Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
I'm torn. I figured last season that Iroh would be the firebending teacher, but now after watching "The Avatar and the Firelord" I think Zuko is going to be the instructor because something is going to happen to Iroh.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
I got my hands on eps 7,8,9 from the UK and Katara now makes Master Paku look like a thug. Ok maybe not that bad, but wow.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Now that the third season is about half over, maybe I should get working on this again.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
For anyone interested I'm posting the HD prefab file for the beginnings of waterbending.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Since my current plans have every power with RSR there is also the possibility of using the -1 to skill for every 5 Active Points instead of the standard -1 for every 10 to start for the really big powers.
-
Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Restricting the DCs and possible advantages should be able to do that without requiring a minimum cost and possible changes to the mechanics.A lower skill roll' date=' or skill progression might help curb that too?[/quote']Yeah you're both probably right. As I said before I'm very new to the system, never done anything besides Champions characters and then only like two, I just love the system.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
That would depend on what starting level the GM was looking for I think. Do you want to "grow" the characters like on the show' date=' or start them out already able to kick butt like many of the NPCs that the group has encountered?[/quote']I completely agree that the final decision is up to the GM, those were my suggestions primarily for that reason alone. 100/100 for more powerful characters and the 75/75 would represent the characters at the beginning of the series.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
I've been thinking this morning the the powers should have a minimum active point to cause certain powers from not being usable early on, therefore requiring the player to put points into their VPP. The obvious example would be for firebenders and lightning.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Very nice! Keep it up.Were you planning on using the characters from the show and timeline being concurrent? Or, do you have something else in mind?
Well currently I'm just working up the setting and it will be easiest to just use what's in the show for now, but coming up with other ideas shouldn't be too difficult.
I've got to redo my HeroDesigner files because for some reason when I was visiting my parents this weekend I started working up ideas and left them on their HDD instead of transferring them to my Flash Drive.
Another note that I didn't put in the previous post was that I think the game shouldn't start with more than 100/100, maybe even 75/75 but it can be decided either way. With current plans starting as a bender would take around 45 points so I guess it would depend on how much a GM felt was needed for background.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Well I've been working on some ideas and evidently my ideas came from this thread. I was primarily using the 10 point talent for bending with a 1 point talent falling underneath for each power learned, I didn't think a knowledge skill fit quite as well.
The starting package I'm working on involves a 30 point VPP with the very limited limitation allowing only one element (obviously this would be a little different for the Avatar but I'm not getting into that yet).
I've been mostly working on Waterbending since that is what's been seen the most in the series. My list of current powers is as such:
Water whip (EB), Ice Shards(RKA), Ice Sliding(Running/physical manifestation, 'stuck feet 1' (entangle), 'stuck feet 2' (knockback resistance), push and pull the water, fog(change enviroment), healing(healing), streaming the water, ice armour(force field), freeze(change enviroment, possible secondary effect of entangle), Tsunami Riding (flying with phsyical manifestation)
I've thought about the idea of weapon elements with martial arts, but I still have difficulties understanding martial arts (even reading UMA) but at that I did do some research into which types of Martial Arts are used by each kingdom.
Waterbending seems to be based off Tai Chi. Earthbending is Hung Gar (a form of Kung Fu), with one exception being Toph who uses Southern Praying Mantis (also a form of Kung Fu). Firebending is Northern Shaolin (more kung fu). Finally Airbending is Baguazhang (again kung fu).
That's what I've got for now.
Hope it's enjoyed.
Andrew
As a secondary note I've found the site http://avatarspirit.net to be quite helpful, especially since it has scripts for all but the last two episodes of book 2.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender
I've actually been working on things for the past two weeks, but being as new to the system as I am it's been difficult.

