  1. Re: What comic book villains would make cool heroes, and vice versa?

I've always liked the idea of say "The Joker" as a hero. Of course he would have to be a bit more sane than he is in the comics these days' date=' but the idea of perhaps a "Gadgeteer' hero who enjoys humiliating super villains could be a lot of fun. Then there are characters like say "Dr Alchemy who might make a very powerful hero with his "philosopher's stone" giving him the ability to transform anything ! Of course there are also the members of "The Frightful Four"; any of the original three male members "The Wingless Wizard". "The Trapster" or "Sandman" would make cool heros (not to mention powerful heros !), although i'm not sure which of the several "fourth" members that the group has had over the years would fit best.[/quote']

I did this! I called him the Jack. He had a palm buzzer, Acid Squirting fLower and NND gas that left you unconscious with a smile on your face. This was predark Champions though. I still had way to much fun making fun and acting a little crazy. Personality wise he was a cross between john Crichton and the Creeper with a mad cackle from the Joker thrown in.

  2. Re: Multiple Secret IDs

As far as I can remember, the fusion of Ronnie and the good professor could happen at any distance. Did they have a mind-link while not in Firestorm Mode?

It is interesting that you are speaking of Firestorm with his new look and comic book coming out in the next month or so. As I understand it, the character is neither Ronnie nor the professor. In fact, the new character needs another person to fuse with and it doesn't have to be the same character each time. This leads to Firestorm having different skills and personality traits each time he is formed. This is supposed to lead to problems and run ins with other superheroes and the law.

That last option is interesting. I guess a Skill/talent/perk only VPP would be the way to go on that.

For everyone else thanks for the input. I will put those design ideas through Hero Designer.

  3. Re: Multiple Secret IDs

    Thanks Osprey.

Now would the two PC-Norms be legal characters?

Would you build them on say 100+50?

Plus where do the 5/1 and 1/1 cost points for Multiform fall in? The Hero form is to be at the Point Cap and AP cap set by the GM, but the PC-Norm forms are going to have expensive powers if they are too buy a say 350 point Hero form. And it would be nice to have skills too.

Could OIHID ever apply to a Multiform built like this since his Super Mode is a Multiform?

I'll plug it through Hero Designer tommorrow and see what it does.

    Again thanks.

  4. Re: Devlin1 KA Question

I think a better build is:

1d6 RKA Range limited by STR, since you are not able to maintain that full power (your STR) over distance.

Although lots of other people disagree. Which is fine. HERO is good at such differences as long as the core assumptions remain the same. I don't recall where I heard first heard the No STR at Range NO NO but it was in response to a number of concerns about Champs 1 and 2 characters. There is even a build like this in STRIKE FORCE.

  5. I have decided to tackle that most thorny of my nemesisi; the two or more normal bodies combine to one Superhero.

At first I thought the following:

Get slightly more points as a disad since both of the norms had to be present to form Hero guy

Build them differently. Like Ronnie Raymond and Prof Stein in Firestorm. One had different stats than the other. The Hero has access to the brainy one with all the skills as a Desolid always on computer or the like (effectively in his head)

Ran into problems with the OIHID limitation, and the fact that the GM was thrown by my concept. (Hiya Chris)

Next I tried Multiform. One Hero and two lower powered duplicates. Very expensive for the effect. But comboing these two powers seems the most likely fit. Just do I want to pay 20-30 points for something that is a liability and not an advantage since the Hero already has access to the skills, perks, and talents of his components.

I am looking for ideas on how you would do this.

  6. Re: Need Help With Teleport Power

    >>Hawksmoor: Not sure why you continued to keep posting here? You seem intent on telling me and my GM how they should run thier games.<<

No, I am intent on telling you that the assumptions you make have no relevance on core FRed. By the post you have a Superheroic game and want to use Heroic rules to play the game. Fine but you need to state that you are not playing by established rules. Second do not be smarmy when you dislike a posters response. If you did not want a variety of ideas you shouldn't have posted in the first place.

  7. Re: [HELP] Need various things for a scenario

Actually on the reread I was not being clear. Ask Geeves explains the Pentagon's mapping schema even if it does not provide a map. Using this you can give Offical sounding coordinates to offices and have pentagonophiles never know the difference.

  8. Re: Need Help With Teleport Power

There is a BIG difference between not wanting help and not finding it' date=' Hawksmoor. :tsk: Although it stands to reason it is not [i']your[/i] help that is wanted.

You are right, and Hugh's and Foxiekins, and a couple of others that escape me since I only want one window up. All of our help is unwanted.

  9. Re: Is It Worth The Points?

In general I place a bit more emphasis on making the player *work* to use all his little abilities. I am not going to point out every time I do something that X and Z KS: on his sheet could help him with this. That is the Player's job to know his PC inside and out and come up with novel ways to exploit his abilities.

That said untested abilities are like insurance. 20 points spent on Regeneration (Ressurection) is going to make certian that *if* I kill you PC (or you do by pulling an Audie) then you are not going to be harmed by it. You still keep your favorite PC. Just because it has not been used does not mean that it will never be used.

For instance I do not think that in a Game the Gm has to ensure Aquaman can breathe water. It is the player who needs to suggest water pipes and aquatic fauna in the area to exploit. It is my job to respond with a yes or no but mostly unless we are talking Death Valley we have water somewhere.

  10. Re: [HELP] Need various things for a scenario

Alright! I seems because of security reasons maps of the Pentagon are hard to come by.

BUT! You can use the directions for how to get around the pentagon to your aid. Just wing it and say that the system is quirky because they are constantly moving offices as a CT measure. :snicker: You can get this most easly on ASK JEEVES.

  11. Re: OK, Math And Science Experts: Cubic Hexes

Hexes because all movement is based upon them. 2m Hexes because existing Champions mechanics are based on it. Ignore the incomplete filling of a Hex by "awkward" real world shapes. Motorcycles do not fill *all* of two hexes with their width and length and girth do they? No. Abstraction is our friend.

Newsflash Joan! I'm Omniscient! You don't have to explain your thought process to me!

Whoah! Are you being snippy? GOD is snippy!

Ok Joan, I am God. I am beyond your experience. I don't look like this. I don't sound like this. I look like this so you can relate. If I seem snippy it is because you understand snippy.

  12. Re: What comic book villains would make cool heroes, and vice versa?

As for the Batman. Remember he was mistrusted and thought to be a villian or more correctly a vigillante (sic need a spellchecker on the forum!!!!!) To make him a villian all you need to do is take away the 25 point code vs killing.

Other Heros: Any of them. Once they go Proactive they cross the line and it is a slippery slope. Read any comic to see this. Which heroes are "darker"? More iron age? The Proactive ones.

    Cool Villians into heroes.

  13. Re: Name for a "I-hit-all" girl

Hmmm. Can I ask a question? Yes? Thanks? What is the Active Point CAP of Powers in your game?

Why? Because at the 225 point level you have listed, unless it is a typo the 75 STR is way way too powerful. You spent 65 of your points right there unless you are limitationed up.

And Dark Moon with Metzli (whatever) is the best choice so far.
