  1. Re: Venture Brothers Hero?

For the record' date=' Fee Waybill of The Tubes and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace are both real people.[/quote']

As are David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and Klaus Nomi (spelling?), but in the world of the Venture Brothers, all rock stars are supervillains. Or so it would seem.

What can I say? Vendetta Rhapsody for Saturday was cancelled and Shadows Angelus won't run again until the 19th.

Yeah, no joy here. Guess we could post more quotes from the 'blue booking' files between sessions. Some of those have been pretty good, but they're not from actual gaming sessions, so maybe they should be in a different thread?

  3. Re: Regrettable Disads

I had a character with "enraged when injured" on a 14 or less." I originally defined this as uncommon, because said character had a high DCV, and seldom took Body damage. I played him as a serious, intelligent combatant.

Then I moved him to a different campaign--and the villains had much higher OCV's. He got wounded in every fight, and went chasing off after the focus of his enraged, making it impossible for him to use any intelligent combat tactics, or to coordinate with the rest of his team. If he recovered from his enraged, another villain would tag him, and the process would repeat. Suddenly my tactical genius had a bad case of attention deficit disorder.

In short, the disad went unexpectedly went from 'uncommon' to 'very common' and nearly ruined the character concept. It pays to talk to the GM in advance about these things. Bought that one way down in a hurry!

    Session 7 of Vendetta Rhapsody:

Koyotie in SID is talking to Erica Chase, her reporter friend, about covering an ICOMP bust of a smuggling attempt coming up the river. Said reporter wants the two of them "embedded" with the ICOMP squad.

Mary Tower (a.k.a. Koyotie): "Do you want to be in the middle of Bagdad on a bridge of the Mississippi?"

Sounds good--I think I'll call of one of the upcoming sessions "Bagdad on the Mississippi."

  5. Re: Signs your Champions GM is now (fill in the blank)

Signs your Champions GM is now George W Bush:

    1) Declares he's "The Decider" and promptly decides to do everything his way, regardless of what the players wanted.

    2) Initially signs off on all the PCs, but reserves the right to make "signing statements" as to how the PCs can use their powers.

    3) When presented with the rule book, tells the players to "stop sticking this in my face, it's just a damn piece of paper!"

    4) Puts up a "Mission Accomplished" banner after the PCs win their first combat.

    5) When his buddy Cheney joins the game, he apparently gets an extra "no-bid" 100 xps to build his PC.

    6) If/when the PCs finally corner Dr. Destroyer, it's only to find he's decamped to an "undisclosed location."

    7) The activities of any villain group -- any group at all, even GRAB, can be traced by to Sadam Hussein's desire to get weapons of mass destruction.

    INDEED!!!

    8) When a PC complains about #7, their secret identity is leaked to the press.

  6. Re: Orions Arm - Possible Goldmine?

Yes! Another carrier for the meme! Orion's Arm rules! :hail:

It's an amazing setting, which I'd love to run "as is", if I ever find a group of players as enthusiastic as Mr. CraterMaker. For the time being, it's a nice place for ideas--check out the Dyson Trees! My Traveller players were caught totally "conceptually off-guard" by this.

And guess what? The PC's managed to avoid destroying it! :D

  7. Re: Interesting Megastructures

Apologies posting something from a non-Hero campaign.

Last time I ran Traveller, I used a ring around a planet in synchronous orbit, with several towers connecting it to the surface. I don't have the exact figures with me, but it was "relatively" small, due to the planet's small size and rapid rotation. The ring averaged about 1km in diameter, and was somewhat underpopulated with about 90 billion people. The PC's never got around to exploring most of it, for the usual reasons.... :drink::joint::bmk:

Fortunately, the PC's were on vacation there, so the adventure didn't conclude with the destruction of the entire orbital construct. (For once. )

The real mega-structure was inside an Ancient's portal; a pocket universe containing a dyson sphere constructed around a black hole. Which of course, they destroyed. Accidentally. No, really....
