  1. Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver

    My game?

This is the recipe I'm thinking of...

Start with Normals, throw them into a recently post-apoc world [with little to no tech], throw in some elements of Highlander, super powers, gritty dark storylines, and then add surprises to taste ;)

I like the sound of that! keep us updated on how that goes.

  2. Re: Duke (art and characters) Been awhile since I visited this thread. I did some illustrations for Asian Bestiary Volume 1, well six to be exact. I put them up on my site in my gallery, they are done in pen and ink. So you can get a taste of what you can expect from the book. If you want to see the rest, you'll of course have to purchase it.

I plan on colouring the three illustrations I have selected and so far I have coloured the Rakshasa, so that is up there as well if your interested in seeing what I have cooked up. (done the three I selected.)

  3. Re: Digital Hero Materials in your Champions Campaigns

I've always been interested in DH, though was never able to get it due to no credit capabilities.

I got the last issue because of my art work in it, and I found most of it very useful.

What would I like to see more of in it?

I think I'd like more mini-adventures or longer ones stretched out over several issues with good maps, with side bars detailing how to alter the game for other source books, such as pulp, teen, dark or whatever.

I find adventures to be very useful, with well made npc's to illustrate good examples of how to design characters. That being said, I'm pretty lazy when it comes to designing powers, and maybe even a section of some interesting new powers that could be illustrated, and why they were built the way they were. Like if someone built a shockwave power, and perhaps simular powers with it, like a 356 vibration sense detection, and so on and so forth.

Also I think that since it is in a digital format that making it more colourful would be a strong visual aspect of it. Not just the art but the layout. A lot of games are coming out full colour now and if it is a digital medium the printing costs are negated.

I do understand the budget though for hiring artists may be taxing on designing, but it may be enticing to potential buyers.

What I also think is that it needs a bit more promotion to the masses here, and this was a great thread to start for people to get to know.

Maybe even in the section online if it was possible to click the thumbnail of the issue, and get a larger version of the cover, before the highlights of what is contained inside.

I know you can't judge a book by its cover but, it sure as hell is a good selling feature for me when I don't know what something is entirely about.

  4. Re: Duke (art and characters)

OMG I remember the sleestalk! When I first got online ages ago there was a site called the league of super villians I believe and from there I found this site all about the sleestalk trying to take over, and run for president of the USA or some sort.

I was laughing my but off. I wonder if that is even still around.

  5. Re: Duke (art and characters) thanks question, same for you as well. Enforcer I finished a concept for the main character for the GW story if you wanted to see that. I'm not going to post a pic here because it's not Champions related, but its on my site. Its in the illustration gallery, under digital art, and its called neophyte.

Edit: No longer exisits nor does the artwork.

  6. Re: Duke (art and characters)

That's good news Duke. GW = Games Workshop? Nice.

Yeah it is. I worked for them for a year, ages ago it seems now.

Of course this all has to be done for Feb. so I think I should be able to manage and get it all done.

  7. Re: Duke (art and characters) I should swap that mistress psi pic for a slighty larger one. It gets difficult to see the detail on the background. Anyway I did another tonight, messing around with a wacom tablet, as I never had one before. I present to you the blood sucking mutated beast. Vamprax vamprax.png

I know its been awhile, but my work got very busy for awhile. And then they let me go due to budget cuts.

    Lovely eh?

Anyway that means I have a lot of time on my hands so if anyone is still interested in an illustration, let me know.

  9. Re: Drawing Super characters.

I can't remember when I couldn't draw. I've just done it all my life.

But I'm a firm believer that being able to draw is not a "natural" talent. I think anyone can learn and get good at it. I think it is just like any other skill, you spend time at it you get better.

Of course its not an overnight thing, but you will be able to see vast improvements the more you do practice.

I only draw a few hours a week. Though there were long periods of my life where I would be drawing for 10 hours a day 7 days a week.

  10. Re: Earthquake Abilities

Wicked those are all great ideas. Thanks so much.

I was also thinking at work today that perhaps they could place their hand down on the grown and send out a vibration that could work almost like a radar with anything touching the ground.

  11. If a character had an ability to generate small scale earthquakes how would you go about designing the power? I was thinking possibly it could be an elemental control, though I'm not too sure if that would cover it all. I guess you could take a - to movement from the tremors, but you would have to put in some kind of clause that it only works on ground movement so that subjects of its radius that can fly are not harmed by it.

Also what other powers do you think could go hand in hand with someone that had an ability to create earthquakes. I'm trying to lean more towards manipulation of shock waves or vibrations then a control over earth or rocks.

    Thanks

  12. Re: Wwycd: They Blew It!!

Snow Leopard Move to Canada. Her father is Canadian, I should check to see if she has dual citizenship. Canadian father and American mother, born in the States, any one know?

Last I heard you have dual citzenship up until a certain age. I think it is 18, and then you have to decide as a legal adult which citizenship you wish to belong to.

Of course it also makes it easier for them usually to acquire a green card to work in the other contry.
