  1. Re: This is sort of morbid curiosity but... I play both games. I prefer hero for its flexibility, but I have to give "ease of use" to M&M.
  2. Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! The rat-man Vermin has a secret: he's not really a mutant. He's not even human. Six years ago, N'tgax Lthro and his fellow raiders came to this planet in search of whatever valuables they could find, grab, and get away with. Who knew the planet would be crawling with so many unusual biological specimens? The ship was lucky just to reach orbit after the fight with those so-called "superheroes". Luckily for him, his crew was multi-species, and none of the native defenders noticed when he got separated. It was childsplay to hide in plain sight as a "mutant"... but when those anti-mutant maniacs with their energy weapons and their attack robots came for him, N'tgax figured it was time to find another crew of raiders, just to cover his own cloaca until he could find a way off this mudball. This is why he hooked up with Atomagetion; these dumb primates don't know he's from another world, and as long as he can keep his secret, he's sure that sooner or later he can catch a lift to a civilized world. Next team: The Long Riders out of Texas... a group of four cowboy/western themed villains.
  3. Re: Therietical "Champions of the Rising Son", what would you want to see? A team that, while effective, stroked every single Anime cliche for all its worth. Sparkly catgirl superfighters, moody pretty-boys that highly resemble hot chicks, characters named in really strange ways, power combinations that make no damned sense at all. You know... the classics.
  4. Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Tyrone Power tended to think of himself as an "target of opportunity" when it came to bigots, simply because he was the target of so many of them. As a black man, he comes under fire from anyone with racists. As a dwarf, he's gets it from both the people who see him as a grotesque deformation of the human form, and the condescending people who refuse to see little people as anything but cute little toys to be baby-talked to. As a lawyer, he got flak from those who saw lawyers as either a) evil because they got criminals off on technicalities or evil because they protected the corporations. As a Christian, he caught hell from anyone who disliked religion. And as a gay man, he got it from his fellow Christians and the other conservatives. And lets not even get into what happens when people realize he's named after some old moldy movie star. And as a super-strong, nearly invulnerable mutant... well, he got it from everyone, it sometimes seemed. He couldn't help the fact that he was short. Or black. Or gay. Or looked like he'd swallowed a bottle of steroids. Or named after a movie star. Okay, so the Christian lawyer thing was his choice, but still... a man can only swallow so much abuse before he turns on his abusers. And that is why he follows Holocaust's philosophies as Rhino a member of Atomagetion. And you... call him Pygmy Rhino one more time... I dare you.
  5. I'm going to be running a teen/child superhero campaign for the kids (my sons and my nieces... four boys, two girls), and am handling the math for the two youngest kids, who are both only just now encountering algebra in school. So here's the thing: The 10 year old wants to play a shapeshifter who can turn into dinosaurs... "but little ones, because they'd be my size". So he can turn into miniature T-Rexes and miniature triceratops and so on. Can anyone suggest some dinos that would give him useful abilities? I'm thinking the T. rex is necessary because its the T. rex, and some sort of pterosaur for flying, but after that, I'm skunked, and I want him to be able to take four or five shapes to start. Also, where does one find write-ups for miniature dinosaurs?
  6. Re: Create a Hero Theme Team! Later, she'd look back and wonder how she ended up in this situation in the first place. Moira only came to the stupid convention because her friend Kat was going... and it was Kat who (let's be honest, now) browbeat her into the stupid "Mew Ichigo" costume. Moira didn't even know what a "Mew Ichigo" was supposed to be! Some mutated girl with cat ears and a tail from some stupid Japanese cartoon! Above everything else, Ani-mayhem regrets the ears and the tail, especially now that her appearance has changed. The ability to wield "anime physics" and fight like Bruce Lee is cool... but she's a living Japanese cartoon. Right down to the bright pink hair, the oversized eyes, and a mouth that didn't move in accordance to the words she was saying. If that wasn't bad enough, every piece of clothing she ever put on became this horrid bright pink combo that showed off far too much of her chest, far too much of her butt, and was miles away from anything she normally would have worn.
  7. Re: Common superhero types you've never seen in play Intangible/ghost types, whose powers are based around desolidification and invisibility. Phantom Girl, or Phantom Lady. Now, I've seen these powers combined with the ability to become a cloud of some gas, or in combination with Density Increase and Light Control, but never as the base of their own character.
  8. Re: Create a Villain Theme Team! Doctors who have examined Lydia Steinmetz say she has suffered a "complete psychotic break" with reality. Her mind seems to exist in a world filled with fairies and goblins and all forms of imaginary creatures. Some are friendly, others aren't. She's been like this since she was a girl. It broke her parents hearts to send her away, but they just weren't equipped to deal with it. No one is sure where she got the power to externalize her hallucinations and "share" her fantasy world with those around her. But as Fantasyland, she is an effective... if unique... member of the Condition.
  9. Re: Superheroes Sponsored by Corporations (Such as the NFL) With my homebrew world, most corporate-sponsored hero teams are (at worst) seen as corporate shills or victims of product placement. The most popular, in terms of public acceptance, is Imagination (the official hero team of the Walt Disney Company). Naturally it has East and West Coast teams (and they are thinking of expanding to either Paris or Tokyo).
  10. Re: Character Idea Assistance Those are some very, very cool ideas. Much better than my general "something strange has happened and poof now you're gestalts. I'm going to adapt the Holocaust idea and play with it for a bit. Instead of a Gestalt Winter, I might have them be there at the beginning rather than at the end. As for character concepts, I think I'm going to have a NASCAR Gestalt. And maybe a sunshine Gestalt.
  11. My players and I are starting a new Champions game using Scott Bennie's Gestalt idea as a backdrop. They also want it to be an origins campaign, so we're starting out with them just building some normals with me adding power sets to the characters. After that, the players will trial-and-error the details of their powers through roleplay, figuring out what they can do as the game progresses (not to mention the exact natures of their Gestalts). Problem is, I'm coming up short on ideas. I don't want to use a lot of the more obvious Gestalt ideas (like "fire" or "justice" or "strength" and so on), but at the same time I don't want to go so far onto the fringe that the characters won't be effective superheroes. I know one of the characters is going to be the Gestalt of Raygun Gothic (that is, the "vision of the future" as per the 1920s and 1930s, with jet packs and ray guns and such), and that another is going to be the Gestalt of Beaches. But after that, my ideas are running a bit dry. Anyone have any interesting ideas? I could really use a hand with this.
  12. Re: Master List Of Limitations new home He's still working on putting the old lists on the wiki. One of the reasons I got asked to post here for him was to try and drum up some people to give him a hand with it.
  13. Re: Master List Of Limitations new home From what I understand, part of the reason he moved it to a wiki was so people could add Limitations/Complications that he hadn't thought of himself. So yeah, there could be if its not there already.
  14. Re: Master List Of Limitations new home Of course it is. Haven't you ever heard of The Wiki Rule? "There's a wiki for that."
  15. Re: Master List Of Limitations new home The Master Lists are being moved to a more easily edited and open access wiki format, located here: http://masterlistsofcomplications.wikia.com/wiki/The_Master_List_of_Complications_Wiki Anyone interested in participating, please come on by and say hello.
