Adonis (Gambit Homage) Remy Le Saux was born in the gutters of Marseilles, he soon found he was "different" and grew into a skilled thief, criminal and total rogue. By the time of his late teens Remy knew he was a mutant, he had an almost mystical effect on women and with his looks and rogish personality he knew how to exploit it. He was also as quick as a cat and seemingly very, very lucky. Avoiding the French authorities time and again. Mastermind when putting together his second team of the Scions of Caine came looking for the young French mutant and after resucing him from a mob vendetta after a particuarly dangerous liason with a mob bosses daughter, Remy was only to willing to be rescued. He was then trained in hand to hand combat and given equipment to boost his natural cat like agility in combat. He was codenamed Adonis after Mastermind saw first hand the effect he had on the female members of the team and became a core member of the Scions and a constant thorn in the side of the Protectors. Remy was not truly evil however and after witnessing first hand Masterminds ruthlessness he defected without pause over to his greatest enemies the Protectors! Iniatially mistrusted and under suspicion for being a spy and making relations worse himself after attempting and some times succeeding in seducing every female member, Adonis has slowly become an accepted part of the team although even now some male members of the team will never fully trust him, but his agility, skill in combat and sheer brute luck has saved the team on more than one occasion.

Caliburn (Black Knight homage) Dane Sinclair can trace his lineage back far into English history, what the young scientist did not realise was how far, as he is in fact the direct desendant of King Arthur! A revelation made clear to him when the legendary magician Merlin managed to escape from the time stream prison that had been amde for him by his foes Morgan Le Fey and the Black Paladin. Once again giving Arthur's desendent the magical sword Excalibur, Sincalir was transformed into a hero of Britain for the modern age. Taking the name Caliburn he at first attempted to deny his responsibility to Britian as it's mystic guardian and instead travelled to the US to join the Sentinels and learn how to be a hero. After serving faithfully with the American super team however, he was kidnapped by The Black Paladin and had a series of adventures through British history before being rescued by a team of British superheroes called the New Knights. Realising at last his destiny Caliburn has emerged as the leader of the group and now bravely defends the British Isles from all threats both mystical and mundane. Armed with his mystical sword Excalibur and aided by his winged horse companion Pegasus, Sincalir is a formidable foe.

ALEXANDER STONE (Lex Luthor homage) Alexander Stone, is without doubt the richest man in the world. He is also one of the most influential, with a long reach into many strands of society, economic, political and social. Stone is one of the msot successful buissnessmen on the planet with his flagship company Panstar being at the cutting edge of the science/military/computer industries. Owning many other companies through a web of buissness organisations Stone has come to think of himself at the CEO of the United States and will stop at nothing to get whatever he desires. Stone has become more and more involved with the super human community in recent years as he sees them as yet another tool to exploit and control. He and his company have been behind the creation of many supers over the years through failed expirements, advanced power armor etc. His greatest foe is the Centurion who has time and time again eluded his control and manipulation and he hates him for it with a passion. Stone will not stop until he is either controlled or humiliated, hopefully both!

SAPPHIRE (Dazzler homage) Corrie Blaire is the most popular female recording artist on the planet and has been since she burst on the scene as a fresh faced sixteen year old. as her pop career skyrocketed unknown to her was a timebomb ticking away inside her, the revelation of her mutant powers! The first thing Corrie knew off this was when the Minutemen invaded her new cocnert tour and took her captive. Her strange sonic and light blue mutant powers burst into life for the first time as she tried to save herself on national tv from the robot monstrosities. She was no match for them however and luckily for her Ironclad of the Protectors was watching the concert. He quickly rounded up the Protectors and after a dangerous adventure they rescued Corrie from the Minutemen's clutches. Her career was now seemingly in ruins however as it broke to the worlds media she was a mutant. She decided to stay with the Protectors as she learnt and trained with her new powers and they protected her from the glare of this unwelcome spotlight. She stayed with the Protectors for quite some time becoming a valued member of the team, but Corrie's fanbase did not in fact desert her in fact it swelled after the mutant revelations and Corrie has recently returned to her career and is probably now one of the msot famous people on earth. She still returns to her team mates in the Protectors when needed and answers the call of those that saved her, But Corrie Blaire is back under her new stage and heroine name SAPPHIRE!

