  1. Re: Superpowers and the Law

Nice...One of my "game world" laws is established precident "Any attack on a known superbeing is not assault" Spider-dude and claw master "acidentally tangle?" No harm' date=' no foul. See a costumed freak, panic and shoot? Who cares? Viper pushed this case through, under the cover of Pro Bono defence of a beloved super.(Of course a crooked DA and a frame up were involved as well ;))....Mercinary Supers hide behind this one like crazy....[/quote']

    That's just asking for trouble.

    :sneaky:

  2. Re: Whoops! Did I really allow that power?

Way back in 2nd Edition I saw a player buy 6 levels of growth, usable on others with an area effect. The GM was nee, having moved over from 1st Edition V&V and thought it sounded sort of cool. Anyway, it was allowed.

Do you know how many ants can be found in the average ant hill? There were millions of them!!

Wasn't there a movie about giant ants?

  3. Re: Real Crimefighters Like The Wall Creeper?

Seriously, has anyone statted up any real crimefighters yet?

Obviously, I don't mean the people that do charity work while dressed in a costume. I mean people like Captain Jackson, the Chicago crimefighter, who first started patrolling the streets to stop crime because the police were understaffed. He's been sanctioned by the Chief Of Police now, and the Chief has ordered his police force not to try and identify Captain Jackson, or anyone of a small number of other Chicagi based superheroes.

Or the Justice Society of Justice, now serving twice as much justice as 'those other guys', based in Indiana, like Mr Silent.

    Anyone statted them up yet?

Um, is this Real World? Or not, what's the source?

  4. Re: Name this PC - please?

Libra, for the Scales of Justice. I assume though the process let him down, he still believes in the concept of justice.

Also, it gives a couple ways he can mislead bad guys where his powers come from. I always like names like that.

  5. Re: Superpowers and the Law

We start from Chapter Two of fourth edition Dark Champions. Makes it simple. ;)

The Good Samaritan laws have real teeth; you almost can't be sued if your helping someone, even if you goof. Only if "a reasonable person" would know you were really doing dumb.

A jury can demand to here or see any evidence the judge barred them from seeing or hearing. A jury has the right to know everything brought up as evidence.

"Not guilty by reason of insanity" means the defendant is unable to take care of himself at all, and must be PERMANENTLY put in a "home" for dangerous crazies. No "temporary insanity," no "cannot conform actions to the law," none of that. He's either too crazy to take care of himself at all, ever, or he's sane enough to take the punishment.

"What is sapient?" --- thumbnail definition: if it can debate the question, it is sapient.

Others if I think of them.

  6. Re: character with wish granting powers

Giving 'something else' is usually a change to the character in the end... Major Transform can give or take away the Money perk, or Reputation, Vehicle or Base, even Disadvantages.

Major Transformation: Anything into Anything... for all your Wish granting needs.

You can look at it that way of course. But if the wish granter hands a pile of money, or a fast car, that's not the same as the money perk or the vehicle perk.

I look at it like you don't have to pay points for mundane things. I guess I'm used to Normal-Level games.

Its all good. Its just a different point of view. :)

  7. Re: Whoops! Did I really allow that power?

Fellow not much experienced with Hero asked me about a character; lucky him, I spotted this combo, and it got nixed:

    Rapid Autofire

    Rapid Attack

    Skipover Sprayfire

Combat Skill Levels, +2 OCV with one particular type of autofire weapon (4 points)

+4 Penalty Skill Levels vs. Rapid Fire OCV penalties. (6 points)

It would not have been quite a game-breaker, but it did mean the character would be too effective with autofire. Give him Set and Brace, and his target would be full of holes, period.
