  1. Re: My Version of BSG Hero

You're most welcome and that's where I got my information from. If you'd like to work together on this project I'd welcome the help. Right now I'm working on the capital ships like basestars and battlestars. About the only thing I really need to finish it up is the escorts and new combat ships if you'd be interested.

  2. Re: My Version of BSG Hero

Thank ya for the kind words Vanguard because I appreciate it. I'd have to think about hosting up the hdc files, but I do plan on putting up the finished book. I'm like you in that I love the improvements they made to BSG in the new series. As for your battlestar, you could always classify it as a Mercury class since the stats for them haven't been released yet. A little creativity doesn't hurt and I like it when people make up new plausible ships for the setting. What we see on screen isn't a true indication of what the Colonial Military had before the Holocaust so new additions to the line up of ships are welcome. According to RDM BSG=Battlestar Group based around the US's current carrier groups. Frigates and other classes must exist in order to make it fit with the current US Navy's carrier groups.

at one time I was working on a Hero version of the old Galactica' date=' I dont remember how far I got with it, somewhere I found some stats and roughed out her as being a size 38 hull, but never got much further than that with her, are folks interested in more tinkering stuff?[/quote']

Well the old series was pretty good but the new series IMHO is much better. It wouldn't be too hard for you to finish the original series as a Hero setting.

  4. Re: Super cities

    Two quick things:

    1. Not to speak for JmOz, but I don't think he is implying that the UN is a "superior" entity. Rather it is a result of negotiation, which implies a treaty or some other sort of agreement. Under the Constitution, the United States may enter into treaty obligations (which are superior to domestic law but not the constitution) with foreign countries or institutions. Those obligations may be binding and grant rights to those other entities (think about the various conventions and treaties granting diplomatic rights -- those countries then have jurisdiction over the premises of their embassy's as if those areas were part of the parent country). Quite frankly, so long as the Senate gave its advice and consent, I think the President, under its Article II powers over foreign affairs, would have sufficient authority to enter into an agreement with the UN to station super teams on US soil.

    2. The UNTIL source book does a nice treatment of the international legal aspects of UN sponsored teams.

Actually the treaty would only apply to federal territory and possessions which leaves out the several states. Only the states have sole jurisdiction on what happens within their borders.

  5. Re: Super cities

Not so much a major change as a little tweak:

The Centurians are funded by the UN. They are not directly answerable to the UN. Most member nations of the UN have signed the Centurians Pact that allows the Centurians to have limited legal power in the host countries, to get america to sign it they had to promise them 2 teams, the only country to have 2. They also got a school for super powered individuals.

Each Sub team is answerable to the laws of the host country in regards to super powered individuals plus the Centurians council (Made up of 5 members of the team). Each sub team gets 2 liasons (One from the host country, one from the UN)

Which is a major violation of the Constitution. ;)

  6. Re: Super cities

I am trying to figure out the appropriate number of superteams to be operating in the US. I currently plan on having three teams sponcered by political agencies, one by the DoD, 2 by the UN:

    1) Virgina (Whatever city actualy houses the Pentagon...It is not Washington DC, but it is pretty close to it)

    2) New York (Team is located across from the UN Building, who sponcers them)

    3) San Francisco (The other UN sponcered team)

Where else do you think that privatly funded teams make the most sense?

The only problem with this idea is that the UN has no jurisdiction within the United States, unless you drastically change the law of your world.

  7. Re: Comparing starship speeds.

I agree. BSG's "FTL drive" IMO functions not as a "speed magnifier" like in SW or ST, but as a "jump drive". Little if any time is spent "in transit", though you did go from point A to point B in less time than light took. Thus it's called an FTL Drive.

I missed the last episode, so this may have already been resolved, but I have to make the following comment:

Galactica vs Pegasus? I'll put 20 on Galactica!

Galactica would win in my opinion. Cain doesn't have a fleet of ships to back her up while Adama does. Granted the ships in the fleet are civilian but they are armed, for the most part, and could lash out with a few weapons before being destroyed. The other thing is that the Pegasus lacks nukes while the Galactica has 3 nukes left.

    Spoiler Warning

At the end of the season 2.5's first episode Cain was killed not by Starbuck and Adama wasn't killed by Cain's marines. The person who killed Cain was Gina that Gaius helped to escape from Pegasus' brig by distracting the guard.

  8. Re: My Version of BSG Hero

Here's a small update on BSG Hero. Pretty much everything has been done for Cylons, Colonials, and their respective ships. I haven't put in the capital ships yet as that will be my next step for this project. A friend of mine is writing up the equipment to be used by both sides ranging from drugs to weapons. Let me know what you think of the changes. I changed the file format from being a Word file to a pdf file.

  9. Re: Comparing starship speeds.

Well I'm wrong on this so accept my apologies for the inaccuracte statements. Their FTL drives use wormholes based off of Superstring and M-Theory which make it instaneous jumps. Time for me to go back into my BSG Hero and change how the drives work.

  10. Re: Comparing starship speeds.

i have nothing to back this up' date=' but to me the new BSG's FTL is a megascaled teleport.[/quote']

I would have to disagree since when they do a FTL jump it's far from instaneous and it takes quite awhile for them to get to another location. When you do see them jumping like the Raptors it doesn't account for the entire trip time since Moore has specifically stated that not everything is shown on the screen as people are smart enough to figure things out. They just happen to cut out the long jump times to speed up the show since showing a realistic Newtonian style jump would be akin to watching the grass grow. ;)

  11. Re: My Version of BSG Hero

Thank you and I'll be posting up the final version of the book when it's finished. Right now I've added the Cylon Centurion and Autonomous Raider to it and working on the Cylon Heavy Raider. I'm thinking of just setting up a base points for the humano-cylons to give the GM greater flexibility since they don't have any set skills or packages. It would also add a lot of unpredictability to them to make the players more edgy.

  12. Hello everyone,

I'm a long time Champions/Hero System player/gm and I've been working hard on a BSG campaign setting based upon the reimaged series. Battlestar Galactica Wiki has been an invaluable resource for this project. This is what I've gotten done so far and I'm planning on adding a lot more packages for the Colonial Military. Let me know what you think of what I've gotten done so far.
