When in doubt find a cool sounding, but appropriate, word or phrase in an appropriate foreign language. Swahili came to my mind first.

For Speed Demon don't have a Super Hero ID - have the guy go public for better name recognition. If you have to have a then take a que from your first post and call him the Screamin' Demon and tack a roaring sound as a special effect onto his running (he is a running speedster, yes?) and perhaps a small flame effect as the kinetic field that keeps him from going splat at high speed gives off the heat build up from all of the KE. Doesn't do any damage, just looks and sounds cool and leaves openings for improved presence and sonic attacks later with XP.

As for a startup I'd like to add one note about character creation:

Keeping things simple applies tot he players too.

Try and get them to start off with characters like the original X-Men. Stuff like "I fire energy bolts from my eyes", "I have wings" and I'm really strong, yet agile" are much easier to get a grip on the game with than "I am a polymorphic metal cyber assassin armed with a gun for every occasion" or "I'm an immortal just like in Highlander". With this in mind expect players to want to do a bit of redesign or replace their character and let them as they get a better handle on what works and what doesn't (in terms of personal preference and game mechanics).

Oh. And when someone asks about it, because someone will eventually, "Battle Armour Powers" is not by itself a valid elemental control.

Had a player build a rather effective Dragon on 75 and 75 once. Had to ask the guy to make a different character after a few weeks of play and spent a while tightening up my character creation house rules. Not much fun when scenarios intended to challenge one PC will massacre the rest of the band.
