  1. Re: Ideas for a Solo Adventure

What if she was just going about her daily routine--at the laundromat or something--when she suddenly realised there was a person there she couldn't 'feel' with her mental awareness.

Her powers weren't buggy, she can sense everyone else there... And, it's not that he's repelling her sense with mental defences... It's like he's just not there...

That would creep me out, if I were a mentalist. :)

So, what makes him a blank? Is he a hero or villain in his secret identity? Is he some kind of mindless alien drone, or robot?

Whatever he is, are there more like him? If so, what caused them, and for what purpose?

    How's that? (%)

  2. Re: Adding Damage

That's funny... The way I'd been figuring it, you don't add advantage DCs from strength, unless you bought the advantage for your strength.

Er, like, if you had 20 str, and a 6d6 HA with Penetrating, you'd have a 10 D6 HA, with 6 of the D6 acting as Penetrating...

Okay, I can see that doesn't work as well with AP as it does with Penetrating.

    Hmm... (%)

  3. Re: Power Defence... Ugg

I've always looked at power defence as an inner strength--a resistance to being altered, which is what it is...

It's your strength of self, or so I always concidered it.

I keep trying to say what I mean, but I keep re-writing the same things. I need to stop doing this at 4:30 am. (%)

  4. Re: I'm sure this has been asked before...

Is it? I'd wondered, but I'd figured against it because Silverback didn't have any cybnetic stuff on any of the internal art. I'd wondered if it was supposed to be some creation of Telios (I butchered that spelling, didn't I?), or something. From the angle, I also thought it was supposed to be huge. (%)

  5. Re: Help designing soul-sucking sword

Does the sword eat the soul of the victim, or it's bearer?

I wasn't sure which you meant.

If it's the victim, yeah, and Ego drain would be best--I think I'd have used a Body drain, but you said Ego. Maybe transfer, instead, but something of that sort.

If you're wanting it to affect the wielder... I've no idea in the slightest. I'd suggest some use of 'Side Effect,' but I could never wrap my head around side effects. Sorry. (%)

  6. Re: The fall of the Soviet Union sucked.

Well, aside from using a cold-war setting in your game, or re-writing history so the USSR never fell...

Why not have some Neo-Socialist factions, like the Neo-Nazi wackos we have nowadays? Just because Russia isn't pointing missles at the US doesn't mean some former communist patriot isn't willing to try to force Russia back into the slag it was in--and kick the US in the ribs while doing so.

:sneaky: You just have to think what you can do now, with those same people. How would they react now?

Here's a fun one--a hero who grew up in the cold-war era, having to work side-by-side with former enemies (heros of their own lands) to stop terrorists from shattering the peace.

    Or, something.

Come to think of it, that's kinda cliche, huh?

    Gimme a break, I'm new at this. :) (%)

  7. But I don't know the answer, so I'll ask anyway.

Who's the giant cyborg ape fighting Firewing on the cover of Millenium City? The people on the covers of almost all the other books I recognize (not counting the ones from Champions Universe that didn't have names at first) but that gorilla-guy eludes me. Who is (s)he? (%)

  8. Re: Modern Hero? Cyber/Transhuman Hero? should they publish these?

The upcoming Dark Champions essentially is "Modern Hero." Between that and Star Hero' date='[/i'] you can cobble together a reasonable Cyber Hero game, although I'd expect that Hero Games will eventually do a Cyber Hero book at some point.

That's what Mr. Long said to me a while back. Problem is, I'm not very good at cobbling. :)

I'd really like a CyberHero book--but, not so much that I'd want the company to lose cash on it. Is there really so little a demand for it? (%)

  9. Re: Name by Dream

Well, I've always wanted to call a superhero "Doohickey."

The super agent could be Thingama Bob!

Okay, seriously--'Spring Heeled Jack' IS a cool name, but I think it's better for the bad guy agent. For the hero, what about something like 'Gadget' to represent the equipment.

Hmm... 'Guardian,' 'Protector,' 'Bastion?' Something like that? ::Shrug::

The scientists name should be Fillmore something. :) (%)

  10. Re: Name My Character

Green Gargoyle? I kinda like that one.

Chimera is a very different kind of monster, though... Basilisk might work better...

Earthwyrm is a word I've been trying to find a use for, because I think it's funny.

Bob is good--though, George would bring up images of St. George, who fought a dragon.

Serpent? Reptile? I dunno, I can't think of anything good. Sorry. (%)

  11. Re: Got my 'damaged' books today...

If we had books suffering from these problems (we don't)' date=' we wouldn't sell them. That's not worth even half off. We have to call them "damaged" because the distributors have sent them back to us due to minor dings and scrapes, but they don't have any significant defects. We wouldn't want to fob off truly defective books on our fans.[/quote']

That's the fear that's been staying my hand.

Minor corner damage? A little wear-and-tear from shipping?

Nice. I'm gunno go buy me some books.

    Thanks, Winterhawk!

  12. Re: Please help name this Hero

Huey, Dewey, Louis, and Howard? That's great! :D

What about Captain Commander? Alliterative, but not heroic enough?

Captain Pow--oh, wait, that one's taken.

Captain Wonderful? I don't know where that one came from, sorry.

Captain Union? Like Captain America, but fights Johnie Reb!

    Okay, I need sleep. (%)

  13. Re: Guyver: Bioboosted Armor

Way back in 98 I was trying to get a game going, where the players all played anime characters from shows... (I thought it would attract players.) Sadly, I only had one person interested, and only if he could be Guyver 1, the emporer of the world, and have higher stats and skills than all the other players.

    :stupid:

He has no idea why I said no.

Anyway, I always smile when I see anime characters written up, remembering my futile, cruddy attempts to make a starting-level 250 pt version.

  14. Re: Need Help with Disadvantages

Me, I'd go with a psych lim along the lines of "must prove he's a hero in his own right."

He was a sidekick, right? Maybe now he wants to show the world he's his own hero now, and good enough to play with the big boys without his mentor's protection...

  15. Re: Where do the CU characters come from?

    VIPER/HYDRA

Gotta say nope on this one... At least, as it seems to me.

Reading "Coil of the Serpent" I realized that Viper isn't Hydra--it's COBRA!

(I really should have gotten that sooner then I did...) (%)

Edit: This is about the fourth time I've replied to a page, only to realize that there's a second page I didn't notice before replying.

This time, it caught up with me. :idjit:

I gotta pay more attention. (%)

  16. Re: Goofy hero names that you still love

I made a villain a while back. A gang-member. Tough brick, with the ability to boost his strength, con, PD, ED, etc by focusing on it. (multipower with extra points in those stats)

He wasn't fully evil, he just hung out with creeps who used his bulk to their advantage.

His name was Jason Johanson, but his buddies all called him "Jimmy."

'Cause he was the guy that opened the doors. :D (%)
