  1. Re: Online Spacer's Toolkit

Me, too. Was that not an honest question? I was treating it as such. I don't make assumptions about what anyone happens to know about how their OS functions. Lord knows I have plenty of gaps in my knowledge.

If I gave anyone the impression that I was being sarcastic or talking down to them, that wasn't my intention, and I apologise.

Fortunately I don't think anyone (or at least, I didn't) took the misunderstood sarcasm as something meant in spite, rather I took it as a well-intentioned joke.

I certainly hope nobody took my sarcasm as spiteful also, I was just going along with the joke.

Wait, maybe that was sarcastic. Foiled again!

  2. Re: Online Spacer's Toolkit

Well' date=' I'm not certain how all other web-browsers work, but my Internet Explorer window toolbar has a clipboard icon, as well as an "Edit" command which drops down a menu including "Copy". When I click on either the icon or the command, any text that I've highlighted will be temporarily stored in RAM and can be Pasted (another icon or Edit command) into any compatible word-processing program, like Windows Wordpad.[/quote']

Oh, I thought we were being sarcastic.

...are we still? I'm confused.

  3. Re: Online Spacer's Toolkit

If you get permission from Hero Games to post these game stats somewhere' date=' turning the web page entries into text is pretty easy IME. Just drag your cursor across the field containing the printing to highlight it, Copy, then Paste into whatever text program you prefer. I've done this lots of times, often preserving the original format.[/quote']

Wait wait wait, what?? I'm not following. You just highlight the text, then say "Copy!"? Or does it just know? I've never heard of this, but certainly is appropriate for the Star Hero forums!

  4. Re: Online Spacer's Toolkit

Hmm... my concern would be confusion over how to use it. People unfamiliar with the Internet Archive might not understand getting a page with multiple links that doesn't look anything like the STOL. And since no one link has all the entries' date=' linking to just one of those pages won't net you everything.[/quote']

Is there any way everything could just be copied over to the Wiki (with author's permission, of course) so a new OST could be started? In my view, even if nobody really contributes, it's a valuable resource. Especially considering how little actual equipment the actual printed ST has. Just a thought.

  5. Re: Online Spacer's Toolkit

Sorry. I should have said' date=' any significant [i']amount[/i] of contribution. All individual contributions, even if only one item, should be counted as significant in their own right.

    That's sweet.

But anyways, thanks a great deal Liaden, this helps a lot. Rep!

Scratch that, gotta spread some around first. IOU Rep.

  6. Re: Online Spacer's Toolkit

Both the online toolkits were eliminated in the recent site update. The Online USPD isn't such a big deal since it's been published as USPD2' date=' and the only person making any significant contributions to the STKO was myself so it was apparently not bringing in that much interest.[/quote']

I was afraid of that. I completely understand the elimination of the USPD, but STKO had some useful stuff in it that I haven't seen posted elsewhere. Ah well, thanks for the answers everyone, glad to know that I'm not just crazy.

  7. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

Watched the first episode of EXO Squad last night on Hulu. Damn I miss shows like that, I'd forgotten how great and, well, suprisingly adult that cartoon was. Just a 90s version of Robotech, which is a high compliment in my eyes.

Though the animation could have been handled a bit better.

  8. Whatever happened to the "Spacer's Toolkit" (or whatever it was called, I forget) that was in the free section that had an assortment of technology/ships for Star Hero? Or am I dreaming things up? Sorry to make a thread on something so minor, but can't think of what it was called, so searches are coming up fruitless.

And many apologies if I'm just being an idiot and missing the link.

  9. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

OK. I love that movie too' date=' but what's up with the ending. Did they just get tired of making the movie and quit? Did they run out of film? Great movie. Weird ending.[/quote']

From what I understand (and remember), it was originally supposed to be the first part of a series that was going to be at least two movies, hence starting story lines involving lesser characters that seemed kind of random, and never resolving them. Unfortunately I can't remember why it wasn't continued, may have been budget or something, it's been a few years since I did a research paper on that movie.

But I completely agree, one of my favorite samurai movies, but the ending comes very close to ruining it for me. I need more resolution!

  10. Re: Idea/Suggestion: Offline Character Generator

I think that is certainly a fantastic idea, and I really hope they do use it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they did try something similar, especially since they're working in conjunction with the PnP set, I'd be somewhat mystified if they didn't make it in such a way that one could use it to design an RPG character and then print it out.

    One can only hope.

  11. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

Just watched Justice League: New Frontier yesterday. Hot damn that was fantastic, easily one of (if not the) best super hero movies ever. While I wish it could have been longer (and thus kept more from the trade in), for being only 70ish minutes, they did a phenomenal job.

