Re: [Traveller Hero] What was it exactly?
Aaaaand.......THE BOOKS HAVE ARRIVED!! /joy joy/
Now it's time to get reading.

Re: [Traveller Hero] What was it exactly?
Book update: It's been three weeks since the date the company (through Amazon) claimed to have shipped the books but they still haven't arrived. However, they have given themselves a two month window. They say the books will be here sometime before August 3rd.

Re: [Traveller Hero] What was it exactly?
Update: I just got the "Your books have shipped" email from Amazon and a "Sorry it took so long" email from the seller! :D /joy joy/
The books still have an ocean to cross though, and anything could happen.

Re: [Traveller Hero] What was it exactly?
Does anyone know where I can access full Traveller HERO pdf files - preferably cheapI'd like to know too.
I'm convinced that this is the product that will make my life complete.

Re: [Traveller Hero] What was it exactly?
Sadly' date=' the last time I ordered the books on Amazon, they eventually sent me my money back with a "sorry, our seller didn't actually have any" message. Grumble, grumble.[/quote']I'm beginning to get worried. It's been a week since I ordered them and the Amazon site still shows that they haven't shipped yet.

Re: [Traveller Hero] What was it exactly?
I had been checking Amazon ever so often to see if they had this, and when I looked this morning...THEY DID.
They had one copy of books one and two it seems!
I of course promptly ordered both.
I just hope I don't get a "Sorry. We were only foolin'. We don't actually have it." email.

Re: [Traveller Hero] What was it exactly?
keep an eye on e-bay or Amazon there might be copies show up theretheres also an older version from before publication that was more of a preview
Where can the older version be found?
-
I mean I know that it was the Traveller setting in the Hero system, but was it just a direct conversion of the book?
If so, which version of Traveller?
Was anything new added? Anything taken out?
I know I may never find a copy but I would still like to hear more about it.

Re: Hero In Two Pages - Complete
Thanks - And post how it goes?Well, we've played a few sessions now, and it went very well.
I, of course, needed to make the characters for everyone, but they got the hang of combat, skill-use, etc. very quickly from reading the two-page summary.

Re: Beginner Character Creation
As a new HERO GM, I have personally decided that I'm not going to ask my players to be able to make their own characters for a while.
I will just ask them to describe what they want and I will make it for them. This way of doing it has been working out so far, and I will continue it until they themselves actively want to be able to start making their own characters.

Re: Really, Hero Games? Two Rulebooks?
I am of the opinion that the two core books are worth every penny of the price at the current $69.

Re: Hero In Two Pages - Complete
Thanks for making this.
This just the kind of thing I need to help ease my group into HERO.
I'm becoming quite the little herophile since I first got the 6th edition books but I still haven't had chance to run it yet.

Re: Yet another D&D to Fantasy HERO conversion
Very well done.
I plan on using this. Thanks.

Re: Independent Duplicates
Hmm... It's not really Mind Link' date=' because the information-sharing isn't two-way. Maybe the most elegant way to simulate this might be with skills (especially Knowledge Skills), and the fact that he has these "brothers" whose minds he can access is just the special effect for why he has these skills...[/quote']I agree.
@the OP: Just buy lots of skills and say that the reason he has access to those skills is from the "link". Done.

Re: Assuage my fears about the complexity
I first just want to clarify that I'm not the one who needs to learn the rules. I already know the rules. The thread is about how to get my players to learn the rules.
And so basically what I'm hearing is that the best thing to do is start them with pregens or characters that I make for them, play for a while and hope that they (or even one of them) gets interested enough to want to learn the rules.
The truth of it rings true.
I already know which guy is going to be the one to try and which guy is going to be the guy that plays for years and still won't be able to make his own character.

So I'm starting to like my new big HERO 6E books and I have a list of possible things I'd like to use it for.
BUT
It does look a bit on the crunchy side. And While I enjoy reading and learning game systems, I find that most other people don't. I know there is that 2-page summary of HERO thing, but after reading it, I see that, while having good info, it doesn't REALLY tell the player how to do anything.
So what's the best way to go about bringing this system on line for a group? What's the best way to go about teaching someone how to play? What about teaching someone how to make a character?
I have a fear that I won't be able to use this system because I won't be able to teach it to anyone.

Re: And 6e print books start to arrive
From the front page' date=' [b']Login[/b] with your user name and password. Then click on Purchases, and then on the date of your purchase. That will give you your tracking number. On my page, it just says "usps" in the tracking number column as opposed to a number. But it does claim that the order is "filled", though.

Re: The HERO System 6th Edition
Will Hero 6E be available through Amazon?
Or is ordering it directly through Hero Games the only way to get it?
I ask because I don't see it available for preorder on Amazon yet.

Wow. This is word for word the post that I made on RPG.net here and the GURPS forum here.
