superboy and Nightwing. So, we had talked about flight, and he mentioned wanting X-ray vision. I read the description for N-Ray Perception, which in the description says there has to be a material they cannot see through. Naturally he chose lead. But while talking about it, a friend came up with: N-ray Perception (Cannot see through Cotton)

New can be difficult A new idea can be difficult with a concept like this, especially since Godzilla has been around and smashing for over fifty years. Maybe you can try a different source though. Like the Rampage games, especially total destruction with the bonus characters. How often do you see giant wolves, or bulls? You can try thinking in view of your game world. Are you going to be using a world from scratch, or your own take of the champions universe? If it's the second, then think about your own villains. Any villain who work with genetics, cybernetics, or machines? The first and third could actually attempt to create a monster of their own, quite possibly by accident, or could lose control of it. In the case of the second, they could create one from the remains of an existing one, or from parts of some other large creatures. Maybe you could try other source material. Watch some good old episodes of Power Rangers. Have something of interest to one of your players some how get turned into a monster.
  10. Black Canary and Ghostrider Hellsong. A female who at night has flaming hair and the abiltiy to unleash a song that all in earshot are forced to feel the suffering of their sins. Supergirl and Nightcrawler
  11. Appreciate more certain views It's nice to know so many are more confident than I on the matter. Seems the majority agree to Only in Heroic Identity. As one person mentioned, I do plan on eventually buying it off so the character gets full access to the powers as they get older And to CoreBrute, I'm afraid that since I plan on gming the campaign and none of my friends are previously experienced with the Hero systerm. I know few people so there is no one off the thread I can ask about.
  12. Re: Anime style magic girl. Two possible ways I guess I'll elaborate a little more on it. The show was called Cyberteam in Akihabara. In it, the girl had this pet and her feelings for it called forth a being that looked to be an older version of the girl. Taller, more muscular, more develped, older, and a warrior with armor. So it gave me an idea based off that. Instead of summoning an what looked like an older version of the non heroic form of the character, the character themself would transform into this older, more powerful form. Possibly as they developed, growing up and such, the charcter would change so that she would actually start to take on the traits of her superhero form.
  13. Alright. I've just recently gotten into the Hero system and am working on my first Champion game, so I'm new at this. I have experience with Rpgs so I'm not completely inexperienced. Anyway, I'm toying around with various ideas with additional heroes, and some villains. A friend and I watched a anime which had the "magical girl" who transforms to get powers. So it has me thinking of trying something like that with my own. I have been reading through the book to get to know the system, and there are two ways I could do it. Both of them would work, but being new, I would like some advice from more experienced players. The first is that all the powers would have the limitation "only in superhero identity." Since the character would be a normal person until they became a superhero, none of the powers would be active while they were a normal person. The other would be to use Multiform, buying the points for the heroic version until it matches the point system for campaign. This seems like it would be easier to me, but I think it would leave me with extra points in the normal form and wondering what to do with them. So, what do you think?
