Since gaining his powers he has gained much solid muscle but manages to hide this well under baggy clothes in school he has longish brown hair and wears glasses. In costume Kid Amazing wears a silvery and black costume with the black being in the design of clouds of billowing darkness he wears silver boots and gloves and his cowl is also silver. His chest has a stylised KA in gold.Personality: In his personal life Paul is still very unsure of himself and still lacking in confidence, All his school fears about being unpopular and geeky resurface and he is still being bullied quite reguarly. He is deeply besotted by Nicole Watts his schools head cheerleader who of course does not even know Paul exists but strangely is Kid Amazing's number one fan. His uncle Matt is a huge source of inspiration for Paul being a Gulf War veteran and hero and much of Matt's code of ethics and bravery have rubbed off on his teenage nephew. In costume Paul is the opposite seemingly very confident almost to the point of recklesness. Almost as if he is free of his everyday life and can truly be himself while in costume.Quote:"Now you See Me Now You Dont"Background: Paul Pender was his most famous high school geek. President of the chess club and Mr. internet he did not even try to to talk to girls, they did not even know he exsisted. He was bullied and ridiculed and that was a good day. His parents tried to make him more outgoing and social but nothing seemed to work, he only seemed truly happy around his uncle Matt who was a techinican at Astro Labs. One day Uncle Matt had good news he had got Paul a work placement at Astro Labs for a few weeks working under the famous Professor Hydra. Paul was soon helping Hydra with his experiments to tap into what Hydra called the Fifth Dimension. Paul soon found that Hydra's work was flawed and he was cuting dangerous corners. He tried to speak to Hydra but was dismissed as a foolish teenager. Paul accepted this as the great professor must know best. The day of the expirement turned into a terrible disaster. Paul's parents were their proud of their sons work, little did they know it would be their death. When Hydra started the expirement strange dark energies flowed into the room tearing a whole in the fabric of reality and building a bridge to the Dark Dimension. In a massive explosion everyone was either killed or thrown into the dimensional warp. Only Paul and Professor Hydra seemingly srvived but both were changed and altered by the dark energies forever. Since then Paul has served Freedom City as Kid Amazing with Professor Hydra being forever in the background as his arch nemesis.Powers/Tactics: Paul was changed by the conenction to the Dark Dimension becoming physically much more powerful gaining super human speed strength and endurance as well as the amazing ability to call on the Dark Dimension and manifest it in our universe for various effects. Paul is stil lquite inexperianced with his powers but so far can cover an area in darkness or project bolts or missiles of darkness for various effects. lastly he can also enter in and out of the dark dimension appearing to vansish and appear in another location. Al lthese powers are very tiring however and he is unable to keep up their effects for very long. Being a budding inventor and scientist he has a small gadget pool he can use to whip up minor effects when needed. Lastly Paul does not understand where his new found luck comes from but it always seems to help him when he needs it most.Campaign Use: Kid Amazing is the Homage Universe's version of Spider-Man. I did not want to use spider powers directly but instead went with something else which seemed a bit weird and strange. His role and personality however are pure Spider-Man. He is the cocky kid superhero who always seems to come up trumps and one of the most popular heroes in my universe.
