  1. Oh, I totally agree - the lists are great for steering you towards what's expected for a particular archetype - especially for new players. But a Package Deal used to be a thing you would buy in it's entirety because you wanted the cost reduction - now they're just lists of suggestions and nothing more. I know it's just a terminology thing - but Package Deals is the wrong thing to call them now. Edit: spelling
  2. Ya see - twelve years I've had Hero and I still don't quite get it! That looks excellent - thank you.
  3. I'm trying to create a spell that will give a temporary OCV bonus to a particular weapon. So, for example, you cast the spell on the weapon and it gets +3 OCV for a few minutes or some such. But I'm not quite sure how to put it together. Normally to boost something for a few minutes you'd use Aid, so nearest I came up with was 2d6 OCV Aid where each 2 points rolled gives +1 OCV (as a 2 point CSL). But it doesn't feel right giving the weapon CSLs. I'm actually tempted to dump the idea of boosting the weapon and just make it a DEX Aid on the wielder (for OCV only), but giving the boost to the weapon is more in the flavour of my magc system. Any ideas?
  4. But the fact that the packages as presented are expensive is mostly irrelevant. Because they are no longer Deals (ie. no discount) they are also no longer Packages which must be bought in their entirety. With the exception of racial packages (which I'm insisting must be bought in their entirety) they are just lists of suggested abilities that you can pick and choose from if you want your character to meet the conventions of a particular archetype. Which is fine - suggested abilities are always handy, particularly for new players. But I'll be calling them something like "Suggested Archetype Abilities" with no total cost listed rather than the somewhat confusing "Package Deals".
  5. Wooooo! Now I'm excited! Now I'm excited!
  6. I have to say that Solar Hero sounds like it could be great. I've been wanting to run a near-ish future, man colonising the solar system type game for years now but can never get round to thinking it through properly ... assuming that's what Solar Hero is of course, then this could well be my saviour
  7. Of course, I did of course mean 14- or greater ... not 8- or less ... d'oh!
  8. You could take some of the randomness out by stating that anything with a final target roll of 8- or less can be purchased without a roll. So Everyday and Common items would be basically automatic, unless they were magical varieties. Anyway, I'm definetely stealing this idea