IRONCLAD (Colossus homage) IRONCLAD Peter Drogo was born a mutant in the backwoods of the USSR. He was born with the amazing ability to change his body into a being made up of indestructible Iron. This gave him amazing durability, strength and power. He was soon persecuted though and was soon brought to the attention of the authorities in Moscow. They soon forced him into membership of the Supreme Soviets the official super team of the USSR through threats and intimidation. However after only a few missions Peter defected on a secret mission to the USA and went on the run until he was found by Professor Psion and his team of mutant heroes the Protectors. Peter joined the team and soon became one of its most stalwart and long running members, training hard and putting his great strength and toughness to the benefit of man and mutant kind everywhere.

DEFENDER (Guardian homage) DEFENDER George Harmon was a top research scientist for the Canadian government he developed the Defender battle suit but due to a flaw in the design he found only he could use the cybernetic control system as it was keyed to his brain patterns. Being only a scientist Harmon went back to the drawing board. However the Canadian government were secretly trying to put together a official Canadian super team after Quebec was greatly damaged by a super battle between Grond and Ogre. Not wanting to rely on American “charity “ anymore the government persuaded Harmon to go on a extensive physical training program and train how to use the suit in combat. Harmon agreed and six months later after taking the code name Defender Canada’s first real super hero was born. Tacking leadership of the Team project Harmon researched Canada looking high and low for suitable candidates for the team and a year later his task was finished and the team the Guard was active. The Guard have defended Canada efficiently and well since then despite heavy interference from the Government, however they have come into conflict with both The Protectors and the Next Gen on frequent occasions and relations between the teams is strained. Harmon himself has found it difficult in his Defender identity and has not really come to terms with being Canada’s answer to the Patriot.

NIGHTHAWK (Nightwing homage) NIGHTHAWK Mark Dixon was a young circus acrobat whose entire family was killed by an early rampage of the Black Harlequin. He was saved by the Raven and taken in and eventually adopted by him. After accidentally finding out the Raven’s identity, young Mark fashioned a costume of his own and attempted to join the Raven in his fight against crime as the Kestrel. The raven was horrified and refused to train him but young Mark was so determined he had to reconsider. They become the terror of the Freedom City underworld and for years worked together. Later Kestrel joined the first version of the Next Gen and became that groups long term leader. As he grew older and more experienced Kestrel became more estranged from the Raven balking against his total control and wanting to fly free of his influence. He changed his name to Nighthawk to signal his independence and went solo and spent more time with the Next Gen. He then became romantically involved with the alien Next Gen member Firedancer and this put more distance between himself and the Raven due to his previous romances with both the Raven’s daughter Cybermind and his associate Black Mask. Nighthawk has emerged over the last few years as one of the most honourable and respected heroes. He has been involved in most incarnations of the Next Gen and is seen as the teams brain.

THE GREEN MAN (Swamp-Thing/Man-Thing homage) GREEN MAN Dr. Len Conway was a prominent botanist with many years of respected research when he was brought in by the Panstar corporation to study Wharton state forest. Conway soon learned too much that was good for him and found out that a part of the forest had been turned into a strange chemical swamp by Panstar and Argent who the corporation had several secret ties to. The new Wading swamp area was highly toxic and very dangerous and when Conway confronted Panstar owner Alexander Stone, he found himself shot and left for dead in the swamp in which he so wanted to protect form the corporations exploitation. Something very mystical then occurred. Conway did not die but instead merged with a weird mystical intelligence present in the forest calling itself “the Green”. His body reformed becoming a creature of vegetation, slime and muck that day the Green Man was born. This strange creature soon became the guardian of the swamp and the whole forest protecting it from human interference and misuse and becoming a stanch enemy of both Panstar and Argents continued exploitation of the area. Nether hero or villain the Green Man just is. He has killed humans mercilessly when they have threatened his domain and on other occasions has saved humans from peril and certain death. A solitary creature he has helped the misfit team the Outsiders in some missions but has refused membership stating that the forest and the swamp are his home and what it must protect.