  3. As I mentioned in my ideas for a Spider-Man thread, I am restarting my Homage Universe and throught it would be nice to share the characters. I have decided on the rules that all characters must be original, no direct translations from champions or mutants and masterminds and they must all be direct homages to DC/Marvel characters. I will be posting my previous characters as wel llike the Raven and Astroman. rgds Torch
  4. Dr. Destroyer Well this guy was always clearly based on Dr. Doom and was always a character I loved. However in 5th edition the character has imo become bloated and over powerful for his role and in my conversion of him for my homage campaign I will be scaling back his offensive power considerably. Things like DEX and SPD will be toned down to more normal levels and the primary and secondary weapons arrays will be reduced big time to more manageable levels. His defense is fine, I always thought Dr. Doom much like Ulton was a more defensive sort of character. The skill list and perks and bases are great and the character conception is fine I just want him back to his Doom like role of most dangerous mastermind not most dangerous super hero killer whose very use in a scenario is a major world event. Would also tie him heavily to my camapigns Fantastic Four homages (whoever they end up being) as a given. opinionsregarding DR. D or any other character homages? rgds Torch
  5. I am restarting my Homage character thread soon and was asking for ideas on a Spider-Man homage. But to stop myself reinventing the wheel and just as a fun discussion what are the great homages to DC/Marvel characters already published by Hero games and for games like Mutants and Masterminds with their Freedom City setting and the Algernon Files. What do people think are the great homage characters? who are they based on? why do they work or why not? I will start the ball rolling with a pretty obvious one. DOCTOR DESTROYER rgds Torch
  6. Re: Help and ideas with Spider-Man Homage Any further ideas before I take the plunge and create the character? rgds Torch
  7. Reading the Black Canary Homage thread has got my juices going. I would love to run a super hero universe where the the characters are recognisable and clear homages to mainstream DC/Marvel characters as my players have always enjoyed the recognition of such icons, but I as the GM get rid of the problem of "but the Hulk should be stronger than that, blah, blah, blah" So, starting with Spider-Man who can give me some ideas and inspiration for a homage to him keeping the following in mind. I want the essance of the character to be there which in my mind is troubled teen, with a power set that reflects his comic book style. Weird, fast, acrobatic, some super science, always wins through. Now im not wedded to a direct homage with spider powers as such but I want him to have the same role in my campaign ie superstar teen hero with problems but bright flashy and very four colour. Names always help me a lot so pls include names if you have any ideas. I will post the character in a seperate thread once all inspiration is in lol. thks Torch
  8. Re: Ultimate Superheroes Universe Characters Oh for god's sake. Thread ended rgds Torch
  9. Tachyon Like this new character using him pretty unchanged and placing him once again in Jack in the Box's rogues gallery. rgds Torch
  10. Re: Ultimate Superheroes Universe Characters lol no need to take the Micheal, I am just talking about my ammendments to existing CU characters to fit them better into my universe. I am not attempting to give HD files or whole characters just talk in general terms of background and stats. rgds Torch
  11. Pulsar Again pretty good character and an old favourite. Moving him to Jack in the Box's rogues gallery (my Spidey homage). Increasing his general power level somewhat to the 14 DC level and making him a bit more versatile. rgds Torch
  12. Mechanon Love the character always have, very few changes. Background - Wed him firmly into the Strike Force Rogues gallery as maybe their most deadly villain. Also link his origin to the group through their Hank Pym character (not yet decided). Powers - only real change is to give him some major Damage Reduction 75% for all physical and energy to make him even more Ulton like. rgds Torch
  13. Icicle Main chnage is making her a reformed hero and young member of the Protectors my X-Men homage. She is perfect for them leaving her power level well alone giving her plenty of room to grow. rgds Torch
  14. Green Dragon Has always been one of my favourite characters since way back so not many changes here. Background wise I am tying him into The Freedom City Villain Dr.Sin who I love as his eledest son (As you will see in my universe Dr.Sin has quite a few superpowered family members both good and evil). And the leader of Dr.Sins personal group of villains the Seven Deadly Sins. I am making him primarily in Nightwinds rogues gallery and also part of the Kestrels. Character wise I am increasing his combat skill levels slightlybut everything else is fine. rgds Torch
  15. Devestator changing to Steel Cat I like the character and concept of Devestator as a power armor/thief but dislike the name. does not suit him or his character concept in any way. So he is now known as the Steel Cat much more in concept imo. Only other change is to make him part of Major Atom's (my Captain Atom homage from 4th edition) rogues gallery. All other elements remain in place. rgds Torch
