  1. Re: Ranged Martial Arts too limited?

Okay, so--do you use charges for the RMA? I'm not sure how to do martial manuevers with a charged weapon...

That's why I didn't use them for the archer I worked up for my cousin (I gave him some Aikido instead).

How do you do the MA, when it's based on charges in a different power?

  2. Re: Yengtao martial moves

    I know what you mean!

    The first time I e-mailed the "info@herogames" E-mail, I expected some minimum-wage cronie to spit back a pre-determined answer...

When I saw it was helpful, I was delighted. When I saw the name it was signed with...

I dug out my copy of FREd, and gawked for several minutes.

    These guys rock. :hex:

  3. Re: Help with team name

What you really need is something that ties them together...

The X-men were named for their "X-tra" abilities (and Xavier's initial). The Justice League was all about, well, justice.

Hey--the Champions genre book has a really great super-team generator in it, if you really can't decide. It's fun to play with. :)

Er... What's the name of the campaign city?

  4. Re: This Issue Only

I've never played in an "official" setting. (GM's tend to like inventing their own...)

I do like to "import" (rip-off) characters from comics, jsut to see if I can do them accurately. Usually, no, I can't. But, it's fun trying.

Hey--incidently, I have no memory of Hero pre-4th ed. What were the "original" champions like?

(I kinda prefer the 4th ed guys to the 5th. Not that I don't like the new guys, I just like Solitaire...)

  5. Re: Campaign Idea

Well, how dark is your campaign?

It's really about how you want to play it--it the government the bad guys? Or, are the heros a form of cops? Or, both?

The big thing is, the people. Do you think that the people would be more afraid of the sudden supers, or would they be more afraid FOR them, about what might be done to them.

If they were rounded up, would the people cheer? "Yaay, we're safe!"

Or, would they hold candle-light vigils? "Let the Mighty People go!"

Or, both? Some on each side?

Probably, as with most things, the truth would lie somewhere in the middle. But, the great thing about being a GM is, YOU decide what the "truth" is. :sneaky:

  6. Re: Another quandry

Ooh--low dice EB? I should ahve thought of that...

    Images... Hmmm...

    Okay, picture this...

A guy climbs a bell tower with a rifle, right? Takes aim at the crowd below...

POW! A splat of sticky red on the shirt; the guy yells, staggers and falls.

People run screaming, except for those that are looking to stop the bleeding... "There's blood EVERYWHERE, but where is he HIT?"

The damage was done by an Egoblast, multi-power atacked with the paintball...

The guys name? Wargame, building chaos and distracting people from whatever the rest of the machine is doing. :D

    Isn't that delightfully malicious?

  7. This place is full of help.

Last one (for now) I promise...

And, this one is really tougher than the last one.

How would you build a paintball gun using champions rules...?

(I have a really fun, really evil idea for a villain character...)

  8. Re: Leagacy of Iron: Power Suit characters...

Seen Megas XLR on Cartoon Network? I think you'd like it...

Yes, yes I have. And yes, yes I do. :D

I saw one episode (S-Force) at a cheap pizza place. They have cable. I don't.

Stupid cable compay, "We're not laying 50 miles of cable just to go to one house." Pffff....

  9. Re: Waldo

I thought stretching didn't work for movement...?

But, I can use it to step over things?

    Cool--didn't realize that!

And, it's easier than the Teke--Str+Str(etching.) Cool!

    Thanks much! :D:D:D (%)

  10. Re: Comeliness?

It could as well be a -4 limitation... The idea was that the advantages and limitations basically balanced.

There would be a social limitation to represent public prejudice, the - to PRE would be the tendency towards rash, crude behavior and ugly appearances.

Well, but then I could see a character buying that off--so, I would need to pay more attention to that limitation. Blast.

I used -1 to simulate the split between social- and fear- based PRE. Er--do you think that only warrants a -1/2?

Does the Fantasy Hero book have any pointers for playing monstrous characters? I don't have that one yet--well, the current incarnation, anyway. This is a headache and a half. :doi:

  11. Re: Waldo

    Here's what I'm picturing:

    The shell is weightless force.

Attacks would pass through the shell--it's not technically there. An attack would have to hit Waldo (and pass through a force field) to do damage.

Yes, if he's knocked out it will go away.

Stunned? Uh... Hadn't thought of that. I'm tempted to say yes, though that means he goes splat if hit hard. Uh... Yeah, I'll still say yes. If stunned, he loses concentration, and the shell goes away.

The shell moves by walking, attacks with it's arms or legs. Yes, the length of the limb determins range limits. It has to have a solid surface to walk on, but it can step over things (roads, small rivers, houses) as long as they aren't too tall/wide/long.

Um... No, I don't see it jumping.

    How's that? (%)

  12. Re: Comeliness?

    Uhhh... Negative skill levels. Coooolll...

Oh, andm house rule? No, not really. I'm trying to build a house rule, so... Yes? But, I've not used it yet... Still trying to work it out.

But, I've used modifiers on disads before--when appropriate. (OIHID for phys lim "big and heavy" because it's only when they're transformed, for instance.)

I figure that's the same thing, kinda. Eh? (%)

  13. Re: Waldo

I'd thought about growth, linked with desolidification, to simulate that it's not a real body, but then I was at a loss to figure out how to simulate that he was still in the middle.

Plus, an "affects desolid" attack would still hit the body--but there's nothing there, it's just a mental picture, you know?

And, freakboy--thanks, I missed what you were saying before. Okay... I'm still kinda lost, as I can't really find anything that simulates what I'm trying to do--or even comes close. If -1/4 seems right I'll go with that, but I've got nothing on paper to base it on, you know? (%)