THE PUGILIST (Wildcat homage) PUGILIST Rocky Dempsey was the most successful world heavyweight champion of all time with 35 successful defenses of his crown throughout the 1930’s. He was unmatched as a fighter in boxing history with his speed, skill, power and durability legendary. When world war came a calling Rocky didn’t think twice. He immediately joined the new fledgling Liberty League as the Pugilist one of the most popular heroes of world war two. It was only after many adventures he was discovered to be one of the worlds first mutants albeit a low level one. He continued to serve with distinction until like the rest of the League he disappeared in the late 1940’s after another of the Timemaster’s time traveling schemes. He reappeared as one of the first of the Liberty League to return in the 1960’s and promptly set up a training center for heroes such as the Raven, Foreshadow, Alley Cat and many others who have learned there craft as fighters at his feet. Recently he has rejoined the new revitalized Liberty League as he has realized he has never been affected by age no doubt a side affect of his many cronal adventures with the league.

ALLEY CAT (Catwoman homage) ALLEY CAT Satrine Felice was the daughter of a wealthy politician, however when her father had to resign due to corruption after involvement with the Freedom City mob boss known as the King. Her father unable to take the shame committed suicide and little 9 year old Satrine was thrown into the Freedom City welfare system. Ten years in the system left her a damaged girl she left and went onto the streets becoming first a prostitute then a addict before coming under the wing of the Pugilist. Rocky Dempsey turned her life around and made her see the value of her life. He started to train her in the art of self defense and she became his protégé. She was still very effected by losing her wealth and coveted what she had lost. She also wanted to make the Freedom City mobs pay for what happened to her father. She took the identity of Alley Cat and soon became the most notorious and skilled thief in Freedom City. It was in her first clash with the Hornet that her mutant luck effecting powers first manifested which coupled with her own skills and abilities have made her a deadly foe. She has clashed with both the Raven and the Hornet repeatedly throughout her career and has struck up on off flirtations with both of those heroes. Although her actions have often brought her into conflict with the authorities her modern robin hood stance has mad the public love her and today no one can truly say which side of the angels she fights for.

CONUNDRUM (The Riddler homage) CONUNDRUM The man only known as Conundrum currently works as freelance operative for the seven Freedom City Mob families. They know nothing about his personal background only that he is one of the most effective behind the scenes planners and advisors the Mob has. He goes from boss to boss on a situational basis offering advice on seemingly unanswerable problems and questions they may have. Especially such annoying problems as the Freedom City superheroes such as the Raven. They know nothing about him because there is nothing to know. Conundrum himself remembers nothing of his childhood or his identity, His first memory is putting on the Conundrum mask and deciding to make Freedom City answer the questions he had. He has clashed continually with Raven and Kestrel and has always managed to escape their clutches mainly because he is impossible to link to his schemes. He is currently working for the King a schemer and manipulator even more skilled perhaps than Conundrum himself.

BLACK HARLEQUIN (The Joker homage) BLACK HARLEQUIN Rinaldo Maretti grew up as part of one of the oldest and weirdest circuses that travelled the east coast. Trained as a circus clown and acrobat from an early age he was obviously unbalanced a situation made much worse by his domineering mother and violent father. On his 16th birthday Rinaldo’s mind finally snapped and he went on a killing spree killing every last member of the circus including his family. That day the Black Harlequin was born one of Freedom City’s most deadly known super villains and the Ravens arch enemy. Given unnatural strength by his extreme insanity and hell bent on causing as much murder and destruction as possible (he calls them escapades), the Harlequin is a deadly foe skilled in chemicals and always coming up with new toys to kill people with. He has been most deadly to the Raven, killing the second Kestrel and crippling the first Condor. He has fixated himself on the Raven and will not stop until he has killed or maimed everything dear to the hero.

