  1. When I played it was a constant struggle with our GM , because the lure of powers was dramatic. He finally put his foot down and demanded all players have at the very least 25 points of non-CSL skills.

Those bad habits followed me here and it was a struggle to get GMs to say they would approve Black Falcon into their campaigns. Now things are OK, but I never got a comment on the skill set I put together. I'm surprised because I never picked up Criminology or Deduction.

Black Falcon is a historian/archeologist, and her starting skills show that. Her mutant gene is the survivor gene, and it reacted to an ancient curse: allowing for her transformation into Black Falcon. She's a mutant/magic origin.

that said, here are her starting skills:

--She did pick up a few skills since her origin, shadowing and breakfall. Stealth, concealment, and climbing are part of the Indiana Jones style of archeology.

Oratory is a natural speaking skill making her a favorite with classes and History dept fundraisers.

Its a full 50 points all told. Is this too much?

and what's your skill set? I would love to see a simple copy and paste especially for a starting character.

frankly I would wonder if players actually work together with skills, where one guy can defuse bombs, another is an all purpose scientist, etc.

I really wish there was a place where player made heroes could be listed.

  2. Re: Greased Is The Word

    Hmmm

Black Falcon is not the grim crime-fighter type. She doesn't obsess enough over the release of small time hoods to even notice he is out of prison. She would never have tailed him to encounter this situation. Other members of her team are this obsessed, but BF has a life. She wouldn't even remember Gomer's name.

--For the sake of argument, she would let Darwin's law take effect.

Psidestep would likewise laugh it off. Certainly there is no reason this needs to end in death, The patrons of the store have him in a stand off and likely no one will move until the cops arrive. Looks like the situation's well in hand. if Gomer is fool enough to try and fight his way out, then he deserves the consequences.

--legal precedent shows that the store owner and patrons will not be charged.

---While everyone is busy, Psidestep will switch the Jewelry and Gun Store signs back. He's such a funny guy.

  3. According to the CU, there is an (unenforced) law that requires heroes to register with the govt: Secret ID, Powers, weaknesses, etc. Some heroes refuse. But to get any aid or help from Primus, you will need to register.

Psidestep, registered right away. Earning a watched by Primus.

Black Falcon will not do so. Even if it means she cannot get aid from the govt. If she needs aid from the govt and they ask for her Secret ID, she will give them her notes on the case, advise Primus its their problem now, and drop the investigation.

So are you registered? What would your character do?

  4. Re: What comic book villains would make cool heroes, and vice versa?

Green Arrow would make for a great mad killer.

Somewhere there is a comic with Batman as a Vampire. Evil to the core. Kinda fits.

Wonder Woman would make for a great crazed killer, man-hating Amazon. Give her a shield and a bloody axe.

Someone mentioned Spiderman as a villain. Wouldn't be interesting if he was a psycho type with frail Aunt May saying, "It's time to kill again, Peter."

  5. Re: Can you summon a vehicle?

Well I'm going simple with Flight bought with a physical manifestation. I'll call it "Summon Flying Car" and it can be shot down.

It will simulate close enough a vehicle summoned and sent back (possibly wreck and damaged) to its home dimension.

I'm spending 45 points, and buying 30 movement with 5 points for 2 X mass (two passenger model) and 8X NCM.

  6. Re: What comic book villains would make cool heroes, and vice versa?

    An Alternate Fantastic Four:

I agree with several posters, Doc Ock would make for a great Reed Richards type hero.

Black Cat would replace Sue Storm as a hero...Hmmm and end up Married to Doc? OK. In a weird twisted way I could see that.

I'm open to other suggestions for Sue Storms replacement,

The Abomination would take the Thing's place.

Now I need an energy projector for Johny Storm. Pyro is too low a level for the job...no a natural projector, not necessarily fire based. any ideas?

  7. Re: You ARE Dr.Destroyer

All characters: March to Stronghold, divest myself of all weapons. give Primus and Until locations and access codes of all Destroyer's bases and names and locations of all agents. After all of that, the mentalist can put me back in my body.

