  1. Re: Roman Martial Art, comments please Another thing to consider for a roman solder in FH would be the Teamwork skill as they were usually trained to fight in formations and assist each other out in fights. If I mind right for the Gladiators they were usually trained in one style and if they managed to stay alive and as they because more skills they gradually aquired more of the styles to give a better show to the spectators, although I might be wrong about that.
  2. Re: Romantic Fantasy I would say that not all gaming is action based, it depends on the group. As I've had sessions where it was pure RP with no "action" at all, which were a lot of fun to do, as a campaign where it's pure action all the way can get stale. Ok that was perhaps a little off topic, back to that, I would say that both Tolkien etc, & the more heavily romance based novels can fall under that catagory, it's just that the grittier fantasy if it has any romance can be in a more subtle form than the overly overt romance based novels. My tuppence worth.
  3. Re: Limitation for Spell Casting with Armor and Helms One thing that might be worth considering with regards to helmets, is that some of them especially the likes of great helms have a very limited field of vision, which could with spells requiring a line of sight mean that the caster would have to make a perception test in order to see their target if they're moving around and possibly also in combat. Just a thought to bear in mind.
  4. Also another thing to consider regarding Full plate mail is that it had to be made to measure and thus took a long time to make, months to a year usually. So generally you can`t get "off the peg" plate mail but with the likes of chain mail which is flexible you can usually get it off the peg so to speak. The time scale involved in creating the plate mail is what usually limited it`s availability plus it was usually only made by very skilled armourers which was a factor in increasing it`s price. While it`s being made the recepient has to be on hand to allow the armourer to size it to him.
  5. I just picked it up well yesterday now here in soggy Scotland and wanted to say thank you for a great book, keep up the great work.
  6. With regards to the BBC adaptation of Gormenghast, yes they did do a mini series of it. Also another film to throw into the melting pot so to speak are Prince Valiant There`s also the aninated films of a couple of Terry Pratchett books to consider, Soul Music Wyrd Sisters.
