  1. Re: Second Best Game System ? Savage Worlds for me. I'm running a Necessary Evil game right now. For those who don't know the setting, the premise is that the campaign world was attacked and conquered by aliens, who managed to wipe out most of the super-heroes, leaving the super-villains to fight against the alien oppressors. The tagline is "The fate of the world lies in the hands of the scum of the earth."
  2. Re: Destroy Your Geek Cred!! I've never played a Zelda game. Never played any incarnation of Halo. Very much dislike the new BSG. Have never read any of the Amber novels. Couldn't get into McCaffrey's stuff.
  3. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... The only one I can think of off the top of my head comes from a D&D game in college. Our party opened a storage closet in the ruins of a dungeon and it was full of a bunch of broken jars and a few intact ones. We got into a debate about whether we should open them here or take them back to town when the DM, clearly anxious, says, "Look guys, do you open the pudding?" I say, "No. We carefully set the pudding back on the shelf, re-lock the door and leave the room." He (mostly good-naturedly) accused us of meta-gaming and said that it could have been chocolate pudding in the urn. My response was, "We haven't killed Bill Cosby yet in here, so I'm willing to bet that wasn't the kind of pudding you were talking about!" "Do you open the pudding?" Has since become a buzz word for my friends as a warning not to do something obviously stupid.
  4. Re: Bronze Age Champions Maybe it's just because the most recent thing comics I've read was Essential Ghost Rider, but looking back there was a lot more "black magic" in bronze age comics than I recalled living through some of that era. I mean, Johnny Blaze for one resorts to black magic awfully fast in the first issue to solve his problems. There's like, one panel of agonizing over dealing with dark powers and then it's "Let me dust off the Necronomicon and pull the black candles out of the cupboard..." That and most people seem amazingly okay with the whole "black magic" thing.
