Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

Re: "The orcs stole your underwear again..."
I've played it once or twice. I found the system a little bit complex for what it was trying to do. I actually like Teenagers From Outer Space better for that sort of play -- simpler stats' date=' simpler dice mechanics.[/quote']My college gaming club played Toon particularly at Cons. But we eventually came to the realization that we didn't need the rules just people who understood the idea was to be funny to have fun. Some of the worst puns ever came in these but everyone was having a good time.

Re: Space fightercraft in RPGs.
In my campaign setting, there aren't any single- or two-man fighters, but there are small vessels which fill the same role as PT boats, with similar crew and armaments. (About 16 crew, and a rack of AWESOMEs.*)*Atomic Warhead-Equipped Spacecraft Ordinance MissilE
These sound like the LAC's (Light Attack Craft) from David Weber's Honor Harrington novels. Small craft that pack a punch that you can't ignore.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good tool for gouging out one's own eyes?IIRC the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves recommended a spoon since it hurt more.

Sadly although my wife showed this to me separately, I found that it has it's own thread already. So you'll have to follow the link to see.

Re: STAR HERO Reading List
I'd add on Niven's The Integral Trees and The Smoke Ring. The setting alone has been percolating on the back burner of my mind for some time.
In addition to Cherryh's Downbelow Station some of the other novels in that same universe particularly Merchanter's Luck, Tripoint, and Finity's End. All three are set in the same period as Downbelow.
Someone not on the original list that I would add is
Allen Steele - Coyote, Coyote Rising, Coyote Frontier to start. There are at least four more novels after those but don't want to over load the list after all the summer is alway shorter than we want.
