  1. Hi, just a quick question - Does a character require the Non-Anchored adder to use a barrier to englobe? What if the target is flying?

One of my players used a 34 BODY 0PD 0ED barrier as a cheap "holding cell" for villains and force field for allies, I now know it should have at least had 1 PD but as this was a "magic ball" type spell I was of the opinion that if Falcon (Our flying brick) was englobed and hit with a 6D6 HKA and knocked back 19" he would be taking a chunk of damage on hitting a wall.

How would you rule this situation? :)

    Thanks!

  2. Re: Wade Wilsons Missile Deflection?

Assuming a rule like "anyone can deflect an arrow' date=' there are significant penalties to deflect a bullet and you must buy a special power to deflect a laser", why should anyone buy attacks defined as arrows or bullets? They have the same cost, but are less useful.[/quote']

Heh a fair point I guess but then in the same vein why buy +" of running when flight - no turn mode - only in conact with a surface costs the same :)

I dont suddenly see my players all packing lasers to "beat" my idea of the rules, heck it was one of them who suggested penalties and he wants a card slinging "gambit" style character :)

  3. Re: Wade Wilsons Missile Deflection?

The point made by one of my players was "anyone can deflect an arrow" > "but no one cant stop a machine gun" Which is basically my problem with the new rules.

I do like your build Tasha, seems like it would work well, its a fair few points but would be dropped into Deadpools MP along with his Guns, Swords, Grenades etc so cost isnt a major factor. I think I would drop the body to 0, meaning if one gets through you've missed a block and you get wasted with the rest of the shots :)

The problem with using something like desolid is wade cant protect someone by interjecting himself between the shooter and the target, not that deadpool would be being THAT heroic very often but still :)

Hyper sense is a another great point, I think I would hand out negative to deflect "fast" attacks like bullets and lasers unless someone had something along those lines.

  4. Re: Wade Wilsons Missile Deflection?

As I understand it' date=' Missile Deflection from 5E has been folded into the Standard Block Maneuver, though it is a GM's option to allow the ability to block Ranged Attacks (6E59). Basically, the character has to have something that the GM says allows him to Block said attacks. Deadpool's swords should be able to block physical attacks, so a GM probably should allow you to do it when he has [u']his[/u] swords. If he is able to do it with other swords or anything else is up to the GM.

I guess thats something I need to think more about - I think im mainly just having a hard time dealing with no more Missile deflection and reflection :)

I think the power I detailed is a nice cheap way to "make" players buy deflection, I see being able to deflect bullets as being a power because it almost impossible "realistically" and unless a Hero has it as part of his character I wouldnt allow it against fast attacks like bullets - arrows and rocks would be fine though :)

  5. Hi all, just noticed Missiled deflect and reflect has changed to deflect and reflect.

Im trying to build a deadpool character and wanted him to have a great missile deflection but not reflection.

Not sure how to do this correctly under the new system. In our games ranged block wont be an "everyman" skill but something you have to buy.

My thought were - Deflection - No Range -1/2 - OIF -1/2 - Only works on "physical" attacks ie no lasers, flame throwers etc. -1/2?

    How does this sound?

    Thanks for the help :)

  6. Re: 6th Edition Books on eReader?

The one downside I see to it is that it may be a bit slow as a reference at the gaming table, but for reading it's great .

Totally agree, you cant "flip through" the book with the reader like you can with a physical copy, that's why I buy reference books like Champions Universe solely on PDF but something like the core books I got in both formats.

Reading for me is a way to relax so sitting at the PC for hours reading massive PDFs wasnt any fun!

  7. Re: Power/points Limits: "Normal" Superheroes

DC x 2 was pretty much the upper limit when we last played!

    I'm thinking >

12D6 max, up to 75 active < +1/4 then :) > and just using that as a flat limit across the board.

Im finding it difficult to impose a limit on defences that's fair for all the archetypes, A good limit for a speedster or Energy projector seems ridiculous for the 15 foot tall brick!

I guess things will end up more balanced by doing my job and taking an active part in character creation.

Your version of Mr S is interesting, well built, I dont expect anything that complex from my players after such a long break from Hero.

  8. Hi all, Im looking at running a champions campaign some time in the near future and have a question :)

What does everyone recommend for an active points limit on the players powers/defences?

In 5th ed we ran 60 active points for powers and 40 active for defences usually but im not sure if this should be changed for 6th ed?

Also am I right in thinking for a 5th ed 250 point campaign its now roughly 400 points?

I haven't got to the champions books yet, still reading the 2 core books front to back so im not sure if this is addressed in there ;)

    Thanks for any help!

  9. Re: CHAMPIONS VILLAINS -- What Do *You* Want To See?

Never said it did. :) But as Keldon's request was for the "Zodiac conspiracy' date='" I wanted to clarify that that particular group/adventure is off the table.[/quote']

    Oh no!

Guess I will have dig up the old books and convert them, Hero designer should make my life easier :D

  10. Re: 6th Edition Books on eReader?

I just got my Kindle Dx today, the main reason for its purchase was RPG PDFs :)

Hero looks great on it and while you can zoom in the fit to screen option is fine!

Some books I have tried, world of darkness stuff, are not as easy to read that way but then I just zoom in!

I think its a great invention for rpgs and it means my players can have all the hardcopy books and I just need the reader!

Also the new DX contrast is much better than before but as has been mentioned they are very expensive, IMHO, and for £350 I could have bought alot of books!

  11. Re: Is Flying Dodge too good?

Ok read this thread with much annoyance

    a few points are...

1> it dosent cost 5 points for a flying dodge, it costs 10 unless you have other manuvers, thanks to the 10 point minimum in martial arts

2> fred the security guard will have a hard time fitting a martial dodge of any kind into his character concept!

3> Bob the super speed super's punch is just a punch, in other words not bullet fast or amazingly unavaoidable, unless it is bought as IPE or Indirect, special effects only go so far!!

not meaning to sound hostile or anything just a few points that bugged me :D

  12. Now i know hos this maneuver works thanks to the faq, and it is one of my fav for my speedster.

Then only problem is i cannot find a description anywhere, i thoughtthe ultimate martial artist would have a description but i cannot find it??

am i blind or just checking the wrong book?

    Thanks

    Tom