GROND (Hulk homage) GROND After the Atom family were created by sheer accident by the evil scheme of Dr. Destroyer the US military were intrigued by the possibility of recreating controllable super humans something that had evaded them since the failure of the Infinity Serum during world war 2. Within months Project Sunburst was created with Dr David Peter as its research head. Project Sunburst turned out to be ill fated and cursed from the very start and over the years has been responsible for more monstrous super beings than the US government is willing to admit. The First of these disasters and probably the most powerful being created was Grond. Supposedly Peter was attempting to show his military backers his own personal faith in the project when he made himself the first test subject but it backfired horribly transforming him into a twelve foot tall green monster with four arms and arguably the strongest being on the planet. Much worse was this new beings appetite for violence and destruction and because of its limited intellect and disturbing tendency to be duped into others plans. A Frequent thorn in the side of the Atom Family who feel partly responsible for his creation and Centurion who has had some titanic battles with Grond over the years. No one is sure if Grond is a force for good or evil more likely a force for chaos as the earth’s master mage Eldrich calls him. Eldrich is in fact one of the few individuals able to reach and calm Grond and he has frequently helped “The Wizard” as Grond calls him on his strange missions with the Outsiders. The only other group Grond has worked with is Executive Sanction the official US government super team who managed to control Grond for exactly one mission with mind control tech before Grond overcoming the equipment and going on the rampage. Often forgotten in this is the personal tragedy of Dr Peter who despite infrequent times when he regains control and returns to normal has had his life utterly destroyed by the childlike engine of destruction called Grond.

BLACK TALON (Klaw homage) BLACK TALON Uriah Talon was a professional, hard bitten mercenary. An evil man who had had his hand in far two many evil deeds. He was hired by Doctor Destroyer to head up a secret expedition to the Lost World which Destroyer had discovered had one of the biggest natural deposits of base Impervium the unique metal that Astro Labs and Dr Atom had developed. Talon’s expedition soon feel foul of the Lost world’s guardian Zan-Dar but Talon managed to escape with a small amount of the precious metal. Back in Freedom City during a battle between The Atom Family and Destroyer, Talon was accidentally thrown into the Terminus while holding the metal during an explosion. This event changed Talon’s body irrevocably he somehow merged with both the Terminus and the Impervium. His body became a living version of the Terminus able to wield strange sonic powers but also able to be used by its denizens as a sort of gateway to our dimension. The Impervium also changed welding itself to his hand the Terminus turned it into a strange sort of opposite of itself making it instead of its normal bright white silver a deadly dull black. Now calling himself Black Talon he blames both Zan-Dar and the Atom Family for his changes and has vowed his revenge

FACADE (Invisible Woman homage) FAÇADE Patti Thunder was a skilled research assistant for the government when she was assigned to Dr Alexander Atom’s prestige research projects to work closely with him. She felt an immediate attraction to him although Atom didn’t see it! She was there on that fateful day when the accident transformed her and her brother, Atom and bob Dour into something more than human. Patti gained the ability to create and manipulate invisible globes of force which over the years has proved a very powerful ability and one she has gained extreme skill in using. The four were soon dubbed the Atom Family by the press and this proved to be exactly the case a couple of years later when Alexander and Patti married. There marriage has been a happy one in the main producing one son Chase Atom who himself has proved to be a mutant with powerful abilities. The one blot on their marriage is Patti’s ongoing fascination with Sea-Devil. Despite her trying to deny her feelings for him the Atlantean king has often caused deep problems between Alexander and Patti. Over the years Patti has become one of the most experienced, powerful and capable heroines in the world.

BLAZE (Human Torch homage) BLAZE Billy Thunder was the younger brother of his sister Patti who happened to be engaged to the famous scientist Alexander Atom. Billy got along well with Atom often helping him in his experiments and research. He happened to be there the fateful Day Dr. Destroyer unwittingly caused the formation of one of the most famous hero teams in history the Atom Family! Like the rest of the four young Billy was changed forever by the accident, given the flashy ability to be able to change his body into a fiery blaze with many powers over the element of fire. Quickly dubbed Blaze by the Freedom City Press Billy due to his good looks, flashy powers and firecracker personality has become one of the most popular heroes in the USA. Billy has a deep love/hate relationship with Bob Dour the Monster and they often socialize together. Billy has also romanced many famous heroines most recently Wendy Wildstar.

THE MONSTER (The Thing Homage) THE MONSTER Bob Dour was one of the most famous test pilots in the US airforce. His skill with a plane was a thing of beauty. He was soon seconded to Area 51 where the most secret testing of new planes and weapons took place. This soon brought him into contact with Dr Alexander Atom and over the years the two became firm friends, the opposites in their personalities bringing them together in the work they were doing. That all changed on the day the Monster was born. The accident which transformed the four heroes turned Bob into a freakish monster of a strange rocklike substance which seems to be ever changing, ever mutating. This gave Bob immense superhuman strength and toughness but made him a monster in the eyes of the press, who immediately dubbed him one. Although becoming a founder member of the Atom Family “Uncle Bob” still has not come to terms with his terrible appearance and yearns for a normal life. Despite this he has become one of the most popular and famous heroes in America and as well as becoming the cornerstone of the Atom Family has also strong ties with Until and was for a long time the security director at the Albright Institute which over the years brought him into contact with an amazing number of superheroes. Bob’s greatest wish is a normal life with his long term love Callie Summers daughter of the Raven, who had a crime fighting career herself until seriously injured by the Black Harlequin.

