  1. Steve,

Me and someone else have been debating this:

If a character has Str 12

and OIF Str, No figured Characteristics 13

    Total Str 25

    What is there leaping?

I insist that it is 5" (Based on the chart on page 21)

He says that it is 4", essentialy Str 12 gives you 2", str 13 gives you 2" for 2+2=4".

My problem with his logic is then the same character would only be able to lift aprox 290 kg or do 4 1/2d6 of damage, this seems wrong to me

  2. ONE SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE DUPLICATION METHOD:

When you recombine your Body/Stun/End/Etc... are averaged together, this is what I use as the deciding factor between summons and Duplication

Note: I feel Duplication should be droped as a power and merged into summons

  3. I asked the question to steve about the dispell (and entangle as I see them being related)

The problem with the severing the bond is that it only works for some F/X, take Aqua Wimp from the old SUperfriends cartoon:

His ability to summon sea life could be bought with summons (with appropriate limitations, or maybe not, them ariving on there own power and being in the area was definatly a F/X in some episodes), but assuming after the whale was there you dispelled it, the whale was not going to disapear, nor is it going to stop listining to Aquaman (It's ruler)

With other effects it makes sense for it to remain but loose the amicable (Someone who can summon a demon slave)

And for yet more F/X it makes sense for it to make them go poof (the holosummons above).

  4. What happens if a Dispell is used on a Entangle that has already happened

Ex. Glob man hits lasso chic with a entangle, Next phase Rat Man uses his VPP for a Dispell on ENtangles, can he dispell it even though the power is an instant that is not being used?

    Same question for summons

Mage boy summons a demonling, Mage Girl goes the next phase and tries to dispell it

My point is, the rules state that the only way to have something summoned leave is to Dispel it. Buying Dispel costs the character points. Your version of making them "want" to leave is nothing more than a tactic to try and get Dispel for free. You are trying to save the points by making the summoned create want to leave of its own accord.

You should not be allowed to make a summoned creature "want" to leave, but if a GM is going to let you do it (and thus basically giving you the Dispel power for free) then that same GM should allow that summoned creature to not "want" to come from time to time. That way the player does not abuse the privilage of the free Dispel. It's a balance issue. Sometimes if you give something for free, you have to take away some of the unending possibilities as well, IMO.

Mon, I think that is a little bit restrictive.

I as a GM have no problem with a player being able to send back his summons IF the thing wants to leave (and at the +1 level it will want when ever you want it to). By the way it is easy enough to put both powers (Summon and Dispell:Summon, only my own summons) in a MP

  6. I would go with the Attack Vs LImited Defense: Flash Defence: hearing personaly.

As it is a no range AE attack you don't really need to roll to hit (where else is it going to land)

    So my version

Sonic Cry, all slots: Concentration, Must Concentrate throughout use of Constant Power (1/2 DCV; -1/2), Incantations, Requires Incantations throughout (-1/2), No Range (-1/2)

18 1) Energy Blast 2d6 (vs. ED), Personal Immunity (+1/4), Continuous (+1), Area Of Effect (5" Radius; +1 1/4), Attack Versus Limited Defense: Flash Defence: Hearing (+1 1/2) (50 Active Points); Linked to Flash (-1/4)

7 2) Flash 2d6 (Hearing Group), Continuous (+1), Area Of Effect (5" Radius; +1 1/2) (21 Active Points); Linked to Energy Blast (-1/2)

    Powers Cost: 25

    A reasonably cost power

Wouldn't it need to be UAA as well?, probably in a MP

  8. Try this Unified origin on:

10,000 years ago there was a city named Atlantis, that was a meca for sorcerors and technology, then came the horde (a evil demonic race from another dimmension), and to protect the rest of the world they cast one huge spell that caused there city to sink to the bottom of the sea.

