Kinda like buying +50 stun (or whatever amount) 4 charges (or whatever amount) set on a trigger *only when down to 1 stun or less*.

I would find it an abuse of the rules.

Strangly enough that power construt could have uses with a few mods. Each charge would last only 1 phase and after that you would lose the +50 stun. For that one phase you would be up, but after that you would likely go back down below 1 stun, until 3 more phases past, since you would be out of charges. Likely you would try to recovery during the first use of the charge, so you wouldn't have to use the other charges or you just leave it as a "last great stand before your knocked out" kind of thing. Of course it can be an abuse, so I'd likely not allow a PC to have it, but something like it with a single charge could be interesting for a villian to have.

As to End Reserves on Charges, I'd likely have to see the actual construct.. I'm think it would be unlikely that I'd find one I'd allow. Still I think Steve's comment was more along the lines of "I'm not forbiding since there might be a cool effect only possible by allowing it".

That's an interesting question. The point about CSL I was thinking about was HTH only or Ranged only Skill Levels. In the HTH example you could use them for DCV but only against other HTH attacks. At least that is my understand, so you question about Martial is an intersting question. As a general ruling for my game, I'd have to ask was the attack you were dodging HTH or ranged? Which every one it was would get the FULL DCV of 18, and the other 13. Example, say you dodged a fist, you would be DCV 18 vs all HTH, and DCV 13 for all ranged attacks. Unless of course the skill levels where 5pts levels, then it would always be 18 in those cases.

    Just to be sure...

Like any combat maneuver, it valid against all attacks until next phase. The only things that may or may not be applied is CSL, depending on their type and how they are used.

Why Hardened then? Why does Leia's toughness mean she can avoid AP or Penetrating effects? I think that is my problem with it...

Well if that's your only issue with, then I think you should just rebuild it without the Hardened. It would be a pt or two cheaper I'm sure.

Of course with AP attacks only the CL Def is not halved, regular defenese are still halved unless they also are hardened. As for Penatrating, I'd follow the Rules FAQ idea of if the pentrating attack does more body then the defenses that are hardened, then those defenses are ignored. At least I think that's a sugguestion.

To be honest, I really don't know. I'm going to guess and say that it is likely still the same.

4th, however, had better layout. I have the damnedest time finding things in the 5th ed book, not because it's disorganized, but because not much effort went into setting sections apart from each other. Maybe my eyesight is just getting worse, but I never had any trouble instantly finding the paragraph I wanted in the BBB; in Fred, I've had trouble even picking out the cost breakdown that's supposed to be at the end of each power description. 4th also had much better artwork--none of this computer-rendered mannequin crap that seems to be all the rage in gaming circles today. This last, of course, is a matter of opinion.

I have to agree. Sometime I'm looking for a limiation or advantage and I'll be darned its not in the limiations nor advantage section, but in the Attack power or other section. Sometimes drives me made. But like all things I cope.

As far as heroes go, Crusader and Starburst were mentioned, but I do not think they got "statted" until 3rd edition (there is a small character sheet with Crusader's stats on it).

Actually I think both of them were used in a previous edition as partial character creation examples.

I like Chart 1 myself; while I think that increasing immunity to damage should cost, I think Chart 2 is too pricy for the value. Though I would add that 100% Reduction should have at least three Stop Signs (like anyone needed to be reminded of that).

You would be surprised what people need to be reminded of. Neither chart actually excites me nor does neither chart upset me. Guess for me it really doesn't matter.

    Mike

Not to mention the fact that every (and I do mean EVERY) game system has so called "Rabid" Fans. Hell everything has "Rabid" fans, it just a simple fact of human nature. (as much as I wish this was not the case)

Starblaze says it best, if you don't like a game don't play it. (which is THE REASON I don't reallly do D20) After all we are not espousing some theology here. (no matter what people think, RPG are not a religion). We can simply choose what games we prefer to play and find like minded people. That is not to say that discussion is bad, it is good. The sad truth is games system can not usually be compared without someone trying to start a Holy (or is that Unholy) War.

Other that the main book, which supplements would be consided a must have for a GM? In time all would be the goal, but the must haves for really getting things rolling.

For me the following seems to be my top 3 picks and in no real order. they all have what I would call Generic Genre value.

    1) Beastiary - Usuable for any genre I can think of. As people have pointed out much better than the 4ed version.

    2) UMA - The expanded Martial Arts is very useful. You could if you have the 4th ed version of the UMA hold off on this one for a while. (or the Old Ninja Hero for that matter)

    3) TUV - Has a great select of vehicles. Although some of the stats I would disagree on, but over all well done.

Others that I find useful and interesting, Star Hero and the CKC, although only if you are running a Sci-Fi and Superhero games respectfully.

  12. While the 355 pts is a bit high, I'm not sure if I like the EDM approach any better. I'm not really sure how I would attempt to approach this item myself.

Of course if this is a Non-supers games, where the vechicle is brought with money, then I would just hand wave this items pts cost and just worry about how much it costs in monetary terms.

The character is pictured as behaving like this, at random times (GM Discresion) he will experience flashes of someone elses life. The whole story, is that he is a robot and that the reason for the AI is that the spirit of a real person has bounded to him, sometimes it creates glitches...

I would still have to list this as a psych lim, thought some could make an argument for a phy lim. I guess my question is, what makes you think it wasn't a Psych lim? Maybe then I could see what other answer I could come up with or at the very least give a better position for mine.