AMAZING MAN (Mr. Fantastic homage) AMAZING MAN Dr Alexander Atom is without doubt considered the greatest genius of the late 20th century despite many others claiming that title. He had been an acclaimed scientist all his life and this was how he would have stayed maybe, in the background until a fateful day when he was thrown together with the infamous Nazi research scientist Von Sydow. Despite Alexander’s best attempts at friendship Von Sydow harboured a secret hatred for his rival and put in place a scheme to expose Atom and his family at the next powerful Atomic test they were conducting giving them a horrible death in the process. Von Sydow’s scheme worked up until a point but instead of killing his enemies instead the powerful energies somehow infused them with great and strange powers. Atom was given the weird power to be able to stretch and mold his body in a thousand and one wonderful ways, the explosion also seemed to heighten his intellect and scientific capability making him more than ever an Amazing man. With all his other family members gaining powers they decided that they must put their boon/curse to good use and soon became one of the most famous superhero teams the Atom Family!

DOCTOR DESTROYER (Doctor Doom Homage) DR DESTROYER Willem Von Sydow was born in a small town in rural Rumania, he came however from poor Austrian heritage and despite him being a child prodigy and in time proving himself a genius he was never accepted or liked by his peers. Showing both extreme disdain for his fellow students however came naturally to the arrogant and disgruntled Von Sydow and he was soon attracted to the Nazi ideals of a superior race. Offering his services he soon became a rising star in the Nazi scientific hierarchy and was given both funding and status within the party to fund his increasingly sinister research. Von Sydow was soon given his own concentration camp to more easily fulfil his research goals and he was soon infamous throughout Germany as “Dr Destroyer” he who destroyed his victims lives in the cause of science. His reign of terror continued until he was captured by the allies at the end of the war. The allies reluctantly decided rather than prosecute him he had much more value as a scientist and they put him to work on the new atomic bomb program to work closely with their most brilliant scientist Dr Alexander Atom. Von Sydow recognised in Atom for the first time someone who could maybe be his intellectual superior and instantly deeply hated him for it. He schemed both to sabotage Atom’s upcoming atomic testing and at the same time prove himself Atom’s superior by building the worlds first and greatest suit of personal powered armor. His first goal went only two well but this had disastrous consequences for the second. Dr Atom and three close members of his family were caught in the botched atomic test but so was Von Sydow himself. The Atom family unbelievably survived but were forever changed by the terrible accident, given strange, weird powers that they would slowly have to come to terms with. Von Sydow himself was saved from certain death by his amazing armor but instead was horribly burned within it and sealed within a terrible living prison he still now seeks to escape. While the Atom Family decided to use their strange new gifts to aid the world as one of the first of a new generation of super hero groups, Von Sydow perversely blamed them for his fate and his hatred grew even deeper. He retreated back to Rumania and over the coming years staged a bloody coup and took over the country putting himself into an even greater position to strike back at his hated foes the Atom Family and eventually to rule the world.

DR SIMIAN (Gorilla Grodd homage) DR. SIMIAN The mad genetic genius Teleios had set up a long term project and base in the Congo working on animal intelligence primarily among simians. This work was interrupted however by a raid from a Grue assault team while Teleios was away. The Grue raiding party took many subjects for study and experimentation but one stood out a huge Gorilla who had already been genetically improved vastly both mentally and physically. The Grue telepaths made him their prime subject seeking to unlock and control vast mental powers they sensed Teleios had given the animal. They succeeded only too well unleashing mental powers that the Gorilla now calling himself “Dr Simian” used to overpower and kill the Grue’s holding him captive. Travelling back to the Congo Simian then proceeded to take over Teleios base for himself and building it into a true city for himself and his intelligent primate subjects. Soon ruling over a city he called Simian City, Dr Simian has become a real thorn in the side of many heroes mostly notably Johnny Rocket, the White Lion, Grey Hunter and his own mutant sun Dr. Silverback.