  16. Fictional Cities I have always favoured the DC way of doing things using various fictional cities rather than placing everything in New York like Marvel. This has the added benefit of being able to use the RPG material I already have. So The Universe will ONLY use fictional cities. It will be based in Freedom City my favourite, but will also see extended use of San Angelo, Millenium City, Vibora Bay, Hudson City and Empire City. Again heroes and teams will be split amoung these cities so no over crowding in one location takes place. rgds Torch
  17. Villains and Rogues Galleries Right, before I start accessing and amaending villains I really should list down the various rogues galleries they can fall into. I an setting up the Universe as I said like a combined DC/Marvel universe, so I need to set ins tone who the popular teams/heroes are who would have their own running books/titles. Then divide the villians/villain groups between them so they all feel in their correct "place". No fifty percent of all villains being hunted by the champions here thank you lol. So the next posts will list the various superstars of the universe and set them in stone. rgds Torch
  18. Witchcraft Again great character no real changes needed apart from making her a more direct Zatanna homage. To that effect im giving her the incantations limitation on her magic which is not the standard 5th addition way of doing champions supermages. She is a sometime member of my JLA homage the Guardians and a core member of the Circle. Also lastly a change in her background makes both her and Talisman the twin daughters of Max Pendragon from Vibora Bay (A last little Zatanna touch). rgds Torch
  19. Sapphire I l,ove the character just as she is, leaving her almost intact as my direct Dazzler homage. The only obvious change is to port her over to the Protectors and make her a core member of my premier mutant team. Sapphire – Young music superstar who is also a mutant member of the Protectors. Sapphire can emit blue energy in the form of various blasts from her body. Her beauty and flirty nature have got her into various romantic triangles within the group. rgds Torch
  20. Nighthawk Mmm big changes here, basic concept of a Batman character is still there mixed with Dr. Midnight. In my Universe Nighthawk is one of the original and world famous Freedom Squad of the 30-40s and the Father of the Raven. His power level is about the same but with much more exp, but reduced physical stats. He is a very mysterious character with many questions unanswered about his background. In the modern era he splits his time between the Freedom Squad and being the mentor to the Academy of young heroes. Oh and the duck bill is no where to be seen lol. Nighthawk – One of the very first crime fighters Nighthawk was one of the original members of the Freedom Squad, using his extensive martial arts prowess and arsenal of gadgets most based on the properties of light and dark against the criminals of the 1930’s and 1940’s. The father of the Raven, Nighthawk now mentors the Academy rgds torch
  21. Ironclad Ironclad exists and is pretty much as is. I like the character and concept and will use him as my Charlie 27 Homage. So for that he is a member of the Galaxy Legion and I am increasing his general defences and KB resistaance somewhat. Also increase his combat skill levels reflecting his great gladiator experiance. Ironclad – Recent member of the Galaxy Legion, this powerful alien has immense strength and toughness and tons of combat experience due to being a famous galactic wrestler for years. His skin is a metallic substance and his body is super dense and hard. Long-term foe of the alien Supervillain Firewing. rgds Torch
  22. Defender Defender exists and is my campaign's homage to Iron Man. To achieve this his power and experiance level will be boosted considerably. Attacks and defences boosted considerably, contact list expanded reflecting his experiance and longevity and given his own rogues gallery reflecting he would have his own long running title. Long term member, benefactor and some time leader of Strike Force. a technical genius and rich playboy, during the Vietnam war built the first powered armor of the silver age and dubbed himself America’s Defender. With many upgrades and modifications during the years and with a healthy dose of the Infinity serum, Defender has become one of the most respected and powerful hero’s of the modern age. Long term founder member of Strike Force. Has two weaknesses has a heart problem that his armor protects and has been a secret heroin addict since the early 1970’s. rgds Torch
  23. The Champions They dont exist as a superteam. Dont like them and they are too generic for my tastes. However will be usuing the vast majority of the characters in different ways. rgds Torch
  24. The Champions Sourcebook For the next few posts i will be talking bout how my campaign will be changing the characters/teams from the Champions Sourcebook. rgds Torch
  25. The Jaguar League The Jaguar League are my South and central American super hero group based in Brazil. They are a small group with a very loose structure and membership. They deal with mainly national and international threats. thks guys for the help with naming this group. rgds Torch
