  1. I'm kind of confused on the Block maneuver.  Don't you either have to have a half-phase saved to use it, or abort to it if you want to use it.  They way it's written up in the 5th edition it sounds like you can use it anytime you want.

Savage Earth is my favorite fan-created Hero campaign world. Evocative of Thundarr the Barbarian, but far more adult and detailed. Keith put so much loving attention into it, it wouldn't take a lot to turn it into a publishable book. If I ever win a big lottery prize I intend to approach Keith to do just that. :D

That sounds cool!  Where does one find Savage Earth now days?  I wouldn't mind checking it out.

I have the GammaWorld 4th edition book and it was a great game. Never played the other versions but I'm sure they were good also. Gamma World is really a game where i would just make hero characters based on themes rather than trying to convert stats or mechanics. You basically have Normal Humans, Mutant Humans, Mutant Animals, Mutant Ferns, and if you want to expand it a bit robots. I think the freeform nature of Hero system would really fit Gamma World.

Also instead of a milkman could you persuade him to make it a good humor ice cream salesman? : ) Classic 50's goodguy.

I have to wholeheartedly agree with you.  The Hero System is perfect for Gamma World.  I can't wait to read the Post-Apocalyptic Hero book and begin a campaign.  This looks like a great section of the forums that will help me tremendously.  :)

  4. I was going to run a Champions campaign using Hero System 5th Edition, but after writing up some characters based on 350 points I have decided that it is way easier to run a Heroic campaign on less points instead.  I am going to purchase Post-Apocalyptic Hero and run a post-apocalyptic game.  This thread is going to be very helpful.

Extra Dimensional Movement: UAA to "Oblivion". Only bite sized amounts at a time Linked Penetrating HKA (to bite off pieces)

Energy Blast/Killing attack: variable sfx (what he last ingested)?

Just another reason to love this system.  All the different ways to make powers is amazing!  Thank you.  :)

I don't like Matter-Eater Lad... I freaking love Matter-Eater Lad. As has been noted, he can eat lasers, so good ol' missile deflection was even on the menu, pun intended ;)

I think 1d6 NND is a good start, but he actually gets faster as he eats allowing him to dig tunnels and other massive quantities, which means that would likely have to increase at some point.

And it doesn't even have to fit in his mouth. He's eaten or at least bitten things that couldn't fit, so really it should just be a no range limitation with the effect that it has to go to his mouth.

Thanks for pointing me to that write-up on Matter-Eater Lad.  It was pretty cool.  :)

You could quite easily also go for the 1D6 NND Killing Attack, Does BODY, only what he can fit in his mouth.

    :-)

    Doc

Yeah, that's a cool way to do it.  But why only 1d6, and why the NND?

You're in good company, Jim. Many of us chose to continue using 5th.

Thanks, Marcus.  I really love 5th Edition so far.  I am reading both the original 5th Edition and the 5th Edition Revised to see what they updated.  So far, I love both of them and really enjoy reading this system.

a fifty-foot turkey would be awfully hard to roast without drying out the breast meat. I can't help but think that a fifty foot chicken would work better in some scenarios. (Even if you can't talk to it, like you might talk to fish.)

Happy (foreign) Thanksgiving, a few days late, everybody!

Better late than never!  It's always good to hear from our brothers and sisters in the Hero family.  :)