I am in the process of watching Eureka Season 1. I was always interested in it but found it very hard to jump into mid season. I'm enjoying the heck out of it now :D

Huge fan of Eureka, extremely well done. Glad you're enjoying it.

  12. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

In the middle of watching the first season of Boston Legal with the girlfriend, finally. We've watched the show off and on for the past two seasons, but we never DVR'd it because we kept vowing to just get the dvd's and watch them in order, but that never happened.

Man, I do love this show though. Denny Krane is my hero.

  13. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

Finished watching Season 3 of Veronica Mars a few days ago.

Sigh... why'd they have to cancel it? And fast-forwarding it to her in the FBI would've been awesome, the mini-pilot was pretty well done.

Been watching Lost Season 3 on Blu-Ray, which is simply amazing. I mean... wow. And I was surprised by how much I'm enjoying the story now, I had tried watching S3 on tv but got bored immediately. Can't wait to finish the last two eps.

  14. Re: 3D Star mapping software

Just out of curiosity, and I'm sure the answer is no, but I'll ask anyways.

Any chance that you'll actually input all the planets that are listed in the TE galaxy map, or are you just going for a program to be used for generic Star Hero games? I only ask cause I've been working on creating the entire TE galaxy in a similar program, and recently lost a lot of work I had put into it, and as such have become incredibly lazy.

    Either way, awesome stuff. Rep!

  15. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

The King Of Kong. I recommend it without reservation. It is one of the best movies I've seen recently. Get this, it's a documentary about some guy who is pursuing the world record on Donkey Kong. No, I'm not kidding you. It is also one of the best feel good underdog movies I've ever seen. It's like Rocky or Karate Kid, but with real people.

You really couldn't write script that nailed the genre better. The protagonist is likeable. The villain is despicable, and the ending is just note perfect.

Awesome, I can't wait to see it. As a huge fan of underdog videogame themed movies of the 80s like the Last Starfighter and the Wizard, I'm sure this is right up my alley.

  16. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

3:10 to Yuma I was hoping for something different. Maybe I wanted to see the 'one-legged rancher" turn out to be some ex-gunslinger or something. I was almost disappointed in the movie. Almost. And then I got to see a great character drama that could have been used in almost any genre to the same great effect. I think that is the hallmark of an outstanding movie. If you can change all the trappings and still have a good story, you've got a keeper. That is what happened here. See above, however, regarding unpleasant fate's of good guys.

My favorite movie of the year, I think, or maybe tied with No Country for Old Men. Damn good stuff.

It really was something I didn't expect, but that turned out to be a very good thing for me. I loved the fact that the rancher was nothing more than that, a rancher that got his leg blown off while on guard duty in the Civil War. Nothing heroic, just some guy that's a pretty good shot. What I was most pleasantly surprised by was the fact that the kid, which I groaned every time he would whine about being old enough to go shoot the bad guys, actually became a likeable character. For one of the first time's I can remember in a movie, the annoying brat that sneaks out in the night to take on more than he can chew doesn't just end up getting kidnapped and being more trouble than he's worth.

Fantastic movie, bought it on Blu-Ray, can't wait to watch it once more.

Not to mention Wash was pretty great in it.

  17. Re: What Have You Watched Recently?

Josh and I watched Ratatouille last night (and the short animation that came with it, about the alien abduction). Really cute. Liked it more than I thought I would, which is about par for Pixar films, for me. I'll wonder about the concept, then settle down to watch the execution, and get sucked in at some point. Then I wind up either choked up, cheering or laughing (or some combination) by the end of the movie.

It's kinda weird. But not a criticism.

I'm the same exact way, didn't really want to see it in theaters, but then started cracking up bout 30 minutes in and loving it. Brad Bird knows his stuff though.

Just finished watching the... 17th episode of Twin Peaks, just started the episode that is apparently guest starring David Duchovny. Should be good.

  18. Re: ST: How Not To Do Homages (Trivia)

I don't think it is anything but a coincidence - or possibly a subconscious decision. "Night Owl" is fairly appropriate for a shop selling stimulants.

This doesn't make Voyager any more likeable, or easier to watch, however - but I don't think anything will.

Except possibly being forced to watch Enterprise :)

    Hey, I liked Enterprise!

Or rather, that episode that started out with the guy from First Contact who invented the hyperdrive pulling a shotgun on the first Vulcans to make contact with Earth. Awesome.

  19. Re: Star System Generation (Now at the RIGHT place :/)

Unfortunately, I completely lack any skill as to deciphering the scripts you've posted, but, from reading your description, this sounds like it'd be extremely useful. Bravo, I'll continue checking back to see how this turns out.

And while I'm sure I'm not the first to welcome you to the boards (people 'round here tend to be rather on the ball with the friend-making), I'll go ahead and extend a big welcome anyways.

    So yeah, welcome!