The spell also brought an end to magic as they knew it, as the spell put up barriors between the earth dimension and the source of magic, only allowing a trickle through. the gods of the ancient lands were also sealed away, only able to observe and through the use of GREAT amounts of power influence, normaly in the form of dreams and visions, but sometimes in the flesh (only the greatest of the gods could manage this feet, such as the members of the olympians)

2000 thousand years ago another attack by the horde starded to weaken the barriors, again the Atlanteeans fought back, but this time instead of a dam, it was a patch

Modern day, the barrier has collapsed do to some event (space ship crashing into one of the seals, a nuclear bomb going off at the wrong place...) and now the magic, untamed is mutating people into supers

Just trying to give a bit of help here... :D

I think that the liim should probably be a -1/2 in any super heroic game, as the average recovery is higher, and regeneration is more common, for that matter in fantasy as well as any setting that does see a lot of use of powers

OMG. Whatta dork. The couple of people I've seen with two different colored eyes, I'd call it a few extra points of comliness, maybe because it's exotic. This guy wants DF for it, then he gets like one normal eye and one hideously glowing eye or the second eye id the size of a pool ball.

I would allow this as a DF (A single, easily concealable, 5 points) as it makes the character easier to identify (IE who commited this crime, Mr Officer all I remember is that he had one green and one blue eye, thank you ma'am that is a big help)

  11. I would have a problem with the "armor" one you mention, as I feel it should come down to F/X.

Example, let say Rock Man and Rock Boy both have rocky exteriors that protect them from harm. Rock Man has bought his as OIHID Armor, rock Boy on the other hand finds it harder to stay in form, and as such he has bought his as a FF, end to activate (not sure if that is legal, but I would allow it). Same F/X (except how hard it is to keep the form), so by the armor version above Rock Boy suffers while Rock man does not.

Now Force Fields are interesting as they are both a F/X and a power, I would allow the above on the F/X FF but not the game ellement FF...

As for the hardened, ironicaly I would allow it, even though it is a game element, can't articulate why, but I would

And I LIKE the last one, makes for a good spell or something

  12. Two solutions,

The team of players is allowed to come up with ideas and then the Leader Character gets to act like he came up with it, or the Leader should be designed as to make up for the players short commings, with maybe some skill levels UBO x8 or other methods to help the team succeed

    Both ideas can work together

  13. Hermit: What is IC and OOCly?

What makes a good leader, interesting question: First I think a team can have two or more leaders (A battlefield and a PR type thing)

The field type needs a good head for tactics, the ability to think fast and while caring about his teammates, the willingness to let them die. If any of you remember the episodes of Angel that introduced Fred we got to see that Angel was a terrible leader while Wes was, because Wes realised people would die, and Angel wanted to save them all.

The PR leader needs a high PRE, an ability to deal with the Press, polititions, etc...

  14. Hi All,

Reading the 6th edition thread and desided to start a new thread:

It seems that everyone hates the new DS rules from 5th, and I am sure most have a house rule for it, so I perpose a sharing of house rules to see what everyone else is doing

    My Rules for DS:

A +1/2 Modifier, subject to attack powers, if the attack power is ranged it looses it's range component, If Str adds you loose as well

If applied to a mental power and is only suppose to activate when a mental power is used against the character then costing stays the same

It uses the AF method of an additional +1 on any abusive powers, INCLUDING mental powers that will be activated on touch (but not mental Powers used vs other Mentalists attacking)

The power becomes a constant power for free

  15. I like that, add in the character takes an equal amount of stun as the victom does, and I think you have it (In otherwords you will feel there pain), also figure in a Succor to Aid and I think you may have it (They can usualy wake them up if they posses them)

C'mon, JmOz, you don't really expect a lawyer to answer a question that controversial in print, do you?

Not really. but I was hoping he would admit to screwing up Damage Shield (The continous thing is wrong, makes it at its most basic level wrong, note he even knows it, thus why he uses the KHA power instead, so he can side step and add a additional -1/2 lim)