Re: Possible Teen Champions Help
Honestly, there is no general direction, it's just general. I'm just looking for anything.
-
Re: Possible Teen Champions Help
And character ideas, and....Wholesale borrowing comes to mind. Of course, a lot depends on whether or not your players have actually watched the show. If they haven't, you can lift more directly than if you have.
Most of us are old comic book nerds, we watch nearly everything based off comics (and if anyone brings up "Catwoman" they will be hunted by Foxbat and CLOWN and a party will be thrown between the two)
-
Re: Possible Teen Champions Help
is the Teen Titans available on DVD?My group typically doesn't like playing already existing characters so doing the Teen Titans really wouldn't work.
-
I've been working on ideas for a Teen Champions game for a while. I haven't really ran any games since the late 90's with a WEG Star Wars campaign. I'm wondering if anyone might have some adventures for TC that they may be willing to share to help someone out.
Thank you,
Andrew

Re: Indiana Jones with root access
Indy: Hmm, looks like a botched low-level format, but if I'm reading this correctly ... we've found it. Do you know what this is? It's DOS .3, long since lost to the world, it's been said that with it, the truth was once known as to what corrupted Microsoft.

Re: Indiana Jones with root access
I can see it now.
Indy: Why can't people learn how to properly use pointers.

Re: Aliens watching our television
It might not be much help, but there was an episode of the older TV show Amazing Stories that had aliens that picked up our tv in the 60's and thought the world was just like "I Love Lucy". It was quite amusing.
-
I was just wondering a couple of things for current GMs.
1. How in depth of background do you require your players to have?
2. How often do you make sure players Psych Lims/Vulnerbilities/Suseptability/etc come into play (ie. you make sure that you are going to trigger these specific limitations)?
Thanks,
Andrew

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
Several quotes from a couple different game sessions of our Chicago-based Champions game.
The team's martial artist is suseptible to mental attacks. The team's mentalist has a helmet that helps defend him from mental attacks. The martial artist is about to go in to a place where we all know there are mentalists lying in wait to attack us:
Martial Artist: "Give me your helmet."
Team Leader: "Don't you put in on! That might cause soem bio-feedback and make your brain start working."
"Ultra-sonic Doppler Alarms...USDA?"
"I can leap short buildings in a single bound!"
After trying to figure a way around security cameras and deciding to fly above them:
"It's a shame I didn't flash the camera..."
"Most people who buy a clue with a check, the check don't bounce.
To a vampire:
"Oh bite me."
After one of our party "turns to the darkside" by joining leagues with a vampire:
"So who's going to tell her wife. I mean..."
Villain: "That's something I admire in your kind..."
Team Leader: "Blatant stupidity?"

I look at some posted characters and I see people talking about increasing their range.
And my question is, how is this done? I'd think it might be with telescopic vision, but when I read it's entry in 5ER it says it just affect PER rolls not range modifer.
Any help?

Re: On Multiform and Potential Abuses Thereof....
I could just be looking at something wrong, but I thought constant powers like multiform, when used in a multipower, would cease functioning after the activated phase.
Granted it's quite possible for me to be completely confused on it too.

Re: Name That Band Hero!
More, based on characters.Johnny --- Sound-based Images; prefers "Big Band Music" whenever he can get away with it.
Mohammed --- Communications expert.
Brother Billy --- Gun expert.
Charlie --- Mind Control via drugs.
The group is known as The EDYM ("Easily Disturbed Young Men).
I'll take a shot and guess The Smashing Pumpkins

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
Last night was the first session where our characters got to do anything, and there were 5 of us against 30+ VIPER agents. Being new to heroing (both IC and OOC) we were trying to take them out quickly. I used my 10D6 EB with 5 shots autofire to hit 4 of the agents.
First agent:
GM: Make your to-hit roll, it's at 17-.
Me: Ok. *rolls dice* 8.
GM: Roll Damage.
Me: *rolls dice* Oh F***. 6,6,5,5,5,4,4,3,2,2 - 42 Stun, 11 Body
GM: Roll hit location
Me: O...k *rolls* 13 - vitals
Now note my powers are radiation based.
Technomancer: "Well that's one way to reduce the population of viper agents"
Nightshade: "Ow"
White Dragon: "Talk about mutant offspring"
Me: "Hey Cerebrex I think we've figured out your existance"
GM: Who's got code versus killing?
White Dragon and Nightshade raise their hands.
Me: umm, I do too.
GM: He's at 0 Body, and you've just seen your fellow teamate try to kill someone.
Me: Should I retire now ... ?