Black Falcon will likely have nightmares about Destroyer's lack of personal hygiene.

  8. I reading the rules still, and haven't built a vehicle yet.

I have a summoner with a 60 point multipower, Psidestep (see link in sig). with a single slot can I summon a vehicle and dismiss it after I'm done? Psidestep summons guns missiles, even a few dog soldiers all from a alternate dimensions. I don't want a jet pack, I want a hover car like this:

  9. Re: The Crimson Claw and The Great Supervillain Contest

If the robe was satin or silk...the crimson claw could have been...nekid!

Maybe he's actually a hero...and only the hooded robe of the Crimson Claw kept the PCs from finding that out.

Maybe the Claw is...a girl! with brilliant voice manipulator. Or 15 years later, his daughter avenging his death.

  10. Re: A complete character: discussion and stats from scratch for Champions

    First Impressions...

I think of a man sized T-Rex In a suit, tie and a hat (obviously his arms are human normal length as well.)...and a pair of shades.

This villain is a shape shifter, he can be a normal human anytime. But he lives to go on the hunt. with the change he doesn't need to worry about finger prints or the like.

Like the REX, his main weapon is his bite. He speaks eloquently. And can be hired for lone assassin type jobs. The bodies are never found, Rex ate them.

He's pretty tough. But when supers show up, REX can change yet again, into a full sized T-Rex! With Souped-up Stats enough to fight off a team of supers.

So REX is a villain with three forms, human, Reptilian, and Dino-Industrial size.

I would like to say more, but that would involve a back story and stuff you don't want just yet.

    Dog Soldiers

Somewhere in another universe (one of the 100 million ruled by Empress Istvatha V’han) there are a people who breed soldiers for their queen, what was needed was loyal, unquestioning and disposable soldiers for the vast armies she fielded.

The result was: The Dog Soldiers. Bred in vast numbers they can be found nearly everywhere in the V’han empire. Identical in shape and size to humans, Dog Soldiers differ in their fur coats and dog like heads. Some look like hyenas, others look like wolves, collies, terriers…indeed any known and many unknown breeds of dog is likely to have a head represented.

In the queen’s previous attempts to conquer the earth, the dog soldiers haven’t been used, but it’s only a matter of time.

Psidestep summons these minions because they’re bred to obey without question and their loyalty to the Empress means they aren’t watched all that closely. A few who go missing aren’t likely to be noticed or even traced to him. Another important factor is this is a dimension that speaks English as a native language, no translation is needed.

  12. Re: Black Falcon 3.5

You're still paying too much for your skill levels:

15 +3 CSL with Dark Prowess Multi Power (10 OCV)

That should cost you 9 points not 15.

I would still add Unified Power to your Multipower and add 1/2 END to all of them, not sure why you're avoiding that so much.

Where does your armor come from? Is it a costume that you wouldn't wear in civilian ID (i.e. OIF) or is it your skin? Can people tell you have Armor on (i.e. Perceivable)?

    1) My read of CSLs was 3 points were for a few powers, 5 were for a bunch. 7 slots in my multipower is a bunch to me.

    2) I'm hesitant to add limitations cause I was accused of being cheesy. and now I'm afraid to use unified because I have a 10 Power defense. The first thing I'm buying is Power defense back up. (Ya live by the Drain, you die by the Drain...)

    3) I don't need to watch my END, I've got 60 and a 24 REC. Falcon is built to be knocked down and to get right back up again. I want a 30 REC but that would freak most GM's out.

    4) Armor. Its now natural armor. Since I was paying full cost, I thought even if she is down, I want the 20 PD/ED going, so its straight armor. No shadow effect at all.

So bottom line I wanted a Black Falcon where I could be scary, and not have much for a GM to say anything negative about it. I really want to hear a GM say, "OK, I would accept that in my game." If I can get some of these hard line guys to say that, then I have a character that can work anywhere.

BUT. Now I want to buy Hero Designer.

  13. Re: Black Falcon 3.5
