    Eagle : Batman/Robin-like Gadgeteer

Kall : Energy Projector (Ice & Cold)

  2. Re: Deaf disadvantage

This is in the Rule book under Combat & Adventuring in the Before Combat section, under SENSES IN THE HERO SYSTEM -> Sense Groups -> THE HEARING SENSE GROUP->final paragraph.

This works out to Page 350 in 5ER.

    Its worth 20 points.

Th entire Senses section is very important and should be carefully read and understood. Among other things it explains how Perception works in the HERO System, describes how many points each Sense is worth as a Power, and conversely how much it is worth to lack that Sense (the same amount of points btw).

Hum, it seems I didn't read carefully my Hero System 5th Edition corebook. Sorry for this question I could have answered myself easily by reading the book.

Thanks again to everyone for your answers.

  3. Re: Deaf disadvantage

The interpretation of "Deaf" as a Physical Limitation from The Master List Of Limitations calls it All the Time, Greatly Impairing for 20 points. I would support Greatly over Fully Impairing, since there are practical steps that a character can take to reduce the restrictions of deafness.

The description from the Master List includes some interesting suggestions for how to run it.

Thanks you very much for this link, I didn't know this The Master List Of Limitations. Very useful, thanks again !

  4. Hello,

One of my players would like to create a PC who is deaf (but can lipread).

My first idea is a Deaf disadvantage :

Physical Limitation : Deaf (All the Time, Fully Impairing) for 25 points

My only doubt is about the level of this limitation : is it Fully Impairing (the character can't hear at all) or Greatly Impairing (he can lipread what people say) ?

    What's your opinion ?

  5. Re: Eurostar : where will I find more details ?

Before that' date=' i can eventually lend it to you. I will be back home on friday and i won't come back to Birmingham after.[/quote']

Thank you for your offer, but I think I can wait until it'll be available again for sale in online store. I'm not too impatient, I can wait.

Thank you nevertheless, it's nice to have thought of that. :-)

  6. Re: Eurostar : where will I find more details ?

I think you'll find Eurostar is a trademark for the cross-channel railway. Any super with that name is going to face some serious lawsuits in both UK and France. Plus a weird limitation which means he can only travel at 75% of his top speed when in the UK.

Since we speak about that, do you know if the name Eurostar for this super-vilains team was chosen before or after the creation of the Eurostar (the train) ?

  7. Re: Star Hero Idea: Starship of the week

Hey' date=' thanks Lord Kilsco. Thats an interesting link, even if just for the pictures as I dont read French. I'll probably end up using some of these pictures for ship designs in the SH game I am working on.[/quote']

You're welcome. I like these pictures too and I use them for my own spaceships in Star Hero.

  8. Re: New Perk

I wouldn't have covered the subject in this way. To my mind :

    - If the character is under 18 and not legally independent, he/she has a Disadvantage, like Social Limitation : Under 18 - Minor - Not legally independent (Frequently, Major)

    - If the character is under 18 but legally independent : no Perk nor Disadvantage, it's a nearly "normal" character ; maybe a "Immature" psychological limitation if necessary.

  9. Re: Star Hero Idea: Starship of the week

Hmm, that reminds me a special section in a French Fading Suns forum where a contributor regularly posts the description of spaceships he designed, with very impressive three-dimension pictures.

    You'll find that here.

Obviously, there are no Hero stats for these spaceships.

  10. Re: Ideas for a hero name ?

Thanks for the link, I didn't know this website.

They have also French > _______ dictionaries which will be very useful for me.

I don't doubt that I'll find a perfect for my hero with that.

I already found "Kall", the swedish word for cold, I like it.

    Thanks again.

  11. Hi,

Yet another "Help me for a name" thread, I'm really sorry.

My hero is a Swedish young man who gained his powers during an avalanche. He escaped with death by miracle and developped supernatural powers based on ice, snow and cold.

I imagined and drawn aside traditional names like Ice, Snow, Cold, and their derivatives in -man, -boy, super-, hyper-, etc.

Any ideas for a name, knowing that I have a preference for a Scandinavian or German name (my campaign will take in Berlin) ?

    Thanks.

  12. Re: [Terran Empire] ISP, TSS, TIC ...

The differences between the services are easiest to describe by analogy, I think.

The TSP (Terran Security Police) are an interplanetary police force, sort of like what InterPol would be like if it was in an imperial, rather than multi-national setting. Perhaps the FBI would be a better analogy.

The TSS (Terran Security Service) are more like the Gestapo -- they're less interested in civil crime than in sedition. They're secret police with a visible fist to intimidate the populace, but they don't get really nasty until the last years of the Imperium.

The TIC is the spy service, like the CIA, MI5, GSCB or KGB. That would be the service involved if you were playing "James Bond in Space" adventures.

I read your reply again and my first reaction is : there could be some rivalry between these organizations.

ISP and TSS agents could work on the same cases, for instance if a senator is murdered and a plot is suspected.

That's very interesting, and this vague and complexe organization of imperial forces seems more and more convenient to fascinating adventures for my PCs.
