  1. Re: Healing Vs Undead

Just build undead with a susceptibility to Healing/Holy magics. As a campaign rule' date=' all undead should have this susceptibility. Thus, instead of healing magics healing the undead, the amount rolled becomes damage to the undead[/quote']This...
  2. Re: You Don't Have to be Crazy to be a Superhero, but it Helps!

Here is an excerpt from the Wardens campaign where the resident Winslow Institute fellow, Dr. Saveda, gives the Wardens an assessment of a potential new member, Dawn... a young woman whose parents died in a plane crash just prior to her starting college.

From the Files of Dr. Miranda Saveda

What was I going to tell them, "Oh sure, she is a great candidate for membership in the Wardens. She is just as screwed up in the head as the rest of you."

No, I told them what they wanted to hear. She has a sense of purpose like most advocate paranormals, she believes... no, knows... that she has her abilities for a reason and that they are not just a random happening. She also has a driving desire to make a difference in the world and help others.

Hearing my analysis, they readily accepted her into the group.

What is it about the "orphan warrior" type, whether they are upholding the law or branded as "terrorists," they always desire to take up the mantle of champion of the people.

  3. Re: Alternate Sexualities in Champions and Supers settings

Um' date=' what do you call someone who is like a raceist, but with gender instead? A genderist?[/quote']

    chau·vin·ist [shoh-vuh-nist]

    1. a person who is aggressively and blindly patriotic, especially one devoted to military glory.

    2. a person who believes one gender is superior to the other, as a male chauvinist or a female chauvinist .

  4. Re: Mobile Bug/Tracking Device

In ref to Armitage and Christopher's comments... in a heroic setting, I agree with Christopher, no megascale... but since the original poster said this is for Champions, then megascale would be okay as a super-tech bug could produce a signal that could be tracked over a great distance...

  5. Re: Create a Hero Theme Team!

Talina - Note: Thought about naming her Oracle' date=' but felt it was a bit too much. Couldn't think of a appropriate codename, but given her background she might not need one. (though I am still thinking)[/quote'] Seer, maybe?
  6. Re: Flares from Iron Man

This is what a real flare is made with... reading its description, I would say both normal sight and infra-red are covered by magnesium flares...

Magnesium is flammable, burning at a temperature of approximately 3,100 °C (3,370 K; 5,610 °F), and the autoignition temperature of magnesium ribbon is approximately 473 °C (746 K; 883 °F). It produces intense, bright, white light when it burns. Magnesium's high burning temperature makes it a useful tool for starting emergency fires during outdoor recreation. Other uses include flash photography, flares, pyrotechnics and fireworks sparklers.

  7. Re: What is the strangest super power you have allowed from a SFX?

    Special Effect: PRE

I never built him but I debated with Sean Patrick Fannon the merits of a wizard whose magic skill and effects were based on PRE. The wizard was so awe inspiring and/or fear inducing that his opponents suffered for and his allies benefited from it.

The strangest power I suggested from the effect was a force field against living opponents because they were either too fearful or awed to hit him with all their might...

  8. Re: What is the strangest super power you have allowed from a SFX?

Back in the 80's my group all put together comedy Champions characters for a tongue in cheek Con game by buddy was running.

Turns out the villain of the piece was Doctor Nasty, a power armor mastermind parody, who was ralling the cavity creeps to do... something... I honestly can't remember.

What I do recall was the villainous Doctor's chief henchman, Zodo the frog. Zodo was a small-dog-sized frog with Cartman's personality and a nasty acid vomit attack. Zodo had a... unique physical disad. He was so bouncy that he took knockback from knockback damage, and a Vunerability that he took double knockback from physical attacks. Combine this with moderate defenses, 3/4 damage reduction, massive body, and regeneration.

So this foul mouthed frog would heap abuse on players and heave on them until someone finally creams him, whereupon he would fly like a rag doll at increasing velocity around the battlefield wiping things out until something arrested him or he went soaring off to the horizon, almost inevitably well into massive negative Stun.

    Pinball, anyone???
  9. Re: GAC/Pulp Hero/Villain names and a team name

    Phantom

the dinosaur of words suggests the following of as synonyms for phantom - apparition, chimera, daydream, delusion, dream, eidolon, figment, ghost, hallucination, haunt, ignis fatuus, illusion, mirage, nightmare, phantasm, revenant, shade, shadow, specter, spirit, spook, vision, wraith

I am partial to Revenant... with Specter a close second... go with Blue and Gray with the respective name for the Civil War brothers...

  11. Re: Agents

    My guidelines for Elite agents:

    - DEX low enough that they tend to go last or next to last if a Hero has a really low DEX

    - OCV high enough to hit the Heroes about 50% of the time

    - DCV low enough that they are hit about 75% of the time

    - Attacks on scale with the median for the Heroes

    - Defenses about half of that of the Heroes, so that they are breakable

    - Three elite agents for every Hero in the encounter should be a challenging for the Heroes

Don't really worry about points... Complications tend to be Psychs to define the agents actions...