ASLAN (Zabu homage) ASLAN Aslan is the lord of the beasts of the Lost world and the protector of Zan-Dar. Seemingly magical in nature and origin he was named by Zan-Dar but the origin of his birth and strange powers of healing and immortality remain shrouded in mystery. One thing remains sure Aslan will protect both the Lost World and his master with his life.

ZAN-DAR (Tarzan/Ka-Zar homage) ZAN-DAR Zan-Dar the Jungle lord is really Lord Alexander Challenger who was marooned in the Lost World by his dying parents after a failed expedition as a very small infant back in the 1930’s raised by the apes and other beasts of the Lost World as a kind of lost king he was given the name “Zan-Dar” meaning jungle lord and given secret herbal powders which would turn out to prolong his life making him effectively immortal. Trained from an early age both to survive in the Lost World and to communicate with the beasts there Zan-Dar is both a an amazing physical combatant and has an uncanny ability to communicate with the beasts of the Lost World. Despite traveling back to civilization to search out his background Zan-Dar has always returned to the lost World to protect it from what he sees is the corrosive effect of mankind. After the Lost World was discovered in the modern era by first the Atom Family and then the Protectors Zan-Dar become a staunch ally of both groups and even for a time traveled back to Freedom City with the Protectors and became a protector of the urban metropolis. Recently however the Mastermind has set up one of his huge sprawling bases deep in the mountains of the Lost World and both Zan-Dar and the Protectors traveled back to the Lost World to save it from his evil rule. Zan-Dar is joined in his protection of the Lost World by the king of the beasts the huge lion Aslan who also seems to be magically immortal and intelligent and would protect Zan-Dar with his life.

SEA-DEVIL (Namor the Sub-Mariner homage) SEA DEVIL Zamor is the famous some would say infamous father of Sea King, in fact of all Atlantis itself! Born the heir to a massive undersea kingdom, Zamor has fought hard over the years to overcome his legendary temper and prejudice against the human surface dwellers whom he saw as invading and preying on his kingdom. Zamor first became known to the surface world when he was supped into joining the Axis in world war 2 and led the forces of Atlantis in a joint attack with the Japanese against Pearl Harbour. He soon saw the Axis for the evil scum that they were and switched sides becoming a frequent ally of the Liberty League and falling in love with one of its members Siren. After the war Zamor took her for his bride and little was heard of from Atlantis until the evil influence of Dr Destroyer forced Zamor and Atlantis once again to invade the surface world this time Freedom City which was only thwarted by the prompt interference of the Atom Family. Zamor soon fell deeply in love with Facade from the Atom Family putting immense strain on his marriage and earning the long term enmity of Dr Atom. Deciding he needed time away from Atlantis Zamor turned over the throne to his young son Theseus and began a wander lust that continues to this day. In recent times Sea Devil has only emerged from the seas to aid the enigmatic Eldrich and his strange band of Outsiders in their weird adventures to help humanity. Some say this proves that the Sea Devil is one of humanities protectors while others would point to his invasions of the surface world and be dubious of that statement. His son Sea King ever mindful of his duty to Atlantis has an often strained relationship with his headstrong father.

SEA-KING (Aquaman homage) SEA KING The hero named Sea King is the current monarch of Atlantis and lord of the seven seas. He is a member of the extensive royal family of Atlantis and son of the famous Sea Devil and human heroine of world war 2 Siren. Their union produced Theseus their first born son. When Sea Devil attacked Freedom City for the second time with the forces of Atlantis under the secret control of Doctor Destroyer, his young heir rebelled against him and with the help of the Atom Family repelled the attack and with his father mentally damaged from Destroyers control took sole charge of the kingdom. Since then he has become a stalwart member of the Freedom League as well as performing his duties as king of Atlantis. He soon married and has had two children of his own Prince Marus, Princess Neireid and has remained on mostly friendly terms with his impetuous father Sea Devil. Sea King recently decided that Atlantis should officially join the UN and this has been accomplished although relations are shaky with many nations who remember how dangerous Atlantis has been after attacks by his father or takeovers by members of the royal family such as Leviathan, Stingray and Ashlook the Barbarian.
